My grandchildren attended the Dot Day activity at the South Point Branch. Jan always has the art well organized and explains the procedure. We go to all the activities that their schedule will allow and they always look forward to them. The summer reading program is always a hit. Thank you for providing such a wide range of activities for the community--children and adults. read more

Though I no longer live in Jackson, I am a frequent visitor, and today the Jackson Public Library saved me with their free wifi! I was pleasantly surprised to find a fully open and free broadband network that would let me finish my work without the frustration of dialup or satellite internet. For the area, the library is well stocked and can usually order books if you ask. It has a very pleasant feel, though a bit on the warm side for me. The help desk was true it its name when I had asked about free wifi. Not only can you borrow books, but you're also able to send faxes, browse an amazing selection of local history, newspapers, and other periodicals, and hop one of the many computers available. If you find yourself in Jackson looking for a free network or wanting to bone up on your southern Ohio history, come to the public library! It's a great place to work for a few hours!

Finally, they have a number of programs for kids and this location isn't too far from a couple of the schools.

Now this particular bridge is located off KY route 7 in Northern Greenup Co. Very easy to find, yet if not careful you can easily pass it by. There are no signs like in the state of Indiana telling you there is a covered bridge ahead. Also, you can actually drive across this bridge because it is still used for automobile traffic. It spans 159 ft across Tygart Creek. This vintage beauty was built in 1855 and repaired in 1915. Damaged in flood in 1997, and repaired again. This is a Wheeler Truss Bridge, only example still standing. That's very interesting.
