This is my second favorite beach at the (South) Jersey shore! The first is without a doubt Strathmere. I just enjoy peace and quiet when I go to the beach and I have found these two particular beaches to be the most relaxing I've ever visited in this area. There's no boardwalk, so I think it keeps the chaos down a bit and the patrons of a certain caliber, shall we say. It's also not as "clicky" as say a Margate or Vetnor, where I know I'll see everyone I've ever known. I like a beach day/trip to be an escape. I want time to just enjoy my family and the sea without dealing with noise from games, loud music, smells of fried foods or catching up with people I haven't seen in years and don't want to see every visit. I get the serenity I desire here. The beach is wide and very clean. It is a trek to the water, but I feel most South Jersey beaches are the same. Parking is fairly simple (and free!), but beach tags are required here (not at Strathmere). Only until 5pm however. After that, swimming is at your own risk as the lifeguards leave, but it also clears out and the sunsets are just lovely!! It's at that time we have the entire place to ourselves! It's amazing! There are Porto Potties available at almost every entrance we've headed in through. When we want to hear some live music or grab a drink with our toes on the sand, we head in near Laguna Rum Bar. They have a parking lot and valet option for customers. Many cover bands, even lesser known bands play there. It's a cool vibe when we want more of an entire day/night thing. It's is kid friendly and they have plenty of Adirondack chairs and even a few games for the kiddos. Most recently we parked at the tip near 30th Street. There were boat rentals, restrooms and plenty of trash receptacles, even a recycling bin for found fishing line to keep the sea-life safe! Love this!! It was definitely less populated down this way. We've attended movies on the beach here at night with the kiddos and other fun events! Check their social media for happenings! There are views of AC, which I happen to like very much in the distance and in recent years Borgata Casino & Spa started running a complimentary shuttle here in the summer for guests. It's one of the closest options to Philly, and a very peaceful one too. There's smaller, family owned places to eat and even some to grab pretty tasty and healthier food to bring to the beach for lunching too. Brigantine is overall a clean, family friendly beach and town. I love driving over the bridge to get here and seeing the bay and the people boating and hanging at the inlet right there. It's a a very cool option to spend some time there if you're beaching here and have a 4x4!

I've only been to Brigantine once but I know it's a shore town that will rank among my favorites in New Jersey for years to come. I'd love to rent a beach home here in the future. It's the perfect place for someone like me. It's even the ideal size. You won't walk a mile to the ocean, but you will have enough room to carve out your group's plot away from the crowds. I visited my friend who is a season tag holder, so I didn't have to worry about parking or permits. I'd say the only possible negative here would be the lack of public restrooms. You either do your thing in the ocean or run home! My day here was much too short. I loved the calm waves, the peaceful, clean environment, and welcoming feel. Sigh. Bring me back!

I'm always looking for dog friendly beaches and a friend of mine recommended Brigantine off season. What a perfect day it turned out to be! We got there in the late morning on a sunny crisp day. The parking lots were empty. There were very few people around and Caye had the run of the place, rolling in the sand, feasting on dead sea gull body parts, spitting up ocean water - he had a ball! There was one car which was driving crazily up and down the stretch of beach where I was, so that worried me a bit, but once he saw that there were people and dogs, he drove further away. Much appreciated. I have not been here during prime season, so I don't know much about how the whole beach tag situation works, but off season, I hoped for the Don't Ask, Don't Tell scenario.

I really like this beach on the South Jersey shore. Given all the many options available, this beach has many pros that make it a great choice for families and less for the Jersey Shore crowd. + The sand is super clean and free from any rocks - both on the main beach itself as well as in the water. Really good for young kids. + The ocean is not too choppy. Again, makes it quite safe for most everyone, especially the really young ones. Depending on the tides, shallow water bodies get formed making a great paddling pool for the even smaller kids. + The beach itself is quite big. And given no boardwalk, it almost always attracts a certain type of crowd which is more family friendly - in my opinion. + One of the cleanest beaches I have been to on the NJ coast. There are trash barrels at regular intervals and the crowd ensures the surroundings are tidy, Other things to know: - Parking is restricted. You need to have the seasonal beach pass stickers on in order to park. - There are no public bathrooms / showers / rest rooms - I did not come across any handicap accessible path - The beach is in a residential neighborhood and hence no shops or restaurants nearby in walking distance. All in all, a great beach to spend the day with family and friends.

Found and rescued this baby dog fish last night on the beach

What a beautiful clean and relaxing beach! My mother just bought a house here and I was so excited to come check out the beach with my boyfriend this past Saturday night! We arrived around 10 pm and there were a few people on the beach. The sand here is as clean as can be with no sharp rocks on my feet at all, smooth from the entrance to the shore line. I didn't see any garbage at all! As I walked to the waters edge I noticed something on the shore line and ran to it, turns out it was a baby beached dogfish. My boyfriend and I were a little startled at first but tried to work as fast as possible to get him back in the water with his friends that I saw chasing small fish along the shore line which is probably how this little guy got beached in the first place. We grabbed him by the tail and threw him back in. I'm really looking forward to coming here during the day and checking it out! I think they should really add some type of public bathroom/showers to this beach I mean where are you supposed to go?

What a fantastic beach! My heart is in Brigantine Beach. I've taken vacations to Brigantine since I was a young child and hope to continue visiting well into my golden years. The beach itself is very clean and its a family atmosphere. There are no gimmicks with Brigantine beach- most of the beach on the island is strictly gorgeous stretches of beach. If you are looking for a flashy boardwalk, arcade games or junk food this is the wrong spot. Depending where you are at, the sand has minimal shells/broken shells and you can go into the ocean with jabbing your toes. It's a great beach town as well- tons of restaurants and shops downtown and scattered throughout the island. There are many rental properties as well.

Beautiful beach! The kids really enjoy it. Early morning and usually after 5/6pm there are hardly any people out.

Beautiful beach! The best times to go are before 11 am and just after 5/6pm. It is still warm enough to enjoy the beach and you miss all the summer crowds! The best part, almost zero trash and the kids love finding hermit crabs out here. Really a wonderful place to visit. Lifeguards are usually out at the swim areas by 9am.

Brigantine Beach is my most favorite place! We have had a second home here for over 30 years. That being said - I don't want anyone else coming here!! We are crowded enough on summer weekends! (Just kidding, I think.) If you want to buy a home here - please do - it's a wonderful, residential, not over- built Shore community with a great beach, excellent lifeguards, decent parking and good restaurants (and an exceptional bakery). Nancy Ferri is the truly the best realtor - at Remax. She is conscientious and totally knows the Island.

I visit this beach each year with my family. The beach is very wide and had nice sand. The water color isn't a great color like you see down in Florida but you shouldn't expect that this far north on the Atlantic. This is pretty much the nicest beach you can expect for the area. Not too many people and very safe.

Gorgeous and clean beach. Very low key and family friendly. Beach tags required and Seasonal parking passes are $25 at the Beach Fee Office.

This is a gorgeous and very clean beach that is great for families or individuals looking to relax. Beach tags are required and seasonal parking passes are $25 at the beach fee office. Worth it to park close if you don't live nearby. No flushing toilets but there are portable toilets at various beach entrances.

I spent my summers in Brigantine and it has not changed. It is a beautiful beach with ample parking and bathrooms. The beach is always clean, but remember there is a fee to spend the day at the beach so dont forget your cash. That is what keeps them pristine. This is by far the best beach in New Jersey!!! Safe, clean, and a wonderful place to spend the day or week.

Would be 5 stars if there were more public (non-portapotty) bathrooms available. But beautiful clean beaches otherwise.

Ask the Community - Brigantine Beach

Is the beach open to walk on late October without a beach access fee? Also are there bars with live music still open last weekend in October?

As we come from New York, there's a lot of beaches and pools that are only for residents, so I wonder if this one Brigatine beach a non-residents beach? Please let me know, we are staying in a close resort and thinking about going over there tomorrow

Anyone can use the beach if they buy a beach tag first just like most of the beaches in the area. They’re available at the Beach Tag office https://bb-nj.org/about-brigantine/beach-tags/ It’s $8 per person for the day or $25 per person for the… Read more
