I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor, LCDC, NCC and my 98 year old grandmother is currently here and she is being well taken care of and loved on. The Brightpointe doesn't deserve low ratings because they care and help patients get better. My grandmother came out of a local hospital in really bad shape and now she back doing rehab, making friends and crafts, and progress. No place is perfect but The Brightpointe is making a difference in the care and lives they touch by walking through our journey hand and hand with us!!!! From the CNA's, nurses, therapists, case manager, front house staff, kitchen, back house staff and CEO they care and they try very hard to make patients feel important and a priority. Why is this place still open???? Families need to make better decisions for care! Don't just dump your family member in a nursing home! This one is very very bad as I have reported before. The staff doesn't care about the patients at all...don't be fooled..because it's what you want to see and not what is actually going on....look for care in their own home. This place is expensive..better to spend money and keep them in their own home or with you. These people will make your family member worse. Please avoid at all costs and tell friends and family. read more

The physicians, nurses, therapists, and aides here are the BEST! Highly knowledgeable, skilled and kind individuals for sure. However, management keeps staffing to an absolute bare minimum. This, of course results in longer response times to patient call lights, delivery of medications, and any other emergencies. If you or a family member end up coming here, for whatever reason, have someone stay with you at all times. The facility management will try to discourage this request, they will make it very difficult. But be insistent! You have a right to be there and it's the only way to ensure continuous and prompt care for your loved one while staying at this facility. read more

My father is currently at BrightPointe and is NOT receiving adequate care. They are not taking him to PT or OT. He is doing everything himself without help. Last night someone came in to help him with a bath. They could not figure out how to get his sling back on for his healing broken shoulder, so they just left him there without it on. They also left the call button on the floor where he could not get it so he could not call for help. When a nurse finally came in later, she could not figure out the sling either. My father had to go online and look up a video on how to put it back on and do it himself. HORRIBLE CARE! He is NOT getting the help he needs to be able to come home. read more

The food is so good, really on catfish day. Therapy does excellent. Nursing is always on top of their game when patients need anything. Staff over all is excellent. Would recommend this place to everyone. Very clean and smells great. read more

My husband was at Brightpointe skilled nursing care for almost three months and we could not have been more pleased with the nursing staff and care we received. The physical and occupational therapy team were OUTSTANDING!! My husband would not be where he was now if it were not for the therapy he received at Brightpointe. My husband's leg was broken in four places and rebuilt with titanium. His left arm was crushed and rebuilt with titanium. When he left Brightpointe he left walking. Our room was cleaned daily and spotless. Not to mention upper management was outstanding and very helpful. We highly recommend Brightpointe for service and care. read more

I wish I could leave 0 stars. My mom has been there for 2 weeks and it's like a clown show. The staff is so unhelpful, rude, the therapy is minimal (I like her main PT) but they have given unclear and false info as far as progress notes, leading to my moms Medicare appeal being denied even though the PT, the nurse, and the doctor, know she needs a little more rehabilitation post hip surgery, and I can't get anyone to help me correct this misinterpretation of therapy notes which would have surely won the appeal. Now they want a credit card to guarantee $250-550 a day depending if she gets no therapy, PT or OT that day) and if she loses the second appeal, we would owe them private pay. She really isn't safe to return to a lesser level of care but I wouldn't want to pay $100 a day for her to stay at this place- everything has been a hassle with them. So why would they help me prove her case? They could collect private pay from her if she gets denied- seems like a conflict of interest to me. I have never worked with such unhelpful, uncaring people. read more

Wish I could leave a negative star! They claim to be a skilled nursing facility. Do not take your loved one there. My dad was there 2 nights too long! They were not even ready for us to arrive from hospital, I had to show the EMS where to go, staff was not helpful. A total nightmare and even with a meeting the next day with all heads of staff, we still continued to have issues. The maintenance man ended up answering the emergency call button since no nurse responded and asked if he needed help to my dad's caregiver. Keep in mind we hired her to sit with him since we knew no one is doing their job! The maintenance man helped clean my dad up after he had been sitting in soiled clothes and sheets for who knows how long. Kuddos to this man for helping!!!! Obviously, he has done this before which is so sad. Please keep your loved ones safe! read more

I'm a mellow guy,I could let a lot of things roll off my back,but there's just a limit. I would let things slide like my bed not being changed for 9 days until we said something, or when signs of someone going through my stuff, or stuff missing out of my room and being told I was lying in their own words. I also said nothing about small food portions and at least one thing missing off of tray each meal, like they were doing it on purpose. I didn't say anything when I would not get my morning meds until late afternoon, or how they would hunt me down and talk about embarrassing things about my health and care in front of other patients and their family. Or how they would ask when you got to the facility when you want to do therapy ( mornings or afternoon) but the therapy workers would try to get you to come in early even though they had multiple patients already because they wanted to leave early. Therapy would also open your door quietly and if you were asleep they would quietly close the door and leave. They do not have a schedule for you to see also so you don't know when you are supposed to go. The more I let go the more the staff neglected me. When I finally would say something I got lied to and brushed off. They refuse to let you see any of your other doctors except for theirs, but it was hard or impossible to see their doctors. When I finally got angry then they were rude and combative. Called me a liar in their words, started asking me when I was leaving, started being rude to me and my family including my kids. Started retaliating by treating me as badly as they possibly could. Coming in my room to harasse me and refusing to leave when asked to, and that was the management. If you want your loved ones cared for with love and respect that they deserve then i would not recommend this facility. To keep from being shut down they seemed to have changed some of their name and added some glitter but still have a terrible service. read more

Absolutely do not take a loved one here. Not sure how Medicare rated this place 5 stars, because it is dirty, old, and completely anticlimactic. The hallway carpet had stains everywhere, the room had a raggedy bed with no rails, a singular chair, a nightstand, one of the lights wasn't working over the bed; looked like something out of the 80's. My 91 year old grandmother was approved for neurological rehab here after 5 days in the hospital- she was told she'd have full assistance but that just wasn't the case. We walked into the room, took a look around, spoke a few words to the admin nurse (not sure what his status or title was but he knew nothing about my grandmother's situation), and said yeah we aren't staying here and left. Kind of reminded me of an asylum or psych ward, very unsettling place. read more

Just rec'd medicare EOB listing charges by Brightpointe for my husband's PT charges which came to $644.70 day...outrageous considering for only 30 mins and minimal in nature. Unsupervised most of the time and he would fall asleep at the wheel so to speak. Since I was there all day each day I know when he rec'd and last week was billed for every day and did not even do most of those days. Another medicare ripoff facility. Would not recommend taking loved ones to this facility. Same scam with one of the doc's there (Travis W. Hird) billed medicare for services not received. read more

This facility is run more like a prison than a health care facility. They have their own schedule for handling out meds and if you ask for them at a different time you have to wait. I was left in an adult diaper for about an hour and a half after asking three people for help. Once my family member got one of the nursing staff involved, they asked why my family didn't get me cleaned up. That is not my family's job plus we had no supplies to work with. I was there for about a month and there was constant animosity with the staff. I asked for my shower and an aide (Lakeisha) told me I had to wait until the next night. I asked for bath cloths to freshen up and she told me none were available. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. read more

I am writing on behalf of my sister who had major abdominal surgery, then developed pneumonia while in the hospital. She was extremely weak and unable to care for herself. Prior to surgery she was able to care for herself and lived independently. Her doctor was adamant she go to skilled nursing/rehab to regain her strength, but most importantly, not do anything to compromise the extensive surgery. First of all, she was picked up at the acute hospital at 9 PM.. Intake was minimal at that time of night. She arrived late Tuesday and by Thursday afternoon we took her to my house. The next day various services dropped in; dietary, wound care, physical therapy. In all fairness it was a few days before Christmas-but staffing was bad and expected to be worse, per dietary and PT. Dietary: went over all food preferences, things she did not/could not eat such as gassy vegetables; cauliflower, brussel sprouts, beans, etc. What was on her plate for dinner-cauliflower! With some type of meat like substance that was horrendous in looks, so unappetizing. Nutrition is very important for healing and the food was awful. The person who delivered her meal also emptied the trash, no gloves. How would you like to be the next person getting a tray of food from her hands? The food was not tasty, not even the cake. The wound care nurse told my sister not to wear the binder her surgeon had told my sister to wear for 8-12 weeks. Said it wasn't needed. When my sister needed the surgical drain emptied, the LVN came in without gloves, did not wash her hands, started to empty the drain and realized she did not have anything to empty it into. My sister gave her her water cup! When PT came in to do their evaluation-so brief, had her lift her legs against resistance, did not check arm strength. PT's "plan" was for my sister to walk to the nurses station, by herself, with a walker. Heck she can do that at home! There is a bike in the PT center, but my sister can not use it by herself (I understand that) but no one could take her until Sunday-5 days away. My sister was very short of breath after walking, PT told her to take a few deep breaths. Although there was an oxygen tank in the room, it was not used. The room! Ugly paint color, like dirty mustard. Bed extremely uncomfortable, although wide. Employees were outside the window smoking. No gloves visible anywhere. One employee who answered the call light came in wearing a hoodie over his head. When my sister told them she was leaving they were rude to her, telling her you will get nothing from us, no med, no referrals, nothing! She had to fight them to get her inhaler, as they took the one she brought with her. The meds came in sporadically, and only after my sister asked for them. If you love your family member, please do not put them there. I will be notifying Memorial Hermann of her experience. Come to find out a neighbor's father went there to get stronger after hip surgery, he came home weaker than before, not walking now. ED read more

Upon my arrival with my 86 year old mom to Brightpointe at Rivershire from the hospital Friday afternoon, apparently, no one at the facility knew I was coming, even though I had emailed and spoken to admissions on more than one occasion.  After leaving my mom at the facility (a few other minor incidents happened at the intake process), I had a very unsettling feeling in my gut and heart, but decided that I needed to sleep on it before reacting.   The next day my sister and I went to visit my mom.  We both felt better about the situation and facility after talking to the nurse. We gave my mom a shower, changed her clothes and bedding. The next day (Sunday), my sister went to see my mom around 11:00 am.  The room temperature was 84 degrees, the blinds were closed, and my mom was laying in a wet diaper, nightgown, robe, sheets and blanket.  Her breakfast was still sitting on the tray untouched. The aide was watching football games and said my mom wanted to sleep in.  Keep in mind, my mom just spent 7 days in the hospital for a UTI that caused additional health issues.   My sister changed her sheets, gave her a shower and opened the blinds. The following morning, I picked up my mom to take her home to find another alternative. In all fairness to the facility - when I arrived Monday morning, the first floor was full of staff. The head nurse asked me to explain why I was removing my mom. I explained the situation and the nurse was furious. The only reason why I chose this facility was because Medicare gave this facility a 5 star rating. All my other choices were 1-2 stars. read more

With Medicare giving this place a 5 Star rating I would really hate to see what the 2 & 3 Star rated places are like. This place was a dump, carpet had stains that were horrible, surplus beds, if you could even call it food was pitiful, medicine not given properly, no gloves and over charges to Medicare. I don't see how the State keeps letting this to go on. read more

If I could give no stars, I would. Do yourself and your family member a favor, and go elsewhere. The "care" they provide is to leave elderly people sitting in their bed with no Rehab offered for three days. They didn't provide wound care either. Administration was notified and nothing was done. read more
