He was peeking in car windows and roaming around. A guard asked him what he was doing and followed him. I told the guard what I saw, and he called for backup. A few mins later more guards showed up and chased the guy off the premises.

I'm not sure if it's their computer system or what, but there is always a huge line. I lucked out Monday since my mom is in a wheelchair and they took me to the front of the line. No such luck Tuesday when I had my dad (with a cane) wait in a chair so I didn't get that star treatment without him. There are bad doctors and there are great doctors. On Monday my mom had a terrible appointment and then an amazing appointment. Had a good experience Tuesday with the flu and Covid vaccine clinic next door - very efficiently run. Most of the exam rooms are not wheelchair accomodating, I found out Monday. Also there are not enough high chairs for elderly patients to sit on - they can't get up from low chairs people! For a hospital there is very little attention paid to the elderly. Need more hydration stations installed, not drinking fountains. Kaiser paid for the hydration stations at the Oakland airport, at least they could install a few more at their own facilities. There's one near the cafeteria but that's it.

My mother has Alzheimers' dementia and she can be a difficult and confrontational patient. Everybody at Vale --from the nurses to the cleaning staff -- was so understanding, caring and supportive of her. They are definitely overworked and understaffed (as are all nursing facilities in this price range), but they never failed to care for my mother with warmth and personal connections. For an institutional setting, the food is good, too. The neighborhood does not offer much in the way of places to walk, but my mother was recovering from a broken knee and that was not an issue for us. For a family like ours that could not afford paying for a premium upscale facility, Vale was a godsend.
