Good mix of new & used records. Not a massive selection of used rock records, but a good amount of…read moreclassical and jazz makes up for that. They even had a couple crates of Broadway soundtracks the day we stopped in. Though we didn't look through them, you can also get CDs, cassettes and even 8-tracks here. The store itself is super crowded - narrow aisles, things precariously stacked about in places. Get more than a few people in here and it's hard to move around. It was also quite cold inside as they left the front door open (in January) the entire time we were there. The owner is fantastic and helpful and knows where his stock is. Prices vary and are generally pretty good - less expensive than other places in town, for the most part. Sidetracks will definitely be a stop for us any time we're in town.

BUYER BEWARE I have been going to this store for years to…read moretry to support local business, but I have had enough. Here are some major complaints I have. 1) The store is run like a pawn shop and not a hobbyist store. From the bikes, to the dirty birdcage. 2) The quality of the products is questionable at best. The items are not stored properly, often in a pile inside or outside of the store. The items themselves are often damaged. I had purchased a preowned switch lite on layaway which was scratched and it took over a month to get a different one. 3) The service is terrible because you will be in an incredibly confined location surrounded by junk and she will spend 30 minutes helping the customer who came in after you before helping you. You will also wait for an incredibly long time (weeks to months) to get anything if you try to order it through this store. 4) The pricing is awful. I had asked for an exchange. The original switch lite for a screen protector and a switch lite without scratches, and instead I received, paying well over an additional $90, a cheap rubber casing I didn't ask for, rubber skin for the switch lite which I didn't ask for, a micro SD card, and the replacement switch. You will pay next to full price for used items. 5) THERE ARE FAKES SOLD HERE. The micro-SD card I mentioned in #5 was not the 256 GB listed, but a fake which was around 10 GB at best. It corrupted my save data and has forced me to abandon long-term saves (playing for months) for Animal Crossing New Horizons and more. When confronted she only gave me $30 (out of the aforementioned $90) and I was forced to purchase a functional micro-SD card elsewhere. BUYER BEWARE.

I've been visiting this record store (in it's several locations) for about 20 years now and it's…read morenever let me down. The bargains aren't as prevalent as they used to be pre-Ebay and Discogs, but there are still some deals to be had. The main thing about this store is that the owner, Sam, is a condition guy. He really only buys records that are in good shape. The jacket may be torn to shreds, but the disc inside will be near perfect, and those with shredded jackets are usually in his dollar bin. Every time I walk into this store I find something I've been looking for all over the place. He's got a great records throughout from his dollar bin to his collectibles section, you're sure to find something (if not several things) to suit your fancy. Downtown Records remains one of my top stores in the US. The only down side is that due to the owner's real occupation he's only open on Saturdays and closes up completely for tax season.
