They are not welcoming, but they ARE cheap in the other sense. My bottle of wine was put in a paper bag small enough for a couple of candy bars-when I asked for a bag that would actually hold the wine, the cashier told me it would be 25 cents more. Anyone viewing this place as a "discount" store probably hasn't been to any liquor stores off of Staten Island, where it seems that pricing wine and liquor higher than most anywhere else is the rule, not the exception. Pay the toll and go to Bayway World right across the Goethels Bridge, or go to Super Buy Rite right at the Holland Tunnel entrance in Jersey City. See how you're being ripped off by virtually every Staten Island liquor store with the EXECPTION of SI Discount Liquor on Forest-an oasis in a desert of maddeningly price gouging Staten Island liquor stores. Pete Milano's isn't worth visiting. Spend your money elsewhere. Also note that every positive review is between 4-9 years old. The current owners are trading on the Pete Milano name. Shame on them.

A few minutes later, another customer approaches the counter and the Asian lady tells him to go to the other counter. When she finishes helping the customer purchasing the lottery tickets, she then walks over to the other customer. My presence was not acknowledged by this worker who told the customer behind me to go to another register as I waited. The customer saw me approach and began apologizing although it was not his fault or wrongdoing. The worker still never acknowledged what she did! The worker shrugged her shoulders as I told her "I am not making a purchase here" , left my wine on the counter, and proceeded to walk out the door! I will never return! There are plenty of other options on Forest avenue!

This is a large liquor store with a big parking lot. I was on a scotch hunt, and these guys have a…read moregreat selection. So why 1 star? The prices here are insane. I've been hunting the new Game of Thrones bottles. I've paid the following prices in NJ: $63.99, $67.99, $42.99 and $33.99 for the bottles I've bought. Those same bottles here are $129.99, $79.99, $79.99 and $59.99. That is an insane mark-up, the price of gas and the bridge toll is cheaper than shopping here. I bought the Oban Night's watch bottle in SI for $108 (with tax) at Empire, here is was 129.99 (pre-tax). To review, I've spent $300 for 5 bottles, these guys wanted over $500 for the same 5 bottles. The most offensive thing though was that they had the 3 missing bottles I needed to complete my set, but would not sell them separately. They would only sell me all 8 in a set... for $980! That's more expensive than Ebay, and means they were holding those 3 last bottles hostage for nearly $500! Ridiculous. I ended up buying 2 bottles because, like I said, these guys have a great selection and I'd never seen them before. I paid $60 for one and $90 for the other. When I got home, I looked them up and the suggested retail prices are $50 and $70. So in the end I got scammed for $30, which is a lot better than $500, but still just goes to show these guys know what they are doing and don't care. I'll never go back here or buy another bottle from them. If you like overpaying, this place is all yours. Never again for me.
