I had so much fun that this year I want to see if they have something else I can learn! The instructor was very patient with us and explained everything perfectly. I learned how to make screen prints using freezer paper or drawing fluid and screen filler (we did not do photo emulsion). I wish I brought more T-shirt's instead of doing a bunch on paper so learn from my mistake. This is a great experience and I highly recommend it!

Dual location review: Fairmount and Queen Village…read more Philly Art Center has been part of my daughter's life since 4 years old (almost 10 now). I called the Art Center in Fairmount (it was only one location at that point) and spoke to Ms. Jill, explained that my daughter was a new 4 and I was concerned about leaving her. She nicely told me get over it and I would be fine (of course she didn't say that), she reassured me that she would be safe and have fun..after the first class, my daughter was hooked; it doesn't hurt that they get to color on the mirrors in the studio. Throughout the years my daughter has taken numerous classes at the Fairmount and Queen Village Centers, in addition to "Date Night", which you drop your child off for a couple hours and pick them up, I believe around 10pm; they feed them, they go to the gym, and of course do art. Not only are they doing art, the children learn about artists and how and why things are done. I believe the regular classes were about 90 minutes for children. There are general art classes but most of them have a theme or time period that they focus on; one of her favorite classes was pottery. Numerous adult classes and birthday parties are also offered. Recently my daughter started back at the Art Center for drop-in camp. Seeing Ms. Jill for the first time in years was the highlight of our day. While she is the owner, she is fully invested in the children and it shows by how much my daughter loves her! For camp, the campers get creative so it is recommended your child comes in play clothes and sneakers because the do go to the park; before-care and after-care is available. Over the years, due to scheduling conflicts we were unable to attend regularly, but anytime I hear someone talk about their children loving art, I always recommended the Art Center! Ms. Jill and her staff are amazing, now with an addition location in Cherry Hill, NJ! You go girl!!!

If this is the same camp that I was the 3rd generation to attend it's amazing!…read more My sibling and I use to go every year when we were kids for about a month. I just thought of it at this moment when I hung up the phone with a friend that is sending her son to camp. It's one of the best choices my family ever made. I think I was social anyway but I truely believe this camp helped me develop extensive skills and aided in an open mind. It was mandatory that you engage in 3 activities everyday, you could not just sit around. You had camp counselors that you called aunt and uncle "such in such" which developed a personal and trusting relationship. I swam, fished, boated, archery, baseball....everything! There were dances and camp fires, your parents would send you "care packages" which they let you decide if you wanted to share or not but I know yoi what I'm getting at. You had to make your bed and clean up after yourself, they helped with laundry. If yiu got sick you would go to "jyro" (sp?) and you would receive around the clock care.... which is actually the reason I love Apricot juice!! When the nurse hands a kid a glass of thick, pulpy off-orange in color, you're like what the hell is that! I watch my sugar intake as an adult but when I get some I slurp it down. We ate in the mess hall all together and it was like a meeting with all camp attendees. We would then dispose our waste and they would weigh it after so we could see how much we wasted. I mean we're talkin 1980's we were already being mindful of waste. It's been over 2 decades so I have no idea how this place is run but if it is anything like what I described I would highly recommend you goet a vacation and send your kids to camp. I think I have Golden Slipper Club Camp to thank for also aiding in the development of my independence.

I'd miss him more than i do when he goes to the second encampment!) I love that they have so many things for the children to do, they never get bored!
