I saw Dr Nyguen in the office on 11/01 & they told me that they were going to send in a prior authorization request to my insurance that day. Three weeks later, I had not heard anything from the office. I called them on 11/20 but they said that they had not heard anything yet & that the insurance "could take a month, especially near the holidays." I called them again on the 27th, & Jacqueline gave me the same answer, again. I spoke to her next on 12/5 & they were "still waiting for approval." I told her I was going to call Aetna to check & see why this was taking so long. She told me that was a good idea and it might help. I wondered why SHE hadn't already been calling them. As soon as I completed the call with Jacqueline, I called Aetna. I'd really been hoping to maximize my insurance benefit by getting part of this work done on this year's insurance & doing the rest of the work in January using the 2024 insurance. Well, to my surprise, the insurance lady said that they had received a request from Altamesa Dental on 11/20. Remarkably, this was the same day that I'd called the dental office initially and was when I was first put off. Did the office neglect to send in the request on 11/01 and then, after I'd called on 11/20, that's when they finally sent it in? Or, was it really just a massive coincidence that the insurance got the request on 11/20, the same day I had called the office? I don't know. I believe that the offices usually fax or email these requests, so the insurance usually gets the request in 1-2 days. I do know that it only took Aetna 3-4 business days to grant the approval to do 90% of the proposed work--AND THAT WAS DURING THANKSGIVING WEEK! The insurance lady told me that they'd approved all but one procedure but that was fine because that procedure could be done in January. I don't know if Altamesa Dental dropped the ball by not actually submitting the authorization on 11/01 or, maybe, they sent the request through the mail (!) and it got lost. Even if I were to give them the benefit of the doubt, the office still should have followed up on it AT LEAST ONCE between 11/01 & 12/05. I guess they needed someone else to do their work for them. While I was speaking with the Aetna lady, she put me on hold & called the dental office to verbally inform them of the approval. But now, after "someone" had been jerking my chain for 5 weeks, the office can't give me an appointment to finally even START this work for another week-on 12/12. The office will be closed from 12/20/23 through 1/2/24. Obviously, this does not leave enough time to do a crown, the molds, or to get a referral so I could go see an endodontist for a root canal. So, due to 6 weeks of delays, there will be no maximizing of my insurance benefits this year. This delay cost me the $1000 that the insurance WOULD have paid toward my dental care in 2023. I have been going to this dental office since the 1990's. During this period, the practice was run by two other dentists. This was my first time to see this dentist, Dr Brian Nyguen, since he'd taken over the practice. He was very nice & my wife likes him as her dentist. I have no problem with him or with the exam nor with the proposed work that we'd discussed. However, this cluster is going to cost me a lot more than it had to. And, due to this unnecessary delay..........I won't be able to do the 2nd part of this treatment until the 2025 insurance starts. I wonder if Dr Nyguen even knows that his staff does not follow up on "prior authorizations". This single incident has cost the practice thousands of dollars of income. And, it has caused this patient to seek treatment elsewhere. Thanks alot, Altamesa Dental

VaLinda is always a pleasure to work with as she is very professional, calm and knowledgeable. Dr. Patels clinic is always very clean, and organized. Prior to getting started, Dr. Patel explained everything to me ensuring I understood our treatment plan for that day. Dr. Patel completed some extensive dental work, and he always made sure I felt NO pain!! One of the many impressive qualities of Dr. Patel is that he may be treating several patients at the same time, but He always made me feel like I was the only patient in his clinic. Dr. Patel and his amazing team made sure that all of my needs were met, before and after treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Patel and his team for any future Dental care needs. Personally, I will continue to use Dr. Patel.

After about 15 minutes, someone came out and then quoted me an astronomical amount for a crown. I asked why with insurance covering, and they just kept shrugging and saying the person that called on it wasn't there. They had no clue how the price was that high or who to call and check on it. Then said they could recall the insurance and check, but it'll be another 3 weeks?! I said I couldn't wait that long with a temporary on my tooth, and they just shrugged again. Looks like the search continues to find a dental practice that knows what they are doing and trains their staff to understand how insurance works.

It had already been diagnosed by a dermatologist as a benign cyst.This was explained to the staff prior to setting the appt. We were told and I quote "this is routine and we will get you right in." My family member shows up and never even meets the doctor. The office staff are demanding panoramic X-rays of the jaw and teeth. Keep in mind the visit was for a cyst removal on the inside of a lower lip. They said until we did the x-rays, the doctor wouldn't even see them. Then the nurse or dental assistant explained that this would be very expensive... I should mention we told them we would be cash patients because of no dental insurance. All she kept reiterating was how expensive this would be. I doubt this doctor even remembers the hippocratic oath. My relative was sitting there in discomfort, expecting to get the cyst removed only to find out that if they did not get the panoramic x-rays on parts are their mouth that had nothing to do with their medical issues they would not be seen. Typically the doctor comes in assess the situation then orders the modality of care appropriate for the situation correct? This place is run by a shakedown artist and no one should send their family to this place ever. I wonder if this place is mobbed up they seem to have the extortion part down real well.

The pedicure was standard, nothing special, but my two big toe nails were cut at an angle. When I asked them about it, they said my toe nails grow crooked like that. I pulled up 10+ pictures of my feet after a fresh pedicure and polish to show them "no, it's just a bad job". They ended up filing them to get them straighter but now they are too short. The bigger issue is the GelX manicure. It looks awful! They look like press on nails! I went in on Saturday because I was leaving town for work on Sunday. There is a big gap between my cuticle and the polish. When I asked, the man said, I told you not to do GelX, that is just the way it is. I'd already been well over 2 hours so I just left. When I got home my husband immediately said, why do your nails look like that!? I just got back from out of town and called them to ask to speak to the manager or owner. The man says - I just work here, I don't know when they will be in. So I ask more questions and again he said- I just work here. I asked to have the manager call me but highly doubt that will happen. Every time I look at my nails, it is infuriating. I wanted fresh nails for an important business trip and I ended up with just the opposite and wasted money and over 2 hours in the process. There are several salons within blocks of this spot, no matter how important "no wait" is in the moment when you call - don't do it. It's not worth the crappy job, dirty environment and slow service. I wish I would have read the reviews first because they definitely align with my service. Now I get to go and pay someone else to fix this!
