Our son has had a bad experience here.  He says that he gets a piece of paper to work off of, and…read morethe coaches come by every once in awhile and ask if it is ok, and that is about the extent of the coaching.  He has had problems with parts missing from his project as other students take things out of his bin when they can't find something.  They are usually the high demand parts, so he has a really tough time replacing them.  When he asks the coaches, they tell him to go look for the part, and he spends a good portion of the time looking for parts as they don't provide it for him.   He says when he has a question, several other smaller kids interrupt, and the coach's attention gets scattered, and they don't answer his question ultimately.   So, all in all, he is not able to make much progress week to week.  I was shocked, as the per lesson cost of this program is almost the price of private music or tennis instruction, that he would get so little attention and help.  Something so simple as the low availability of parts is something that could be managed, and there should be enough coaches to answer the kids' questions. I had asked about the competition path last summer and was told our son had to learn the basics for about a year first. When we said we would like to cancel, all of a sudden, this competition "class" was an option. I suspect that this basically operates like a daycare with legos for most, and all the actual coaching gets saved for the few kids in competition.

As someone with immigrant parents, I didn't really have anybody to ask for advice about American colleges. Mrs. Yamashita and I discussed about how we can incorporate my Japanese activities in my application. I'm so happy that I was able to show how I've connected with my culture throughout my life through Japanese school, abacus, volunteering, etc. Mrs. Yamashita also provided useful resources that helped me write essays and the activity list. She also added detailed comments on my essays, so I knew which areas to make improvements on. I recommend her counseling service to anybody who's feeling lost in the application process. Thank you so much Haruka-San!

While picking up my child from middle school, I briefly stopped in the red zone because I was not feeling well and currently have a fever. Within seconds, the business owner, Mr. Siva, approached my vehicle aggressively, yelling and cursing loudly in front of my children and other students. He was not law enforcement or school staff, yet his behavior was intimidating, hostile, and completely inappropriate for someone running a business centered around children and education. My children were genuinely frightened by the interaction. Regardless of parking frustrations, there is never an excuse to speak to parents that way in front of children. What concerns me even more is that Mathnasium as a brand chooses to franchise locations to individuals who conduct themselves in this manner. It seriously makes me question the professionalism, judgment, and values of the company as a whole. Because of this experience, I will be taking my children to another math tutoring center moving forward.

I like it here, my kid likes it here, and she seems to be learning. Although anything would have helped my little struggling kid. The neighborhood is a tiny bit sketch (by Tri-Valley standards i guess), but it's fine. It's near a dollar store and a pub. If you'd like to connect the dots, you may. But anyhoo, if your kid is struggling with math, take them here. You'll see a nice improvement. We're leaving for a bit, only because we have to tighten some finances. But we'll be back for sure.

I cannot wait to see my daughter further develop her social, creative and educational skills here. Wonderful experience so far - 10/10 recommend!

Luckily, the center offers free classes every week to give kids chances to meet and chat with each other, and learn together online during this difficult time. In the past two years, my son gets help on his academic learning as well as explores new interests in many areas, like aerospace knowledge, world war I & II, chess, public speaking, art, and most important one - outdoor fun. He makes friends from different grades, also with teachers: Mr. Chris, Mr. Armando, Mr. Marty, and some others. We are grateful to know about this place! Since another parent of my son's classmate recommended this center to us 2 years ago, we can always maintain smooth and efficient communication with Ms. Susan. With her help, we are confident that our child can have a meaningful and enjoyable time. Ms. Susan is very considerate. Our 8-year-old was experiencing adjustment difficulties following the move and had some incidents involving aggression. After only two weeks, Susan and Art told us that our 5-year-old was "great," but referred to him as "the other one" while saying that our 8-year-old did not belong there. We found this comparison and the way the situation was communicated to be insensitive and unprofessional. We were also told that they were not equipped to support children who act out or do not fit their daycare's approach. Susan stated that they had not experienced this type of behavior from another child in 10 years. Rather than working with us on a transition plan or discussing possible supports, they made it clear that our son could not remain in the program. Our son had been academically successful in Fremont Unified, but he was struggling emotionally with a major move and needed patience, structure, and constructive communication. We understand that every program has limits regarding the behaviors it can safely manage. However, we were very disappointed by the dismissive way our child and family were treated and by the lack of compassion shown during a difficult transition. After only two weeks of enrollment, we now have to find new childcare for both children. Based on our experience, I would urge parents--especially those whose children may need additional behavioral or emotional support--to ask detailed questions about the program's capabilities and approach before enrolling. They conveyed to us that they had limited training, resources, and ability to support children who need additional help, and that their program is better suited only to children who fit within their narrow approach to childcare.

Tutoring in the Bay is usually very expensive (I've tutored for $100/hr in the bay) but the director here takes all that into consideration with great attention to detail to your children's educational needs. I tutored AP biology, chemistry, physics, calculus, and SAT and ACT at many places across the East Bay, including Pleasanton, Mountain View, and San Ramon. Keypoint in Dublin, by far, had the most capable director that understood both the needs of the tutors and that of the students. The director pays attention to the quality of materials presented to the students, but he is not overbearing. He prepares a lot of the materials himself for the students. Some places in Mountain View just had awful directors with transactional manners, and some places in Pleasanton just leave it all to the tutors with little to no followup from the directors. But the director of this institute cares-- a lot--and it shows. The tutors here always come prepared. Every tutor is interviewed personally by the director, after having to pass written examinations to verify their aptitude. I hear after Covid, many of the services have moved Online. There are pros and cons with that, but the kids are still getting that same quality of education at the comfort of their own homes, and frankly, I'd prefer that if I were the student. When I have children, I would want to send my kids to this place (that is, unless I'm teaching them myself.)
