I am sharing this to help protect future guests…read more I stayed at a property managed by The Litchfield Company (Litchfield Beach & Golf) and encountered a severely worn and defective mattress that created an unsafe sleeping condition. As a result, I suffered a back injury that caused significant pain and ultimately required surgical intervention. Publicly available guest reviews indicate that the issue I experienced is not isolated, but part of a broader and recurring pattern within Sandpiper Run units at Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort. Multiple reviewers describe mattresses as worn, structurally compromised, or uncomfortable, including reports of beds with "a huge dip in the center" and others where guests could feel "nothing but springs," resulting in back pain during their stay. Additional reviews note beds falling apart. This was not a matter of comfort--it was a condition that should have been identified and corrected before renting the unit. The issue was reported, and while a representative responded, Doug Gordan, there was no meaningful resolution or indication that the condition would be addressed. This experience raises serious concerns about property inspection standards and guest safety. I strongly recommend that future renters verify the condition of beds and furnishings before booking.

On Thursday, I was about to call and cancel... since the clubs weren't supposed to be dropped off till the next morning. Before I call, I get a message from them that my clubs are waiting for me at the golf course I was scheduled to play on Friday. I call them and see if I can cancel, but was told that it took a while (45 minutes) to deliver the clubs to the course and they'd have to send someone to pick them up too... so they'd have to charge me a few days, but could refund the rest by Venmo. That's not ideal, considering they delivered them early and didn't deliver them where I asked, but I gave them my info. I never heard anything back. So, they delivered the clubs a day early, to the wrong location, and I got charged 5 days for nothing. I don't know the company, they may rent great clubs and be good folks, but it wasn't a good experience on my end.

He delivered the clubs as promised and they appeared almost brand new. The weekly rate was very reasonable. I dropped them off at his home after the week was out and spent 30 minutes talking to him ... real nice guy, great rate, great company.

There was a white, creamy crust dried onto the bead spread. The kitchen was dirty and dated isn't even to be word to describe the decor. The pictures posted of the property online were very misleading. The women in the rental office are extremely rude and kept saying they would send someone to re- clean while we were at the place- During COVID. Like no big deal we will send a stranger over to breath on your family for an hour while We reclean. IT should be clean when you arrive, not after. She just kept saying the same thing over and over as if it would become ok suddenly?) Also, the place smelled like stale, old smoke. She tried to say it was the cleaner that smelled like smoke. They use a smoke scented cleaner?! Overall, I would never do business with this rental company again. The unprofessional attitude and rudeness of the employees was too much to deal with on vacation! We ended up leaving and staying in a nicer, clean place for a lot less money!
