Tourism is not extensive at Workington. The owners, Steven and Angela are really nice and do a good job of making sure you have a comfortable stay. I happened to stay in Room 10 on the second floor towards the rear of the building. The room was spacious, warm and clean. The bed was comfortable and I enjoyed three nights of blissful sleep. They also have free Wifi. At the moment they only do breakfast. I was told that they're in the process of refurbishing the hotel after which they will be able to provide a full dining experience. Talking of the breakfast, I was keen on a bacon sandwich. I had an amazing plate of sandwich on the two days I chose to have breakfast and got a good quantity of excellent coffee to wash it down. Again, no complaints whatsoever. They do have a policy of no food in the rooms, which came as a bit of a let down. However, according to Steve, they have had a few bad experiences of sauces and gravy being spilled on the sheets, which has resulted in this policy. So, you've been informed. Overall, if and when I have to go to Workington the next time, I would prefer to stay at the Green Dragon.

We stayed in the little out-house, 'out back' and it was perfect! It's a quaint little B&B but it was perfect for our little weekend getaway, it can sleep 3 people (which we needed for the first night), the view is excellent, the staff is very pleasant, the bed was HUGE, good pillows, excellent breakfast, phone and internet reception is great - we'd stay here again! My only small complaints is that it was too hot overnight and the towels were the size of postage stamps. That aside it was a great stay, so very relaxing and removing from all things 'normal' and we'd love to go back!

The owners were very helpful is so many ways as we started our hike. Like, did you know that on Sundays there is very little open in the way of restaurants in Carlisle? But the people here know which ones are and filled us in. A total life saver at the end of 15 miles. Room was roomy and overlook the street but very bright and light. Bed was great and plenty of space to store things, if you are into that. Breakfast was pretty standard and packed lunches were very nice. I would come back and stay here to explore the rest of the area.

The room was clean and homely with plenty of supplies such as selection of teas, coffee and a cookie. I had a lovely view on the mountain, which is a nice bonus. Couldn't open the window though.
