The market has a really good butchers and a news agents. There is a multi story car park that leads right into the Rhiw with motability wheelchar rental on the third floor. Its not a huge shopping center but you walk through it to get to the main street and there is always something to stop and look at

There is also parking behind Wilkinsons, which is cheaper to park in but does mean an extra 1 minute walk :-) There is also a market ajoined to the Rhiw with all sorts of stalls including electronic store, sweets, cafes and butchers.

The best (and only) place to park for Ogmore Beach, you can't miss it. Free for those with disabled…read morebadges but otherwise there are charges (pay and display) - see my photo for details. Not a huge amount of spaces and a tricky little mini roundabout to negotiate at one end. Right next to the beach, just clamber down the grassy bank.

It is a convenient place to deal with any business withthe council and has long opening hours (8am - 7pm Monday to Friday) The centre also hosts advice surgeries from other organisations and charities, for example weekly drop-in surgeries from Age Concern. The Customer Service Centre offers all mod cons - it's fully accessible for everyone and also offers a bilingual service. They have provided self-serve computer kiosks for online payments, viewing planning applications, downloading forms or obtaining copies of publications You can also speak to an advisor in the numerous Private interview rooms. When the walkway is complete it will be even easier to get straight to the offices - Not that it's difficult at the moment. Closest parking is the Rhiw, although disabled people can call ahead to have a dedicated parking space provided closer.

Used to use this Autocentre but no more! Last week my son…read morewas quoted £150 to adjust the handbrake of his Fiesta, expensive he thought so decided to do the job himself and found there is only one nut at the brake handle! As this was following an MOT failure he replaced the rear brake shoes and brake fluid. But the Ferodo disbonded from one of the shoes on the way to the re-test leaving the car un-driveable. It was left for a quotation, £212 they said, at £76/hr for labour plus parts for replacement of both rear wheel cylinders, rear brake shoes and brake fluid. Instead, we had the car recovered home, replaced the wheel cylinders (neither of which were actually damaged) and the brake shoes were replaced under warranty. Whilst waiting another customer came in and had his car diagnosed with a broken front spring and bearing mount, his quote was about £180 which is probably fair but he should have been advised to change both front springs as a matched pair as a matter of safety and good practice. When I asked about this, I was told the 'company' did not want a reputation for advising people to spend money un-necessarily and so no longer made such recommendations. Many people regard Halfords as experts in their field and trust them to keep their families safe! Halfords, you should be ashamed of yourselves! Far better to support your local 'man in a van' with a pre-MOT service, get the car tested, and if it fails, have it recovered to your man's workshop! Simple.....(?).
