I had asked about the competition path last summer and was told our son had to learn the basics for about a year first. When we said we would like to cancel, all of a sudden, this competition "class" was an option. I suspect that this basically operates like a daycare with legos for most, and all the actual coaching gets saved for the few kids in competition.

I like it here, my kid likes it here, and she seems to be learning. Although anything would have helped my little struggling kid. The neighborhood is a tiny bit sketch (by Tri-Valley standards i guess), but it's fine. It's near a dollar store and a pub. If you'd like to connect the dots, you may. But anyhoo, if your kid is struggling with math, take them here. You'll see a nice improvement. We're leaving for a bit, only because we have to tighten some finances. But we'll be back for sure.

You can learn that from youtube videos. Also, it's hard to get in touch with our college consultant, Mr. Wei. Every communication (phone call, text chats) had to go through his secretary. Very time consuming. They also tried to sell you more services in some meetings. The essay review was helpful but that's it. Unless you really don't know anything about college admission, you should look somewhere else.

Teacher actually has good reputation because my daughter said she has some classmates come from Stockton! She got a 2380 in the real test (her diagnostic test was only 1940, after the test, her general counselor analyzed what were her weaknesses so she could really work on those parts). Class management was satisfying, teacher assistant reported to us how well she was doing, so we could keep tracking her progress. Later, we had a counseling meeting with their counselor and agreed that extracurricular was important but also her weakness since we didn't know much about how and what to do was good for her. Then we joined IvyMax's counseling program. I have to say, this one year so far, overall is good, even though not all the time being extremely satisfying, they have been adjusting and coordinating, willing to listen and communicate. My daughter now enjoys participating in their students actives. They have provided many volunteering opportunities and encouraged my daughter to try and challenge. I have seen how my daughter have changed!

Tutoring in the Bay is usually very expensive (I've tutored for $100/hr in the bay) but the director here takes all that into consideration with great attention to detail to your children's educational needs. I tutored AP biology, chemistry, physics, calculus, and SAT and ACT at many places across the East Bay, including Pleasanton, Mountain View, and San Ramon. Keypoint in Dublin, by far, had the most capable director that understood both the needs of the tutors and that of the students. The director pays attention to the quality of materials presented to the students, but he is not overbearing. He prepares a lot of the materials himself for the students. Some places in Mountain View just had awful directors with transactional manners, and some places in Pleasanton just leave it all to the tutors with little to no followup from the directors. But the director of this institute cares-- a lot--and it shows. The tutors here always come prepared. Every tutor is interviewed personally by the director, after having to pass written examinations to verify their aptitude. I hear after Covid, many of the services have moved Online. There are pros and cons with that, but the kids are still getting that same quality of education at the comfort of their own homes, and frankly, I'd prefer that if I were the student. When I have children, I would want to send my kids to this place (that is, unless I'm teaching them myself.)

I chose Best Brains for him because the booklets it uses is very much to my kid's learning style-colorful pictures & fonts, not-too-lengthy description on problems, straight forward direction, constructional syllabus. The class being 30 mins is very appropriate for kids to be focused. The instructors are very kind, patient & structural in teaching. The owner Sneha is communicative- she is open to listen to the parent & will try to work out a solution for the best interest of the kids. Also kudos to Miss Iesia for finding innovating ways to teach the kids. My son's confidence has soared and most importantly, he has developed a love for numbers. He enjoys doing the homework and has developed a cheerful disposition. Best brains gave my kid great platform to learn the concepts and also kept the enthusiasm to learn.

Each class is only 30 minutes per subject, and that time is shared with about 4 other kids. For close to $40 per session, the value just isn't there. During class, the instructors seemed to do the bare minimum. Most of the actual work is pushed onto kids and parents through worksheets, which defeats the purpose of paying for guided learning. What concerned us more was our 4-year-old's experience. When we arrived 10 to 15 minutes early a few times, we found him just sitting and playing instead of being engaged. In a 30-minute session, losing 10 minutes is significant. Overall, it felt unstructured and not worth the cost. We expected more engagement, attention, and value for the price.
