Such a surreal experience. Climbing all the way to the summit of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and back down was something I will never forget. The climb was tough and a bit of a struggle for me, but I think that's just because I'm not very active. Even though it was hard at times, it was so worth it. The views from the top were beautiful. You can see the whole city and the water, and it just feels so peaceful up there. You can't take your phone with you, but I definitely recommend getting the photo package after. The pictures turned out great and it's such a nice memory to have. The whole experience felt super safe. You are harnessed to the bridge the entire time, and everything is really well organised. We had the most amazing tour guide who made sure everyone was going at a good pace and having fun. They really made the experience even better. If you are visiting Sydney, this is something you have to do. It's challenging but so rewarding.

Duplicate review, also see Sydney Harbor Bridge 5 star review, if it was not for the price... Yelp check-in, see picture; but it was not for the Harbor Bridge... Quality/Quantity - Very organized. It is the same price if you paid in person versus online. Since we have been hanging out in this area almost daily, we decided to go with the online registration. Smooth and easy. Plenty of time slots. Prepay for your pictures, it saves you $5AUD; not that it makes much of a difference out of the $750AUD we spent. The climb itself is NOT scary, even if you are afraid of heights; I am not. Really safe. If you have done the treetop obstacle courses, the safety systems are similar. Super windy today - 40km, but still no problem with the climb. Several options (5), we choose the one that spent the most time on TOP of the bridge. Lots of phone moments, YES they are super strict and will double check that you are NOT bringing anything against their policies. We even took breathalyzer tests, walked through metal detectors, etc. They have free secure lockers for all your belongings and clothes. Atmosphere - Free wifi. As you enter, they have a monitor running all the famous people that have done the climb, what a GREAT sales tool! Upstair waiting area, arrive 5 minutes before your time slot. Small museum/visitor center, history of the bridge. Very small cafe & gift shop. Street parking, we have been using public transportation and Uber. Open 7 days a week, rain or shine from 9am to 8pm. We also chose the day's climb because we felt that although the city lights would have been beautiful, we did not need to see it from a bridge. Service - 5 stars, from the people that checked us in to our wonderfully funny tour guide. Many different promotions & packages, see website. Too bad none of them applied to us. Obviously no bathrooms once the climb starts. There were one or two water breaks during the climb. At the end of the tour, you get an opportunity to buy your pictures. Our tour guide did a better job with our pictures than expected. Approximately 35 pictures for the both of us! Minimum health and safety requirements, see website. Price - $750AU, $502US. Expensive, but just like the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, you just need to DO it. :) LOL. Photo packages from $54.95 to $69.95. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1998. Thank you, glad we did it, even at your prices. Actually, I think it is a genius business idea to generate $$ towards the bridge.

Truly a once in a lifetime type of experience. How often can you say that you climbed on top of a bridge? If you're ever visiting Sydney Australia I would definitely consider allocating some time for this. My fiance and I decided to do the Summit climb which was roughly 3 hours long and varied in price depending on the time you choose. We opted for 11am which was cheaper than the 5-7pm time slot, but not as cold as the 6-8pm time slot. After checking in, the tour guide goes through introductions and breathalyzes everyone to make sure they are sober enough for the physical activity. So don't even think about drinking beforehand haha! During the next hour, you are changing into all of the safety gear and going through all of the safety trainings which include climbing up a set of practice ladders to give you a hand-on feel for what to expect which is really cool. Once all of the training is done, the 1.5 hour climb begins by hooking your safety suit into a guided rail that runs along the entire length of the Sydney Harbour Bridge ensuring your safety. I appreciate how the tour guide explains the history of the bridge as you walk underneath it and climb your way to the top. The Summit package included 2 photo ops with multiple pictures taken at each; one near the top overlooking the Sydney Opera House which was absolutely stunning and another at the very top of the bridge. When you get back and remove your safety gear, you can purchase the pics which is awesome! I totally understand that $344/person is not cheap, but if you have the opportunity, the experience is priceless. I had so much fun and the memories I now have will last a lifetime.

Sydney Bridge Climb The iconic Sydney Bridge is world renowned with each year one of first and memorable places that celebrate New Years with a bang and fireworks coming from a top the bridge. Prior to the BridgeClimb, you will need about 45 minutes to an hour prep time before you actually start the climb. First you will see a short video instruction, then you disrobe to your underwear, put on a cover all jumpsuit, place everything else in a locker. No wallet, phone, keys, watch is allowed, glasses are permitted as long g as they are on a on a strap. From there you get strapped into a harness, then you do a practice climb on very steep ladders similar to what you will face. Once that is done, you walk out hook in and walk on the lower portion of the Sydney Bridge. You start the climb, scale the top of the bridge, go to the center where the flags are, cross over and scale down. Just an unbelievable view and experience, nothing like you will ever experience in your life. For the rest of my life, when I see the Sydney Bridge, New Years or not, I can say I have scaled the top of the Sydney Bridge!!

Climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of those bucket list items that you just have to do when you're in the city. You are in for an unforgettable experience if you don't mind splurging (came out to about $200 USD after using a promo code, but expect it to be about $250 USD full price, and we spent an additional $32 USD for the digital photo package). My fiancé and I did the Summit climb during winter (August) which was also on the same day as the Fifa Women's World Cup finals, so they were booked up. Definitely reserve in advance! Make sure to arrive 15-30 min before your time. I'm glad that they enforced starting right at our assigned time because three people from our climb were going to be late, and we did not wait for them. We had 11 people in our group. The first 45 min is for safety briefing, changing into the suit, securing your locker items, getting your equipment set up, and also practicing the ladder segment of the climb. If you're concerned that it will be physically challenging, don't worry. There were people of all ages, sizes, and levels of physical fitness on our climb; nobody had any issues. They have a system of multiple breaks while waiting for groups ahead of you and for photos, and there are water stations on the bridge. The stairs are very short in height and wide apart, so it is not anything like climbing a stair master, but more like a 2% incline on a treadmill. Don't fret if you're afraid of heights. As someone with a mild fear, I felt very secure and didn't feel uneasy at all. The weather during our 2:25 pm climb was perfect; the sun was up, and there was a light breeze. The view from the top was unbeatable. Our guide, Intan, was fantastic. She remembered every climber's names, cracked plenty of fun jokes, and just made sure we were all having a great time. We really enjoyed listening to the history of the bridge and the city as we climbed. The whole experience from beginning to end was 3 hrs. Cross this off your bucket list!

Me and my friend completed the bridge walk and it was scary, fun and exciting. I was shocked my friend who is scared of heights did the climb. This a popular and expensive touristy attraction in Sydney. The tour lasts about three hours but I definitely felt like it could've been shorter. The staff are amazing and are very detailed with what to expect and offer pre- training before your climb. Thankfully we went on a day where the weather was good because our instructor stated they still do climbs in most weather conditions except thunder and lightening. The scariest parts of the climb are the steep steps that only one person can use at a time. I loved that they do have staff at some of those stairs areas for support and/ or security. The views are beautiful and worth the mini cardi workout lol. Our instructor was entertaining and talked about the ongoing renovations occurring on the bridge. I love that they have a variety of options to choose which type of climb you're interested in with different prices. We did the full climb and our instructor took several pictures of us and a small video. You're not allowed to take your own cameras on the walk. At the end they offer you a picture package which wasn't too expensive and you get to pick from a selection of pictures you might be interested in purchasing. Definitely an attraction to check out.

When in Australia, do the Sydney Harbor Bridge Climb! There is no better way to see the Sydney skyline than from the iconic Sydney Harbor Bridge. My husband and I honeymooned in Australia, and decided to do the nighttime Bridge Climb to see the nighttime Sydney skyline and firework show. Admittedly I am petrified of heights, so doing a nighttime Bridge Climb was something that took a lot of convincing. But I am so glad that I did! The Bridge Climb was easy to register for online, but it does fill up fast so make sure you sign up for it in advance. Prices were not cheap, as it came out to approximately $500 (USD) for 2 people. But I do think it's worth the price for the experience and views. What impressed me was how safety-oriented the training was, and how organized the Bridge Climb was! It is definitely a well-run adventure organization. They give you headphones, a walkie talkie, rain gear, protective gear, and harness you to the Bridge's safety cables. As you walk along the steel and ladders of the Bridge in groups of 10-15., Your tour guide will make frequent stops throughout the climb to check in on the group to make sure everyone is OK. The staff does an amazing job taking individual and group photos for keepsakes. There are also photo machines where you can email yourself or post online the photos taken. At night it is chilly and windy, so make sure you dress in warm layers accordingly. The entire Bridge Climb took about 2 hours from start to finish and was average in level of physical strenuousness. The best part of the Bridge Climb were the astonishing views of the Sydney skyline from the Harbor Bridge!! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you Australia, and Sydney Harbor Bridge Climb for making my husband and my honeymoon a thrilling and adventurous one we will never forget. Highly recommend you do the Bridge Climb when you are in Sydney! It's worth the high price and will give you valuable memories for a lifetime. read more

We went on this climb yesterday. Our tour guide, Jake, was excellent. We had a great group and we had a great time. This was despite rainy weather through a lot of the climb. This didn't impact the enjoyment. We learned a lot about the bridge, the history of the city itself, and I had amazing views throughout the trip. We got a lot of great photos through many sections of the climb. We would highly recommend going on this for anyone coming to the city. read more
The Sydney Harbor Bridge Climb is a must...a true 5-star experience and one of the top highlights of our visit to Australia! We participated as a family of five (2 adults and 3 kids ages 13, 12 and 9). Our start time was 10am and we all utterly loved the entire experience! It is a bit expensive, but well worth it and an incredible way to view the city, get some extensive history and architecture lessons, and enjoy the incredible skyline. The staff is professional, friendly, full of knowledge and it all is so well planned...incredibly efficient operation! They handled everything very efficiently and professionally from the safety briefing, climb suit changing, and detailed instructions for the climb. The views are truly spectacular and the walk is not particularly strenuous and many opportunities for sensational photos! At the end you can purchase photos on a USB drive for $20 for one photo or $60 for all of them (up to 10). Several awesome photo stops and great views. The whole thing took about 3 hours and it was well worth the time and money! An experience of a lifetime...great five star fun! read more
What an experience! To be honest, I wasn't very excited when my husband suggested this on our vacation, I thought it sounded lame for the price tag. But once we got to Sydney and saw the bridge, I got a little curious. The day of the bridge climb, we were there very early, we selected the sunrise time. Everyone walked us through safety, rules, and practice climbs. Our guide was knowledgable, kind, and hilarious. Once out on the bridge there are 2 short streep climbs, the rest is a low grade slope as you ascend to the top. The views were spectacular, the history we learned was fascinating, and the time we spent up there will never be forgotten. I highly recommend it, if.you are afraid you may not be able to physically do it because of your ability to climb, I would say that if you can climb a few rungs of an A frame ladder at home, you can do this! My husband broke his foot 5 weeks brier and was able to do it. We took lots of breaks , not to rest but to take in the views. read more

Definitely a must do in Sydney! We did the express package which was a little shorter timewise but gave ample time on bridge. It is great for information on building of bridge, history of Sydney (through headset given by guides) with spectacular views of harbor and Opera House. It is not cheap but they have a system in place that is well thought out, safe, truly unique and well worth the money. read more

Although this is super expensive, we decided to try the bridge sampler while in Sydney. The process was efficient, our guide was fantastic and the view was breathtaking. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is the crazy price. We wanted to buy the full bridge climb experience but we couldn't stomach $1032 AUD for a family of four. I even thought the $580 AUD (10% trip advisor coupon applied) was crazy high. You also cannot take cameras on the climb due to safety concerns, but they will take your photo and sell it to you for another $25 AUD. The do give you a group photo with the booking but who wants a photo with mainly people you don't know. If the price were lower I'd give the experience 5 stars. read more

Do it BUT only if you do TWILIGHT climb - this way you will see the city during day light, sunset, and evening light. Well worth paying $80 more. Climb is very safe and informative. Would not recommend on rainy, windy days and during daylight for full experience TWILIGHT!!! Otherwise not worth the money you would be better off getting helicopter ride during day. read more
I am afraid of heights but this one of 2 activities my friend really wanted to do in Australia so the rest of decided we should give it a try. Frankly, I was worried about it the whole time and it was one of the last things we did on our 3 week trip. The place itself is a little hard to find on foot as it's kind of out of the way and not where I imagined it would be based on the location of the bridge. The preparation was very good, including practicing on some fake ladders so we could get a feel for the equipment. There were several people who dropped out before we set out, including one girl who essentially had an anxiety attack. I gritted my teeth and just went. Surprisingly, it wasn't that scary at all. The path and stairs you walk on are so wide that you can't really see off to the sides and mostly what you see is water so you can't really feel how high it is. The only parts that were a little harder were the ladders (short) and also the part where you could see down to the cars but if you don't stare straight down, it's fine. The views were amazing and our guide got some great photos for us. This place underwent a change in management company recently and apparently the upgraded the securing belt, which I felt to be very sturdy. The guide we had (I feel badly I forgot his name) was absolutely wonderful. He's somewhat of a legend there because he's been there so long. He told us a lot of little stories and tidbits about the bridge throughout the walk, mainly to keep us distracted from being scared. I loved that he took his time and allowed us a lot of time to enjoy the view and also he put great care into taking our photos. As we were up there we saw the groups ahead of us, and even more so, the groups behind us and how quickly they were going. We could tell the groups behind us were a little annoyed at how long we took but our guide didn't care (because he's awesome) so I feel like our experience was likely better than the other groups due to our guide. I am dropping off a star for this place due to the price. It's extremely expensive, especially considering what they're providing. My friend told me that price has tripled over the years since she went. read more
An Aussie friend (who's opinion I trust) summarized BridgeClimb Sydney as follows: -- It's far too expensive -- It's very "touristy" -- But...It is a one-of-a-kind experience worth doing once So I took his advice and made a reservation for a morning slot on my first full day in Sydney. Because - who knows if I'll ever be back? The name pretty much says it all, though a better one might be "BridgeHike Sydney" In short, starting at the base of the bridge, I walked with a group (led by a guide) to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge using built in catwalks, walkways and ladders. Safety was paramount, so we were harnessed in the entire time using an ingenious rail system. One of BridgeClimb's key requirements was to make sure car traffic on the bridge was unaffected, so there were no cellphones or cameras allowed (or anything else we could drop on the roadway). Sunglasses had to be on tethers. And they supplied each of us with a temporary jumpsuit, harness, hat, and even a jacket if needed (all of which were clipped in securely). The entire system was very well designed. As for the tour itself, there were multiple types available: BridgeClimb (3-4 hours), BridgeClimb sampler (1.5 hours), and Bridgeclimb Express (2 hours). All were AUD 270 for a daytime slot (more for sunrise and twilight; even higher during the holidays). I chose the BridgeClimb Express since it was specifically for those in decent shape who wanted to climb to the top more quickly (and didn't want to spend 4 hours on the bridge). We also got to skip a bunch of extremely basic-looking training. In short, I had a fantastic tour. I was able to see the bridge structure from multiple angles; learn about its construction and history; and take in glorious views of the entire harbour. Stunning; and so cool. When a light rain started to fall, few of us cared. (I did hit my head a few times on low passages, but such is the curse of the tall) Despite the great experience, the price really was extraordinarily high for a pre-arranged route; staffed by one employee. Considering BridgeClimb has no competition, has been operating for 17 years, and gets hundreds of paying customers every day, I can only surmise that they have figured out how high a price they CAN charge and still keep their reservation slots nearly full. (All the equipment must have been paid for 10 times over by now). And the high price doesn't cover everything. For instance, if you want photos of your experience (taken by the climb leader), you will need to pay extra for that. Remember that part about not being able to bring your own phone? (What a convenient situation for them) The last question is: Would I recommend BridgeClimb to others visiting Sydney? Yes, but only if money is not an issue. If money is tight, there are some excellent alternatives - such as strolling on the bridge's pedestrian walkway or visiting the excellent Harbour Bridge Pylon Lookout (http://www.yelp.com/biz/sydney-harbour-bridge-pylon-lookout-the-rocks?hrid=QziW9XlLFAQUexUu42c0mg&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct)). As for me, If I ever come back this way, I'll follow my Aussie friend's advice and skip it. Once was enough. Tips and tricks: -- Reservations recommended -- No bathroom availability for the entire tour; make sure to visit the loo one last time before putting on your jumpsuit. -- For a faster tour, take the BridgeClimb express. It's not really that difficult. -- Lockers are available to store your phones, jackets, purses, etc. -- A rudimentary changing area is also available (i.e. curtains) -- Wear light, comfortable clothing. (again, you'll be putting a jumpsuit over them) read more
I have climb this thing 3 times! No, I don't have some weird bridge fetish. No, I don't inspect bridges in my spare time. It is just that when you're touring Sydney, someone in your group always wants to climb the bridge. And since you really can't let friends and family climb on their own, that is why I am now the proud owner of a Gold Climbing Certificate (given to those who have climb 3 or more times). Now, I have climbed the bridge in the morning, afternoon, and twilight, and without reservation, I have to say that the twilight climb gives you the biggest bang for your Aussie Dollar. You will start during the end of the day and finis just as it is getting dark so it is kind of like two climbs in one. Some other things you may want to take into consideration before you climb include it will take 3hrs, you will be breathalyzed, and you will have to wear a blue and gray jump suit that looks like you might have escaped from the local penitentiary. Basically, the bridge climb is great if it is on your bucket list but I'm not so sure that it is worth it after that; however, the last time I climbed was with my 72 year old mother who is a retired. Line-woman for the phone co, so she is pretty much fearless. Oh, yeah I forgot to mention that i afraid of heights, so for me, the Bridge Climb can be scary. Of course, you're safe as they tether you in with steel cables, so there is no way you could possibly fall off the bridge. However, that never seems to change the fact that at certain points in the climb I'm always on the verge of hyperventilating. This time my mother was cat-like as always in her accent, scaling ladders and ramps as if she were just walking down to 7-11. Two attendants, surprised by her agility, remarked, "Wow, never seen anyone her age take the ladder like that..Hardcore, Mate." Yeah, well I'm sure that they weren't so impressed with my white-knuckling of the ladder as I crept up to Heaven. At the top. it was a spectacular view as always, and the upper ramp did make for some spectacular pictures with my mom. (you cannot take your camera on this climb. you will have to purchase additional photos from the company). We made our way across the top of the bridge to make our way down the other side, and our guide had our group stop on a very thin walkway for individual pics. This gave me the chance to stare straight down at the highway below and really freak out. I began to hyperventilate behind my mother, causing her to turn around, "Are you afraid of heights?" What? I'm your son, I thought, how could you not know this. I have been acrophobic since you drug me to the Top of the World Trade center when I was six. However, I drove these thoughts down as I really didn't want to ruin the moment for her. "No, I'm just trying to catch my breath." "Great we'll grab lunch after this," she chirped. "Isn't the view wonderful?" Lunch, ugh not really in the mood after this I thought, but taking the breathtaking view and the look on my mom's face, I simply smiled, "Yes, It's wonderful, Mom. It's Wonderful" read more

Ok, it's high up. Really high up. R-E-A-L-L-Y high up. And scary. Do it anyhow. These guys are professional from the get-go. When you show up, they ask lots of questions about any potential medical issues, whether you've eaten and had water lately, even if you've been on an international flight in the past 24 hours...anything to ensure they have a good heads-up for potential problems during the climb. Preparation is about an hour, very thorough, and entertaining enough to never get boring. Things start with a quick briefing, during which everyone has to take a breathalyzer test for alcohol exceeding a low .05 (yes, I passed on my first try). You are then issued a jumpsuit, hat, given a changing room, and you emerge with the group looking somewhat homogenous (and strangely, feeling somewhat like "Top Gun"). What follows is an hour of clipping things onto the suit - rain gear, your hat, sunglasses, a handkerchief, a walkie-talkie radio, headphones, even a safety belt with a harness that attaches to a cable running the length of the bridge. You then get to practice climbing up and down some ladders and a catwalk to simulate what is about to happen. But nothing can prepare you for what is about to happen. You emerge onto very narrow catwalks made of steel mesh that is see-through. So you can see the ground below you. Very far below you. Dizziness sets in, your heart thumps, you're pretty sure you can't take another step...and then you get to the ladders. You climb...and climb...and climb...shimmy right, shimmy left, more ladders...and nothing between you and the ground so...far...below... But, you haven't even started on the arch. There are two, an inner arch and the outer arch. I climbed the latter, all the way over the top of the bridge. It's so terrifying there are no words, but at a certain point, the inevitability of imminent death seems to override the senses...and there you are, on top of the world, with wonderful Sydney stretching out in all directions. Beautiful, brilliant. Our climb happened on a hot winter day, with temperatures exceeding 80 F. Unfortunately, winds exceeded 100 km/hr. Exhilarating and hard to hold on! The staff is very professional, friendly and firm at the same time. Safety is paramount, and while it feels like you are in danger at all times, you know that nothing will go wrong. The climb guide is pretty funny, to boot, so this is a scary, fun, and entertaining experience. Do it. And drink heavily afterward :-) read more

I have a fear of heights. I get dizzy changing a light bulb on a ladder, so I was reluctant to try this out. HOWEVER, since work was paying and I could bring a friend, I thought, "Why the heck not?". How often does one get to actually climb a Sydney landmark? I thought it would be nice to watch the sunset from the top of the bridge. Before we even get to take one step, we are outfitted in grey uniforms (so as to not distract the drivers below). We also wore headlamps and for those of us who consistently use tissues (*ahem*) I was given a cloth handkerchief attached to a wristband. This way nothing could fall out of my pocket. We were in groups of 14 and were tethered to a cable the entire time. I liked having the camaraderie - we had a fun bunch! You also get your photo taken at the top. You start out on one side of the bridge at The Rocks, cross over at the top and then come back down to the same side of the harbour. The view is amazing, the feeling of the wind blowing on your face is amazing and I felt like I had accomplished more than just climbing a bridge - I conquered one of my fears. read more
This experience is WELL worth the time and money. My son is afraid of heights and he did just fine, so do not let your fears hold you back. They put you in lots of gear and make sure all safety precautions are taken. Our guide Kyle was friendly, helpful and had "mad skills". I don't regret a single second of this tour and neither does my wallet. You only live once and you will never have a better view! I highly recommend this to anyone. read more
How often do you get to climb a bridge? Like, never. But it's expensive! So is all of Australia. Is it worth it? Umm...do sharks eat fish? But I'm scared of heights! Don't worry, you're strapped in tight. On the real, this bridge climb is worth every penny, especially if you do the twilight climb. It's a bit pricier, but you get to see the sunset and you get to see the city light up at night. Our guide was very well informed spouting out the history of the bridge, how many bolts and screws and the like and man hours it took the build. You run through a brief safety and training session in the beginning after filling out some forms, and then you're off! There are a couple stops along the way to wait for other groups to take photos and the like, but the 3 hours are a great way to see Sydney, and a great way to learn some history high above everyone else. You gotta do it while you're here. read more
As a fellow Traveler and want to do bucket list things - THIS IS ONE OF THEM. Expensive is in the eye of the beholder. If you find yourself thinking $300+ is not worth climbing a bridge to knock if off your bucket list, It's truly not a bucket list item for you. This experience is worth every penny. The service here is top notch. TRAINING & SAFETY - They make sure everyone is ready for the climb. You can tell the money you spend is used on your safety and enjoyment on your climb. The first hour that you're there is on training and practicing on their HUGE Demo Ladders and harnesses. I am very impressed on the precautions made to keep us safe from all ages. I cannot stress enough that they have built in DEMO ladders to practice going up and down the bridge before you get on the Climb. It's pretty awesome. SADLY there are no pictures that I know of because you can't take your phones here. SERVICE - Our Tour Guide was awesome and really funny. Again, safety is top notch asking us how were doing. EXPERIENCE - The only scary or nervous part is honestly the catwalk under the bridge. The mesh floor is bouncy and just feels scary at first. The bridge itself is not scary at all. You're attached to the bridge itself with harnesses and strapped on to the suit you're on. You are wearing the onesie suit, hat and headphones so you can hear the tour guide tell you about history and all about the bridge while you're walking up. I don't need great physical ability to walk this bridge. You can take it slow. Overall - There's no risk and all fun at this place! You won't regret the experience! read more

I loved the bridge climb! I did the morning climb and had to get up at 3:30 am to start my climb. My guide was great and knowledgeable. I had a pretty big group - there were around 12 people. But the guide was very attentive to everyone and we successfully made it to the top of the bridge. I would definitely do this again! read more
This is a 'must do' whether you are a tourist or a local. Known to Sydneysiders as 'The Coathanger', the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge is the world's largest (but not longest) steel arch bridge. Connecting the northern and southern shores of Sydney's sparkling harbour, the Bridge is an instantly recognisable symbol of Australia around the world. I've been twice now - once in the rain and then another time in finer weather. Both times it was exhilarating. The average cost is $258 for an adult and varies depending on the time of day. A cheaper option is the Bridgeclimb Sampler for only $148.00 There are four different types of climbs depending on the time of day. Dawn, Day, Twilight, Night, Bridgeclimb Mandarin (for our Chinese speakers) and Bridgeclimb Express if you want a speedy tour of 2 Hours 25 minutes. The climb leaders are very knowledgeable and will entertain you with stories about the history of the Bridge. The highlight is a set of photos taken at the summit of the bridge and then presented to you with your personalised Climber Certificate. If you are scared of heights - this attraction could give you fear. I must admit it was no problem to climb the main arch as you are very securely fastened to a hand rail and you are a few metres back from the edge anyway. I say do it - climb the 1,002 steps on the arch until you reach the summit of the bridge (134m above sea level) then admire the view of the Opera House, Sydney City and the surrounding districts. read more

I thought this was going to be a dumb touristy thing to do but boy was I wrong. I absolutely loved this experience! I'm an American living in Sydney and I am so glad I came to do the bridge climb!! The weather was perfect! The staff was friendly. The layout and logistics were easy. The facility was impeccable and it was safe except maybe the ladder parts. They provide you with everything you need from the jumpsuit to the sunglasses holder, to a handkerchief to a rain jacket to a headset to a harness, to a hat that you keep as a souvenir. They should let you take GoPros on the walk with you but they don't which is pretty lame. They want you to buy pictures from them Wear tennis shoes. Come sober as they do breathalyzer test you. Wear comfortable clothing. Wish they played music in your earphones. Their guides should know more fun facts but they have limited knowledge as they're not Aussie which is also strange. You cannot best these views, so worth it!!!!! read more
I had the privilege of making the BridgeClimb some years back. Not only was it unforgettable, but it will remain in my top 10 list of memorable activities I've ever taken part in. The tour takes a while, so you have to set aside a good amount of time, and the weather has to be decent. You're given instructions, you don a uniform, you're given a headset, and you're strapped to the bridge. Get ready for a lot of up and down staircases and ladders in a small group of people. Once you get to the top, you're treated to awesome views of Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Opera House. Yes, you actually climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I've been to Sydney twice, and this, by far, was one of the most distinctive experiences I had while I was there. Yes, it's touristy. Yes, it's worth doing... for the views alone. At the end of the climb you'll be given photos from your experience. You can bring cameras on your climb, but there are some strict rules about when and where you can use them. read more
I love climbing things, but usually I only climb mountains and nature stuff like that, so being able to climb a real bridge was very exciting. From the start, the experience was extremely professional and well thought out. From getting your jumpsuit to getting your belt/harness to getting all the add-ons like a beanie, windbreaker, radio, and flashlight, it was all so smooth, even for the large groups that the tours are done in. Again, everything is well thought out and fastened to your suit, they even have mechanisms to clip your glasses on so they can't fall off! Then, they give you a quick tutorial on how to climb the ladders, which are the trickiest part. Through this run through, you get to practice climbing and walking while being attached to the structure, and, most importantly, how to free yourself when your sliding wheel mechanism inevitably gets stuck. After an hour or so of equipment setup and practice, you're finally ready to make the climb. Throughout the whole climb, your guide is constantly giving fun facts and history about Sydney (and if you happen to get a guide like Edward, some great puns!!), so you don't have to listen to your thoughts about falling swirling around. The entire time, you're latched on to the bridge, so there's really no way to fall anyway. The walk starts pretty narrow, then gets pretty dark and low ceilings under the bridge. Once you climb up all the ladders and get onto the top of the bridge, the walkway is nice and wide, and the views are gorgeous. It does get quite windy, however, but that's a small price to pay. The whole walk in total takes maybe 90 minutes? I really don't know. You can't bring anything up, but they do take pictures for you (for purchase of course). This is my only gripe: there is quite a bit of downtime as the guide takes pictures for all the other people in your group. There are three picture stops and waiting for everyone takes some time. The view is still great to look at, but especially if it is raining or cold, it can be a little uncomfortable waiting like that. Other than that, everything is amazing! Price is high, but hey, you're climbing a bridge and getting probably the best view/tour in Sydney. The guides are all so friendly and knowledgeable, and they were really trying hard to comfort my cousin who is afraid of heights. Join all of the celebrities you see pictures of in the lobby (and me) and give this a try when in Sydney!! read more

I'm not exactly a fan of heights (or 4am wake-up calls) but when your potential mother in law gives you a gift certificate for a Harbour Bridge dawn climb, you don't say no. Some cities around the world are starting to make it possible for tourists to do bridge climbs, but our beloved steel 'Coat Hanger' was the pioneer of this unforgettable experience. I found the actual climb to the top a little scary, with a wire connecting me to the bridge as my only lifeline, but the guide was very reassuring and made me feel safe, distracting me with her interesting knowledge of Sydney. The moment I reached the summit is one I will never forget-here I was, at the top of this icon, enjoying spectacular views of the Sydney skyline as the sun was coming up, while the city was still sleeping. I was wide awake now. I couldn't take my eyes off. The experience takes over three hours but the time flies. Tours run throughout the day, from dawn. I've been told the night climbs are a thrill so that's something I will definitely have to check out. read more
If you have 4 hours and the money to spend for this experience, it is totally worth it! The staff does an excellent job of taking you through the steps to get ready - - Sign liability forms - Use Changing rooms to take off clothes and put on nylon jump suits NOTE: You will NOT be able to bring ANYTHING with you! - Nothing!! This is for safety in case you should drop anything on the people/traffic below you, and also so you pay attention to what you are doing. They will have you do through a metal detector. Glasses/watches are fine. - Put on climbing harnesses and other items - Train on how to "hook on" and move through cabling transfers - Train on climbing ladders Up and Down - Train on the mesh walkways Etc... They are very safety conscicous and you will be well trained to climb. Honestly the hardest part is climbing the ladders and that isn't that hard - once you are actually to the bridge and start to climb it is like walking up slanted stairs or a hill. The leader takes pictures (individual and group) pictures for everyone and of course you can buy these at the end. There is also a nice gift shop with other Sydney items available too. Again, if you have the time, money and desire - Go For It! :-) read more

Ok, how often do you get a chance to climb on top of a bridge - not on a bridge - ON TOP! Now how often do you get to climb a national icon? I'm going to assume seldom.... so here's the deal - here is a chance for you to strap yourself (literally) and challenge yourself with the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb.... Now here's something you may find useful - I'm scared of heights - so to my fellow vertically challenged friends - this shout-outs to you... at first when you start the climb you will be scared... (in some cases petrified) - but I was actually suprised by how safe I felt and I actually got over my fear pretty quickly.... AND BONUS for you scaredy cats - because I told the guide I had a fear of heights - he put me at the front - which meant I had uninterrupted views the whole way. It's really safe and its really fun.... I think the whole tour was around 3 hours long.... Now it is expensive - but i guarantee you will never forget your experience...I remember the dusk trips being more expensive... and even though they are - I do recommend you do it.... the reason is Sydney looks magnificent as it transitions from daylight to nighttime.... it's quite spectacular and worth the additional investment.... Prices start from about $200 dollars per person.... but if you're smart you may even find a coupon or deal online.... It's a once in a lifetime experience i would highly recommend - even for those (like me) who prefer to be on the ground... read more

To me, the BridgeClimb is not about the view of Sydney Harbour and as far as the eye can see. It is about the experience of climbing a steel structure over water. I am glad I did it last November, despite the staggering price. I first saw people climbed the bridge in 1999 and thought of doing it. The cost (A$100+) was a deterrent then (still is) and I gave it a miss. I regretted since when I saw how the price kept going up. So I decided to bite the bullet and just go for it. Who knows if it will continue to go up in future. The whole journey was very safe as you would be hooked up to the bridge at all time and there was a mini training to let you get used to it. I booked the last slot before the twilight and so managed to see a bit of sunset towards the end. Allow yourself time to do it as it took around 4 hours or so, including the waiting and the "training" and changing of clothes etc. I had to wear their shoes as my Keens were not fully covered at the back and they deemed it as unsafe. So not to worry if you did not bring proper shoes for this. It was really windy when I got up there and my cap blew right off my head. Luckily it was attached to the jumpsuit (everything need to be attached and strictly no loose particles on the person) and so it did not drop into the harbour. The only "scary" bit was when the bridge vibrated when we were making our way back due to the passing train at that hour. But you could just stayed still for a while till it stopped and you got your bearing/footing again. If you have the spare cash or this is on your bucket list of things to do, this will be one experience you do not want to miss. Frankly there are other alternatives if you just want to have a good view of the city and harbour without climbing the bridge. Deduct one star for the exorbitant price - A$218-A$368 for day, night, twilight or dawn climbs. read more
Pricey but worth doing on a nice day. Very safe as the walkway is nearly a meter across and you are always tethered to a safety rail. A great experience and you get a group picture. If you want any other pictures you have to buy them as no cameras are allowed on the climb. Part of the package is a ticket (worth around $10) to climb the bridge pylon where you can take pictures with you own camera. If you are on a budget I highly recommend just the pylon ascent. read more

Oh my god. If you're ever in Sydney drop everything and book the bridge climb. Although a little on the expensive side, it is absolutely worth it for the views and the inevitable overwhelming feeling that you are climbing an incredible piece of history and you likely won't ever do anything like it again. The whole thing is run so smoothly, extremely well organised and explained. All of the guides are extremely friendly and welcoming, although I have to say I think we hit the jackpot with our guide Intan, she honestly just made the whole experience for us. So knowledgeable, charming, funny and just insanely cool, we absolutely adored her. In conclusion. GO!! read more

Practically every postcard of Sydney features the Harbour Bridge. And for good reason: its colossal steel arched frame stands proud from the skyline, linking the two halves of Sydney. It's the first thing that most people think of when they think of Sydney, and it's definitely one of the most famous bridges in the world. It's the kind of thing that would be pretty cool to climb - and it is. The Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb company offers a fantastic experience, allowing you to walk right to the apex of the bridge for a dramatic panoramic view across Sydney. There is a choice of climb - the express climb, the discovery climb and the bridge climb - which operate at dawn, day, twilight and night. The staff are incredibly friendly and reassuring, and every effort is made to ensure that all climbers are relaxed and comfortable. After a practice climb to make sure everyone is comfortable with the stairs, your group (usually about 16 people) is suited and booted. They've thought of everything you might need - caps, gloves, fleeces, waterproofs and overalls. Once everyone is set, you begin the climb. Each person has headphones which are linked to the leader's microphone, so it is very easy to hear his instructions and what he has to say about the bridge. It's interesting to hear about the bridge's construction, and the guides also take the opportunity to point out many of Sydney's other landmarks. There are plenty of photos taken along the way so that every individual has some mementos of the climb. It's a brilliant experience, and one which is evidently popular by the trains of people that can be seen walking along the bridge at all times of the day. If you're in need of a gift idea, the bridge climb makes a fantastic experience and wonderful present to give too. It's definitely something to book in advance during the summer months, but there are usually spaces available in the winter. It's not cheap, but is a wonderfully unique experience and one of the best ways to see Sydney. I would recommend doing the climb with a friend, as it's most fun when shared with people, and also means you can get some pretty awesome photos. read more

If my rating were solely based on the staff, I would give this place 5 stars. The employees are phenomenal. That being said, the experience itself was just okay. The entire process was pretty efficient. You purchase your tickets, sign waivers, put on gear, and participate in a trial climb. I went with a large group and we were broken up into 3 parties. We were meant to go 10 minutes apart, but there seemed to be a delay and my group ended up waiting around for 45 + minutes. We signed up for the full climb experience, so overall we spent about 4.5 hours at BridgeClimb. The views are incredible and the guides do a wonderful job of engaging the crowd. No one in our group was particularly nervous and most of us live pretty active lifestyles so the climb itself wasn't too bad. The downside was that we spent a ton of time waiting. The group ahead of us had kids with them and our guide spent a lot of time stalling. After completing the first half of the climb, most of us were ready to wrap up. I definitely think that we should've opted for the shorter trip. Overall, the experience was pretty cool, but nothing to rave about - certainly not at that price point. You get a photo and certificate at the end (they forgot to print mine, but it was fine since I probably would've lost it while I was out that evening anyway). As an American, I kept thinking about how the cost of one climb would be enough to get me a full day at Disneyland. I'm just not sure it's worth the price. read more

Ready to go to the bridge climb with my family since this is my first time in Sydney. We have 5:45pm team starting around 05:50. There is a lot of paper to sign and a lot of explaining and a lot of stuff to you carry to top of the bridge. I can't bring anything (no cell no camera no gopro nothing!!) but I understand the situation because what if someone drop something to down there?? You will be on the news.. anyway I was so excited to climb the bridge with my family one lady brought us to go up she was very very sweet and kind nice smiling and explaining easy way( I'm not from Australia) very nice!! But the problem is the picture.. the picture is horrible.. like horrible horrible!!! I don't think she has skills to take pictures.. like me I'm not living here so it probably my last time climbing this bridge with my family when we received the picture really so disappointed!!!!!! It's her or the camera?? I feel like i did the bridge climb for NOTHING!!! I have nothing to left( not even one picture) but the lady who took us up gave us a lot of good memories just in my heart.. oh and good part of her took her time to show all the good thing for us ! Thanks read more
For my 200th review, I wanted to choose something big and significant, and this is definitely it. A lot of people have already hit the bit points--it's expensive, it takes 3-4 hours, and there is a lot of waiting around to fill out forms and suit up. I'm just going to focus on the main things that would make or break the experience for myself. Like many have already noted, this is not a very physically demanding activity. I think if you just went up and down the bridge without stopping for photos or tours, it would take about 35-45 minutes max. I was kind of hoping for something a little more challenging, but this tour is all about the experience and views. I did the sunset tour, which provided amazing daylight views of the city, a beautiful sunset, and fantastic views of the city all lit up on our way down. I highly recommend it! There are a LOT of tours going on at the same time across the bridge, so you have to stop frequently to wait for them to take photos and move on. Luckily, our tour guide was fantastic and kept us entertained the whole time. He obviously had to know all about the bridge and other random Sydney facts to give the tour and answer questions. But he was also extremely personable and friendly, no awkward moments at all--well, except the ones that were caused to my own awkwardness. He was loving the sunset so much that he took a bunch of unscheduled pictures and gave them away for free! Score! Overall I was really happy with the experience, but I can understand how some people might not get the same cost/enjoyment ratio as me. Definitely not for everyone, so do some reading and adjust your expectations accordingly! read more

I debated taking one star off because (to me) it's really pricy, but the experience was wonderful, and I had no regrets of doing this. My husband and I did the twilight (full) climb (which I was happy with because you get to see the city in the day and night), which is a 3-hour tour. The prep takes about an hour - signing the waiver, getting changed, putting on equipment, and practicing. Can't bring anything with you for safety reasons, but anything you need (beanie, hat, gloves, fleece sweater) they provide, and will be attached via clips to your outfit. (Sun)glasses are also attached. Being on the bridge was amazing. Our guide was informative and funny. The views were spectacular and (obviously) one-of-a-kind. There are several spots where we stopped and took pictures (group and individual parties). If you have any safety concerns, you are always attached to the bridge. There are several straight up and down ladders, otherwise, it's a pretty easy walk. A couple spots in the climb have a grated floor, so you can see straight down into the water/traffic. The climb comes with a group picture and baseball cap. read more

If you're a dare-devil, adrenaline-seeking junkie, than this probably isn't the way to go. Although climbing the 134 metre (height-wise) bridge may seem and look quite terrifying I can assure you, it's not. But if you're just the average tourist visiting Sydney, or even a Sydney local that knows almost nothing about the hidden treasures of the city (like myself), then the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb may just be for you. For just $188 for an adult or $128 for a child (ha) and a lungful of air, you can up those 1,437 steps and you can view Sydney Harbour at its best. Great views, definitely. In my honest opinion however, it was a little underwhelming. I guess these days it's just because can get much cheaper thrills elsewhere (much cheaper). As for all those mothers out there shaking their heads at even the slightest thought of their kids 'climbing' the bridge, calm thy nerves. The highest safety standards and procedures are taken to ensure nothing even slightly disastrous will take place, and the word 'climb' really is misleading, a euphemism for 'really, really long and tiring walk'. Although cameras and any recording devices are strictly not allowed you can take home a memorabilia group photo (dorky blue jumpsuits and all). But in all seriousness, the view at the top of the bridge really is quite amazing and if you're willing to spill the dough, why not? read more

Calling all adventurous tourists, locals, interstate couch surfers, and your uncles, brothers, sisters, mums, dads, gramps, and grans. If you can open a letter with a letter opener, you're adventurous enough. If you can clean your car on water shortage day, you're adventurous enough. If you can text on your phone without looking, you're adventurous enough. You get the point. The Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb is a monumental feat of engineering, and a historic part of Sydney. If you call Sydney home, then this is a pre-requisite to travelling, as you'll need to answer many questions like 'Have you climbed the Harbour Bridge?' In which you have to click on the website above to start your journey to 'Yes, I have, and it was unforgettable.' If you're coming from abroad, first off Welcome! you shouldn't leave Sydney without trying this climb, it is the only touristy thing where you feel part of a city, not just an observer. It's truly an exceptional, nearly life changing experience, which you'll remember as the highlight of your trip. Try and go for twilight to see the hustle at it's peak, or early morning for the sunset to see Sydney awake to a hopefully glorious day. read more

Just do it. Save up the money and do whatever it takes to do the two and a half hour discovery climb. Your climbing up the bridge while being given a history lesson on the Sydney Harbour Bridge simultaneously. It is great to either go with a group of friends or do it alone. Sunday afternoon is the best time to go, and it is awesome to still be doing the Bridgeclimb as day starts to turn into night. It seems like your wearing a lot of equipment; however it's all okay. You do not boil in those jumpsuits. And don't panic about the breath test either. Just take it easy the night before; usually a glass of wine won't hurt you so you can relish the experience. Any more than a glass of wine the night before your exciting climb; sorry my friend however you are starting to get way too close to comfort here. Again as Nike says "just do it" regardless as to whether or not you are scared of heights; you are eased into it; and the harness is extremely safe. It is great to receive a group photo complimentary as part of the experience price (this is why it is more fun and recommended to do this with your friends) and it is always fun to look through all of your individual shots at the end prior to purchasing as well. read more

My Sydney Harbour Bridge climb was very cool, even if it was cold and raining that day. You gather with a timed group, put on special coveralls, get tied together, and have some practice climbing. Then you're led out onto the massive superstructure of the bridge, passing first over the busy traffic than up onto the great arches themselves. It's all done with a lot of safety, and the climb is relatively easy with steps and rails almost everywhere. Still, once you're up at the top with the wind whipping around you, 134m above the water and ships below, it's breathtaking. My only complaint was that you're not allowed to take your own camera up to take any pictures (they even metal-detect you before you go up). I can see why they do this: for security, for the safety risks it would pose with people handling their own equipment. But it's still a bit disappointing that you're not able to record the experience (of course, they take photos of you on the bridge, and will happily sell you those). I went with someone who used the experience to help conquer her fear of heights. The entire experience, from check-in to prep to climbing and returning, takes about 3.5 hours. Lots of other helpful info on the web site. read more
Highly Recommend! Man I thought this would definitely be one of my 5 star reviews, but here I am with a 4 star (but really this a 3.5 rounded up). I did the climb years ago when I lived in Sydney and it was one of my favorite things, so when I was in town with my husband for a friend's wedding I knew I had to take him on this climb. The climb - amazing. I can't not recommend this. If you do one thing in Sydney - this is it. I know it's expensive - find a way. Now...with all of that said, how can I not rate this 5 stars you ask? Well, while we were doing our originally scheduled climb we were stalled and then cancelled due to weather. Am I blaming bridgeclimb for the weather? heck no. Am I blaming them for the awful AWFUL customer service we received while trying to reschedule our climb. Yes, yes I am. We come off the bridge (yes they had us go out to the first pylon and then sit inside of it for an hour - AN HOUR - before sending us back) and are cold and wet and very bummed. But on the way in we were told by our guide that their representative was waiting inside to help us reschedule and they would be bending over backwards to help us. So, we were anticipating an easy reschedule process. LOL. We meet the rep and we are told we can either climb at 5am or noon the next day (oh and she only had 3 spots in the noon session and she has already given 2 of them away). We tell her the next day wont work because we already have an itinerary set and ask about the day after - sorry she wont schedule us for the next day and we had to wait in the line downstairs. We get in line and, after an eternity, get to the rep. He tells us he can't schedule us 2 or 3 days out, he can only look at the next day ("how does a 5am climb sound?"). He tells us we would have to call everyday to try to get a spot if we didn't take their very generous offer of a 5am climb over our twilight climb. Doesn't sound like bending over backwards to me, but hey I'm not a gold medal Olympic gymnast so what do i know? After explaining that I do not have an Australian phone and it was not fair of them to force me to spend an excessive amount of money on international phone fees to try calling everyday until we leave to see if they have spots, does he consent to give us a less optimal climb time on a day we are actually free. We were also refunded the difference because we had paid for a prime time climb and were getting a less prime climb. So there is that silver lining. So, is the bridge climb worth it? yes. If their customer service good? NO. F NO. if you are delayed due to weather, be prepared to have a good cry based on how they treat you (because I know I did). read more

Personally think the Harbour Bridge is far more stunning than the Opera house when up close. An amazing feet of engineering. Of course, there's the bridge walk which is good for the daredevils. For those that want to just sample the scenery, the Harbour Bridge museum is really something quite special and gives a unique insight into how it was built. Not forgetting the harbour views! read more

BEWARE. We were excited and hoped to do this activity while on vacation, however, COVID 19 had other plans. I was expecting a refund given the circumstances, but no! They offered a transferable credit for 3 years, however, given the fact we live half way around the world I'm not confident we'll ever be able to visit. In my opinion it's not right to profit off of a world crisis. We spent over $500 USD to reserve the climb we wanted. Not even a partial refund was offered given the circumstances. Not ethical. read more

I think the picture I uploaded says it all: AMAZING! I had a grin from ear to ear throughout the entire experience and would definitely do it again if given the opportunity. It is pricey but the view is priceless, I promise. Most people will be discouraged to do something like this because of the height aspect but I can tell you its not as bad as it seems. I have a huge fear of heights and was still able to complete this climb with very little anxiety. read more
