I was hoping it didn't come to this but I have no choice. I gave them every apology I could think…read moreof because of the fact I lost my cool, when they refused to acknowledge an error on the part of the dentistry and refused to correct the issue as much as possible. I went to see Dr. Patel previously, when I had a previous tooth on my bottom pulled. That tooth never gave me an issue and it was not very important to keep. This time when I went to see her, I had mild but substantial pain. She took x-rays of only the bottom of my mouth because I said the pain was coming from that side on the bottom. She couldn't find anything but instead said that it might be my tooth coming in contact with another tooth. She shaved part of the tooth in front of the one that I thought was the one causing pain. She then told me to bite down and rub back and forth on a sandpaper like substance to get my bite aligned. Long story short, when I arrived home I started having severe pain and I could then tell it was coming from up top, my 2nd molar. She had told me that all the nerves were interconnected on the whole side, so I asked her why she didn't take x-rays of the top at the time. She said it was because I thought that it was coming from a particular tooth and I also pointed to an area or tooth. I asked her if they were all interconnected then why didn't she realize she should have taken x-rays of the top, too. When I came back in the next day, the pain was extreme and I told her I'd like to save the tooth. I had no idea that my 2nd molar was gone underneath and losing the top 2nd would be a huge deal. I asked her if she could do anything like put a crown on it. She explained that I would have to have all this work done; which consisted of going to an endodontist and coming back to her and impressions and going through all these steps and a large financial burden and likely being in pain the whole time. I asked her if she thought that about 75% of people would choose the same decision and she said "yes, about that." Later that night, I realized I made a huge mistake when it was hard to even deal with that tooth being gone. I could not chew anything or even spit the same. My bite felt severely weakened. I did not notice much difference with the bottom 2nd molar gone or another tooth that she had also pulled, previously. It turns out having both your 2nd molars gone can cause a plethora of problems. My complaint about all this is that I feel she could have possibly purposely not took x-rays of the top knowing that I could have had something going on in my top teeth, which I hope it not true at all and also, the fact that she did not recommend a root canal, when I assumed that all dentists did them and when I asked her if she could put a crown on, I asked her if she could put "a crown or do anything" to save my tooth and she failed to tell me about a simple root canal and being able to save my natural tooth. I know that 75% of people in that situation would not have chosen to pull it, when they could have had a root canal. It would be a very low number, that only an idiot would make, probably because they don't have many teeth anyway. Personally, I work my tail off to keep them brushed properly and always try to preserve my teeth whenever at all possible, which it definitely was.

The owner/husband of the dentist told me to bring a letter saying it's okay to get the dental care being that I was in my first trimester of pregnancy. I brought the letter from my PCP since I didn't have a prenatal care visit yet since it was too early. When I get there the dentist assistants told me that letter isn't good enough and I could sign a waiver to get the x-rays done but basically scared me out of it so I said I would wait. When I finally get my letter from my prenatal care doctor 2 months later I call and I make an appointment SPECIFICALLY to get my fillings done. I asked the girl SPECIFICALLY on the phone (front desk girl with birth mark on her forehead) can I get my fillings done after I have my x-rays? She said yes. I get to my appointment 10 minutes early and fill out some paperwork, I wait AN HOUR to be pulled to the back and they take all the x-rays (this took 5 minutes). The dentist came in to tell me about the x-rays and I said I just want to get my fillings done, she said we can't do that today. I said what do you mean I specifically made this appointment to do that. The dentist said well it took so long to do your x-rays and we're booked. I got out of the chair and said I'm leaving. Now upset and frustrated and pregnant with raging hormones I'm really upset crying on the side of their building. My mom pulls up a couple minutes later, I tell her what happened and she goes in there and says how do you book an appointment for my daughter to get her fillings done and not do her fillings? They front desk girl said okay to my mother like they were going to do them so I go back in and she pulls me to the back to tell me again THEY OVERBOOKED, not my fault, theirs for not knowing how to schedule...so I get even more upset and raise my voice, the "owner/husband" to the dentist comes back there yelling and telling me what I can and can't do and I did start cursing at that point, he said, "I'm the owner and you can get out". I said that's fine and I won't be coming back. I leave and ask my mother to get my dental records and she goes back in to get them, they tell me to come back in, she said how dumb is that you kicked her out and now you're asking her to come back in? When I go back in the office the "owner/husband" is pointing his finger very threatening like in my mother's face and telling her she needs to get an education, and telling her she can't do anything with a Bachelor's degree and that he's from Europe as if he is better than us. He was demeaning, disrespectful, and very customer unfriendly. The whole time he is going off his wife "the dentist" is just standing there saying nothing just looking. I am explaining to the dentist (still saying nothing as if she is scared of her husband) that I have been there over an hour, I'm pregnant and they sit there and tell me I can get my x-rays done and then my fillings just to tell me they can't do it because they overbooked, the only smart one was the other dental assistant who said, "that is very understandable that you're upset" and the front desk girl had the nerve to say she never told me I could get my fillings done as if my pregnant self would sit there for over an hour for just some x-rays. Not to mention they did not give me my FULL dental records. They only gave me only 2 pages and that included one x-ray and a bill for possible services in the future which I've had at least 2 x-rays at their office so they're withholding my records illegally!! There is nothing better than a practitioner who "nerds out" on what he does - you know he's passionate about it. I immediately liked them both. Over the years, I grew alongside the practice. Despite expanding, adding another office, and relocating to Brandon, Dr. Arnold, Teri, and the rest of the staff remained exactly what made them special from the beginning: grounded, professional, caring, and genuinely invested in my dental health. They always worked with me as partners to achieve the best possible outcomes. In many ways, they felt more like friends than healthcare providers. One thing that always impressed me about Dr. Arnold is his honesty. He doesn't sugarcoat anything--you get a straightforward assessment of your condition and the available options. At the same time, he provides thoughtful, well-developed treatment plans and clearly explains each option so you can make informed decisions. His directness is balanced by compassion, empathy, and a complete absence of judgment. Teri and the office staff are absolute experts when it comes to insurance and billing. If there's a way to maximize your benefits and minimize your costs, they'll find it. When I underwent Invisalign treatment to correct an overbite that was largely cosmetic rather than functional, Dr. Arnold and his staff helped me take advantage of discounts and other opportunities that saved me literally thousands of dollars. Another quality I greatly appreciated is Dr. Arnold's attention to detail. He can be a perfectionist--and in cosmetic dentistry, that's a tremendous asset. He was completely transparent about this, and while I appreciated his commitment to achieving the best possible result, I wasn't eager to spend another few years in Invisalign trays. We discussed it openly, aligned on our goals, and developed a plan we were both happy with. That experience perfectly reflects one of Dr. Arnold's greatest strengths: communication.
