I sincerely wish I had followed my instincts after looking up the employee reviews on Glassdoor. It says a lot about a business when you see how employees past and present feel about its management. During my outpatient treatment, I had a discussion with one of the counselors and she told me about her experience when she interviewed at BRR. She had a similar feelings about the management. The validation was really helpful. Be wary of the fact that there are relationships between staff that are important to know. I had difficulty with a mental health staff member and did not find out until later on that he is married to the main operations person. I had been told by my dietitian during a session and it was like she thought I had already known. Believe me when I say it caused more anxiety and concern. You need to know upfront that they operate on a team basis. Which under most cases wouldn't be a bad thing however you have no safe space to vent about how you feel without it being seen as a barrier to your treatment. They also have no concept in helping people deal with their "real lives" outside of ED treatment. I was denied computer time even during downtime on the weekend when I needed it most to support my licensing renewal. The one person that helped patients with "adult computer and phone time" on Wednesday's treatment team day (a non scheduled treatment morning) was soon missing from the staff. I'm pretty sure she was let go because of this incident. We are more than our eating disorder and they don't allow you to think otherwise. We all have responsibilities outside of our treatment and they look the other way. It's almost as if they don't care about other things that are important to us. Be very, very careful if you have other things that you need to address while in treatment. Also be careful about how you answer the intake questions. I mentioned something that was related to an iron deficiency. It was seen as a behavior, and thus I was never allowed ice in my water or other drinks. It pissed me off to no end and of course that just made them feel like it was justified. Hard enough to have to eat so much food and snacks and not be able to have just a cold glass of water. It was messed up. Pretty much everything is a "behavior" until they say otherwise. I also found out later when I went back to my primary treatment team at Kaiser that they were kept pretty much in the dark about details of the treatment. There was no formal documentation. I later requested my treatment records from BRR, and it took well over eight weeks to receive it, which was clearly against the law. I don't think they had a reporting system set up that would adequately document the treatment plan in notes. Only after I went to Kaiser's membership services that surprisingly I received it within the next two days. I'm glad other people had a good experience and are thankful for their treatment. However, this place is not for everyone! Do your homework before making a decision on your treatment plans. I hope this is helpful. I also encourage you to read the review by Kenneth G. As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 15 years of experience specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, I feel professionally and ethically compelled to speak out about serious concerns related to this residential facility. In my professional opinion, the clinical practices at this center fall far below the standard of care required for safe and effective eating disorder treatment. I observed a pattern of disorganized care, poor clinical follow-through, and deeply concerning discharge practices. In some instances these actions or lack thereof bordered on clinical abandonment. Most troubling is the apparent tendency of the program to operate in ways that appear self-serving at the expense of patient care. Decisions seemed driven more by internal convenience or institutional priorities than by clinical necessity or ethical responsibility. Eating disorder recovery requires consistency, integrity, and a patient-centered approach. Based on what I've seen, I cannot recommend this facility and strongly encourage families and professionals to choose a different treatment center. read more

The professionalism was not the greatest. It mainly gives a self-serving environment that benefits the employees or those in higher power. It mainly serves as a training ground for many workers there in which one is married to another within the staff. A friend of ours recommended better options with True quality care and expertise which can be achieved and received at Center for Discovery or University based outpatient care that are actively implementing research evidence based practices such as UCLA, UCSD and many others. I have received quality care from Bright Road Recovery professionals. Their counselors are very caring about their patients as well as knowledgeable about nutrition, and helping me get through my mental health and dealing with my trauma. I really don't think I would have improved in my recovery without their help since I have so many complex disorders. They set me up for success for years to come, and I recommend this place to everybody who is struggling with eating disorder and mental health and trauma. Bright Road literary saved my life. I was really sick when I came to. them. I was also engaged in my eating disorder. I was scared to eat. Tamsin and Melissa really worked with me hands on no matter how long it took me to complete a meal. They didn't allow my eating disorder to take over. I remember Tamson telling me (no restriction no matter what) That saying saved me. Everytime I thought about restricting, I thought of that saying. It took me a while but I was eating all my meals and snacks and not restricting. I am so grateful to Tamson, Melissa and the Bright Road team for never giving up on me. read more

I came to Bright Road as my last hope. No other treatment center would take me and I was not doing well medically or mentally. They took me in and immediately I could tell this was going to be so much better than any other experience I've had in residentials. At Bright Road, they will do anything it takes to get you to eat. They will support you until you finish even if it takes hours. They don't take no for an answer and restricting becomes not an option. I needed this so bad to get me to where I am now. I needed to be "forced" (but not actually forced) to eat so I could be nourished enough to decide I want to recover. They supported me through 8 hour long panic attacks, autism meltdowns and serious SI. They are so individualized with their approach. Each patient gets different treatment depending on what they need to succeed. And they will do anything to make sure you succeed. The staff is incredible. Everyone is so supportive. I'm doing the best I've ever been after being at Bright Road and I'm so incredibly grateful for the staff. read more

I've been a patient in Bright Road's PHP and IOP programs, and while every treatment center SAYS they offer "individualized treatment plans", at BRR it's actually true. They really got to know me as an individual and tailored the program to address my needs (both therapeutically and with scheduling/treatment planning). The staff is friendly, professional, knowledgeable, down to earth, and clearly passionate about supporting people in recovery. This place saved my life. I was in their residential program for 6 weeks during the darkest time of my life. Bright Roads completely turned things around with my eating disorder. I got so much one on one attention it was amazing. I felt really cared for at BR and the nutritionist was AWESOME. So was the woman who runs it she really cares. I am really shocked to see the other review here and felt compelled to post this because of it. I know they deal with some tough clients but I truly saw nothing but grace and care with everyone no matter what. read more

I would give zero stars for their residential program! Absolutely HORRIBLE care to the point of malpractice! I do not know how they have a license to run a residential program. Unqualified staff, incorrect meds, incorrect supplements, food program not built for individual needs. Why would they give the same portions and meals to under weight & overweight patients? False advertising on their website. The house displayed is not the house for residential program. Regular schedule of therapy did not happen. Most were cancelled or meaningless. Had a lot of free time. For an eating disorder program how does a patient leave more under weight than when they began. Very appalled by the lack of care and nutritional program. I highly do not recommend! Funny how you cannot find any reviews from previous patients on their website. But there are a ton from previous staff on job search websites. read more
