There's a good broad menu and a starter and main course deal for £15.00 if you want it, the special I had was scallops with a white wine and smoked bacon sauce and creamy mash along with green veg, plenty on the plate and no skimping on the king scallops (5 on my plate, and big) which melted in my mouth. it was very reasonable as well, just shy of £12 for the plate. Good broad selection of bottled beets and Best and Magners on tap, though I suspect that if you asked ten you could get other draft beers etc from the bar as well.

We stayed in the Stewart room, on the upper floor, with a beautiful view over Loch Gilp. It was pretty rainy the day we stayed, but when the sun came out the view was incredible. The bed was comfortable and quiet. The one part of the room/stay we didn't really enjoy was the electric shower, which was either scalding or cold. But other than that, the room was great. The hosts, Philip and Caroline, were outstanding. We had breakfast in the dining room and talked with Caroline about the area and things to do for the day, as well as spoke with the only other guest in the house. Breakfast was delicious, including fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, and hot food. Additional great aspect of this B&B? They don't accept children, so if you are a couple looking for a nice place to stay, this is a wonderful option. We highly recommend this spot!

Afternoon Tea Experience…read more Came here to have a nice Afternoon Tea. We did stay just half an hour away for a couple of days and the Afternoon Tea looked excellent when we checked online. Made a reservation (a must) a few days before. Our Bulldog was welcome here as well which was great! There are several parking lots on the grounds, so we took one a bit further away from the building to enjoy a bit of a walk on the grounds before heading in. The Afternoon Tea is served in The Lobby Bar. Which might not sound exciting, but actually has a very comfy and classy setting. Some tables (which were taken already) with wonderful views. Got our table and got the Afternoon Tea explained. Then ordered some pots of tea - there's more complimentary tea in case one or two aren't enough. You even can switch to other flavours. Dilma tea is served here and has some excellent flavours. "Italian Almond", "Blueberry/Pomegranate" and "Rose, Marzipan & Mint" were all great. First served was Leak & Potatoe Soup, Haggis Bonbons, Vol-au-Vent, Quiche and various Finger Sandwiches (Scottish Smoked Salmon with Dill Butter | Roast Chicken & Cranberry | Cream Cheese & Cucumber | Brioche with Egg Mayo & Cress). All fantastic items. Nothing store-bought, really tasted housemade and homemade. Then Strawberry Pavlova, Chocolat Religieuse, Victoria Cake and Lemon Poppy Seed Cake. Third and last then the Scones with clotted cream and jam were served. This really is an experience and you won't go home hungry. Don't plan on any big meals later on....or before arriving. The quality is really high, it really rises above any other Afternoon Teas we've had in various places. Even a big name in London wasn't as good as this one. But not just taste-wise it was excellent, but also the presentation. All pieces of art. As great in taste as they look. Amazing. Service was nice and friendly and working hard. Just at the start there was a bit of confusion. First the tea didn't arrive. And when it did, there weren't any cups yet on the table until we've called. But that was a very minor issue that didn't bother our great experience here. And really: at 50$ pp it is fair priced. You get a lot of wonderful dishes and items here. You can also upgrade to an Afternoon Tea with Champagne or Sparkling Wine if you'd like to. Surely the best Afternoon Tea we've had so far. Highly recommended. The Cameron House itself is a beauty and the location stunning.

The restaurant is somewhat of an institution in this part of the world. Playing host to a menu which caters to a distictly Scottish palate, this place has been a favorite or residents for years now. We visited the Inverkip Hotel only a few nights ago when I was down at my parent's. The service in here is brilliant and, is the case with many small villages, staffs young boys and girls learning the catering trade. I opted for smoked salmon and potato scone (sounds weird but is beautiful!), while others tried the haddock goujons and lentil soup. Thumbs up all round! For the main two of our party went for the chef's special which was a roast beef dinner, another had the monkfish and prawn thai red curry and I tried the chicken stuffed with haggis. My dish was perhaps the the least appetising when it arrived and indeed the chicken was a little dry but the rest were very good indeed. Finish off with tablet ice cream and a chocolate fudge cake and you go to sleep a happy chappy! Their is also an adjecent bar for after dinner drinks or just a night out in a quiet village.

Shortly after entering I was met by one of the staff and they were very friendly and said they were slow and I could pick my room. So they gave me a few keys and let me check them out. The building was small and each floor had 3-4 rooms on it. We picked the room facing away from the center of town because below us and to the right was a bar. The rooms were large, clean, contemporary and quiet, plus the beds were very comfortable. We also checked out the restaurant and the food was very good. Checking in was very easy and the front desk staff was extremely friendly and hospitable. They made sure to give us a lot of information and made it easy to book breakfasts in the morning (which even though it came with our room, we only ate 1 out of the 2 times). Breakfast is good but they don't replenish the continental portion if you come later in the day, FYI. The room was gorgeous and fairly clean, with the exception of a few details. I think it's odd hotels don't clean the top décor blanket on the bed. I had to strip that immediately as there was what looked to be pepperoni pizza mushed into it. Very large and noticeable by the way. The drapes were also covered in schmutz, so the luxury level kind of drops when you see things like this. We got a junior suite and the room was very large with an incredible view of the harbor. I mean the view alone was worth the money. The bathroom however, was not large. All the reviews I read said the bathrooms are big and great. Mine was not. It was cramped and the door to the shower made no sense at all. My 5'2" 120 pound mother would have a hard time entering this shower. It feels super gross to wash yourself and then have to rub your body against a wall to get out of the shower. Also, another thing people really seem to fail to mention is that this hotel had NO air conditioning. I read a lot of reviews before I stay at a place and was shocked that people don't mention it. There is a small fan in the closet though and you can get ice from the bar to makeshift your own a/c.

We were on the first floor so if I wanted a sea view, I just walked across the hall to the spacious lounge. The WiFi was better there as well. It's located just 10 mins walk to downtown Oban and maybe 15 mins to the ferry terminal. It's a Victorian guesthouse so the doors squeak and the floors creak, minor quirks really. There isn't a lift. There's also very little horizontal space in the bathroom to put your stuff but that's fairly typical of many old guest houses. The only complaint I have is the lighting in the hallways is very dim for someone like me with very poor vision. I was always worried about falling down when making my way down the multiple steps and stairs in the dim light. Breakfast was in a spacious room on the ground floor. There are starters of cereal, fruit, yogurt and juices. Hot food - eggs, porridge, bacon, sausages, etc - is cooked to order but only takes a few minutes. Coffee is really good. The staff is just wonderful and will do what it takes to make you happy. We enjoyed our stay here and hope to return.
