If you have seen the amount of food (especially choc) I seem to consume every week, you won't be…read moresurprised to hear that I need to have at least one bit of consistent exercise. For me that is fulfilled by a once a week visit to Climb Fit. Honestly I would love to go more, but simply can not find the time. Of the two climbing gyms that I have been to in Sydney (the other is out at St Peters), the guys Climb Fit seem to do a better job of setting consistently challenging and changing climbing routes. They also have the complete range of climbs including those for the absolute beginner (my 2 year old was climbing there a couple of weeks ago) to the elite. Whether you are looking for a slab, an overhang, bouldering, lead climbing or trying out their training wall, they seem to have it all covered. The best part is that if you don't feel like climbing for some reason, or your belay partner does not show up, there is a full gym upstairs. So if you are looking to exercise your body while exercising your mind, this is a place I would suggest checking out. N.B. If you are looking at climbing regularly I strongly suggest getting your own shoes and harness early. The rental harnesses will save you for dropping to the ground, but (and I am looking at the guys out there) "parts" of you may be uncomfortable on the way down.... #justsaying

Growing up in Sydney I have been to many a kids party here (I was still the kid - nothing suss) and…read moreI've even been a hostee of such a party. The best thing is that I continue to go, I love breaking out into a sweat over beating some minute children to the top - the crying only makes me go faster *Jokes. First things first, grab some friends and get inside, entering a converted warehouse type place - it can often be hard to find if you haven't been before. Hire some gear and pay for the number of hours you need - it's about the same price as going to the movies per hour. If you're new to climbing indoors try the kiddies wall - you'll notice how awesomely fast those little nimble creatures can be! Amazing. Don't get put off by the fact that you're on the kids wall, just get to the top and you'll have ample time to laugh at them - point and laugh often works well for the ego. Step 1, take those callused stumped and place them somewhere above your bleeding knees, once you're steady lift that tenderised foot and find a home for it on either the yellow or green blocks. And repeat. See it's not too hard - you pretty much did it in your head just then. Enjoy, and if you get pretty good, see you on the horizontal.

Rockclimbing is a great way to exercise and try something new with friends. This climbing gym is…read morereally well equipped and has recently added a new section with fun routes to try. It is massive and tend to get busier on Mondays and Fridays because of the $10 climbs for uni students. There's a kids wall on the right side of the gym too. So it's not just for adults but also for kids. Sometimes you also see birthday parties held here.

These are a lot crimpier and there are some solid rounds and palm holds. There are a significant amount of 20+ rated climbs for experienced climbers. There is also an ample amount of 9-14 rated climbs for new climbers. We had a new climber with us and she made it from a level 9 to a 13 after 2 hours. Gear hire and entry fee will cost you about $28 plus a $4 initial membership fee. I think it was about $12 entry with our own gear. They have a boulder hub upstairs as well and some gym equipment to strengthen your body in specific areas and/or stretch. They also have party rooms there for kids and this place has a tonne of room. This was my partners original climbing gym prior to coming to Perth so it was great to check it out and enjoy the climbs for myself

Wonderful gym - probably the best in the area. Equipment is the most up to date that I've seen at a…read moregym with TV monitors on each individual treadmill etc. Loads of room and lots of unique machines which I haven't used before. Separate area for Crossfit is also a great idea. Large swimming pool which is a bit too cold for my taste and the children. Jacuzzi is enormous with 4 lie down seats with jets down the length of your body. Awesome! Changing rooms are very clean, showers are powerful and the lockers have a 4 digit pin code that you choose each time you lock them. Virgin App is cool for booking into classes and your children into the Crèche. Parking - this is where the club lets itself down and loses a star from me. Virgin own the top floor for parking but the businesses in Norwest use it for their clients which means you are circling for 20 mins trying to find a spot during the day which is really frustrating when you only have 40 mins for a workout. Summary - beautiful clean gym let down by the parking situation. Take note Richard Branson

I LOVE this gym…read more Multiple studios, huge cardio area, spa, sauna, swimming pool even a rock climbing wall. Shower & change room facilities are great complete with GHD straightners and hairdryers. The staff are friendly, the cafe offers a good amount of variety and the facilities are always clean. The only reason this isn't a 5 star-er is because classes are incredibly popular and often hard to get into via the online booking system. You can only book 7days & 4 hours in advance and for a gym bunny like me, a max of 6 class bookings just doesn't really seem fair - I pay for unlimited access why can't I have unlimited classes? Ps - the car park is right there and included with membership.
