I followed Bright Line Eating and lost weight. Despite the program's claims, it is a diet. Though the program does not count calories, if you count the calories you are eating each day on the weight-loss plan, it amounts to 1,200+/-. So of course, you will lose weight on this plan. And one size supposedly fits all on the weight-loss plan (before you get to "maintenance"). Just no sugar, no flour, no snacking and weighed portions.
I paid $497 to join a Bootcamp, only to later learn that there are $300 discounts available if you know someone who has one (a "Bright Lifer"). That is a huge difference! They won't let anyone post their discounts publicly because they don't want this to be public knowledge.
Days before Bootcamp was ending, I was finally presented the details about joining the next offering called Bright Lifers. And it was a high-pressure sales tactic, saying that I had about 48-72 hours to decide--and pay another $497 for a year in Bright Lifer's up front--or the price would double! This from the founder and president Susan Peirce Thompson, who purports to love and care about us all. I did not have that money right then, but I bought into the spiel that Bright Lifers lose more weight because there is value in staying close to the "mothership."
So, I wrote in to support@ and asked if I could pay the lower amount but monthly. And I heard back that I was being given a "scholarship" because other Bright Lifers had donated for this purpose. So I was a charity case. Um, really? My "scholarship" was simply allowing me to spread the $497 over 12 monthly payments. I mean, c'mon! Even my auto insurer lets me do this. And they may tack on an extra $1 per month. But they do not charge me double!
Once a Bright Lifer, I got to listen to the daily Accountability Calls and periodic Coaching Calls. And a pattern emerged: much of the "coaching" seemed coincidentally to steer people toward whatever the next upcoming program or offering happened to be, whether from Susan or one of her affiliate partners: The Energy Blueprint, Bright Line Healing 1 & 2, Bright Line Mind (parts work), etc. And each course had the standard $497 price tag! Yikes!
Recently, many Bright Line Eaters have joined the fasting bandwagon, with Susan Peirce Thompson participating in this as well. It started as Bright Line eaters doing the Fasting Mimicking Diet, which was, of course, created by someone outside Bright Line Eating. But Bright Line Eating swiftly co-opted this diet with minor adjustments and now includes it as their "Metabolic Reset Plan." Note that the word "diet" has been removed from the original name.
The latest "must have" is the current "Reboot Rezoom" course for, yes, $497! Supposedly, Susan has finally figured out how to help people who fall off the wagon on her plan--if they were ever even successful to begin with. Many folks who have paid for this new course have already paid thousands of dollars to Bright Line Eating! If there is new info out there to make this plan actually stick for people, why charge them more? Just share it with your "tribe," Susan! But wait, Bright Line Eating is really just a business.
When I hear Susan tell Bright Line eaters that they "bless her," all I can think its that she actually means "ble$$"!
There are many people doing Bright Line Eating who worship the ground Susan Peirce Thompson walks on. And who lose tons of weight. But there are many others now in recovery from the restricting that Bright Line Eating mandates and who have run out of money to throw Bright Line Eating's way. I am sure Susan does love her tribe--all the way to the bank. read more
