When I went in for my trial with Dana, I had a half up look with 2 twists back, the end result was messy and had Bobby pins sticking out a lot, I had assumed this was because it was the trial and we had moved the hair quite a bit and she didn't need to take the time to clean it up as it was the trial. I was wrong as this was the same result on wedding day. I had decided to simplify my half up look that I did at the trial just a little and one twist per side instead of two, but my stylist questioned me for wanting to change and was resistant of going with a small variation. I showed her a photo for reference and was very clear in explaining and showing her what I wanted. My hair was nothing close to what I asked for, when she first showed me in the mirror what the back looked like I was left speechless and honestly horrified because it was nothing what I asked for and looked like a mess. I had to bring my mom and sister over to help see what she was doing with the back of my hair because she wasnt understanding how to clean up the style and to style it the way i asked. She didn't listen to what I wanted, did the opposite of what I asked and I was in tears sitting in her chair because I knew that my hair was not going to look how I wanted on my wedding day and had little faith that she could make it look like what I even remotely wanted. Eventually I gave up trying to tell her and show her exactly what I wanted and accepted that my hair wasn't going to be what I wanted because I was then running out of time and had to continue getting ready. I look back at the photos and am sad and embarrassed about how my hair looked that day. My bridesmaids and mom also had issues with both Dana and her partner Monika of them not listening to what they wanted and the styles looking much different than the inspiration photos given. My hair also did not stay secure and pinned up, it fell out completely during the reception and I resorted to putting my hair up myself. I am really disappointed and honestly wish I had done my hair myself, it would have saved me stress and tears on my wedding day and I know I would have actually liked my hair. I am not one to typically write about my negative experiences, but as many are looking for a hairstylist for your wedding day, I want the brides to have the best experience on their wedding day and to be happy, so to proceed with caution when booking.

At my bridal trial, she spent 2 hours perfecting my look and seeking approval each step of the way. Even after we completed my makeup, she sat me back in the chair to find a better lip color. As a minimal daily makeup connoisseur, I found this attention to detail amazing. Her team was funny and social the entire trial, as well. The day of my wedding started off with a text from Patty the night before! So sweet to know your makeup team is thinking about you. All of my bridesmaids loved their makeup, especially the airbrush foundation. Patty and her team held to the outlined schedule. We added on a touch up service, which was so helpful after being rained on in the afternoon. Patty herself stayed for the services and helped me fix my veil and hair for the evening, too. I cannot recommend Patty and her team enough!

I am Asian and doing makeups for Asian can be hard - e.g. hooded eyes. I tried several Asian makeup artists but for some reason, the results just look awkward to me. But thanks to them, I found Jen. Her previous work looked amazing and she had experience doing makeups for Asian brides, so I decided to give it a shot. The trial went great! She was very patient and listened to my suggestions. During our communication, she was also very responsive and professional. On the wedding day, Jen arrived on time and kept everything on schedule!

For the trial, I worked with Cielo and she was just a pleasure to work with. She truly listened to my vision and what I wanted for my bridal look. I was obsessed with the hair from the jump (it look just like my inspo pic) and my makeup looked great but I had a few things I wanted to slightly tweak for the wedding day and she absolutely made the changes (a bit fuller coverage, warmer more bronzed/blush look). On the wedding day, the team (Kikki, Ben, and Cielo) showed up early and ready to set up. They had their work stations all ready to go by 8am and were very professional. They were so fun to talk to and also really listened to everyone's visions. My husband's mom isn't a big makeup wearer but wanted to get a set of fake lashes glued on and didn't know how, so they even did that for her using their lashes for free. She was pleased. Kikki offered airbrush or regular base for makeup which was nice to have the option. I have a small tattoo on my collarbone I wanted gone for the wedding and Cielo covered it up perfectly. Seriously you could not see it. Ben killed it with the hair and was touching girls hair up close to the end for the girls who went earlier. Finally, working with Liz as the point of contact at Refined Beauty for booking was wonderful. She communicated throughout the entire process, updated my contract when we had a few changes to hair/makeup count, answered all my questions, made my wedding day MU&H timeline for me, checked in after my trial to get my honest thoughts and then checked in before the wedding again to confirm everything. I highly recommend Refined Beauty for any wedding; they can handle a large group, executed our visions, and I can tell they really love what they do! I do not have professional pictures back yet to upload but will try to find a few to put here.

This is one of the worse experiences I have experienced especially for a wedding trial! I came into…read morethe salon and brought photos of the hair and makeup I wanted. The hair and makeup I wanted was very simple and I will attach the photos below. I am quite upset that I spent $200 on this trial for both hair and make up. I came to the salon with moisturizer and sunscreen, and I let her know that my skin was super sensitive to products. She asked what kind of products I used at home, I told her and she said she knew what they were. Perfect! She then wiped everything off and started applying stuff on to my face. I have been to aestheticians before, and normally they always show the product that they will be applying to my face to make sure I am not allergic to that product. The products she used on my face caused me to breakout the next day, and I have had breakouts ever since. A week later and now my breakouts are slowly dying down. She moved on to my foundation. My foundation was supposed to be an airbrushed foundation. From what I have researched, foundation with an airbrush application was supposed to give me a filtered, smooth look. Instead what I got a THICK, FLAKY, and CAKEY foundation that cracked by the time I got home from the salon. When she applied the eyeshadow on my eyelids, she got it ALL over my original lash extensions. She also attached a few individual lashes to make it "even". However, the lash extensions she applied from the trial was applied very sloppily. She got glue on my left eye, and my left eyelid was stuck when she was done. On top of all that, there were remnants of glue all over my lashes. (I will show photos below). By the end of the evening, I tried to remove the eyeshadow, that she applied, with my lash shampoo. The eyeshadow did not come off and as I scrubbed my eyelids to get the shadow off, some of my lashes came off as well. Because some of the eyelash extensions were missing, my eye lids looked like a lawnmower had cut pieces of a corn field, some lashes long, some missing. I ended up having to remove my extensions because of how terrible it looked. I asked for a simple texture bun for my hair. I definitely did not get what I asked for. My bun was super thick and sloppy, and my hair didn't look anything remotely close to the pictures. It looked like I ordered off of Wish.com. I reached out to the Kristen and notified her what happened. I asked for a refund and she refused to give me my money back. I am beyond upset at this point. Kristen did offered me to come back to get it fixed. Unfortunately, I am too traumatized from the last session and can't pull myself to go back. It is unfair that I presented their AWFUL work I paid for and they're not going to refund what they've done. PLEASE BEWARE when you book with them! Worse experience ever!
