I've worked with many realtors in the past but this one definitely takes the prize of worse one. We moved crossed country so it was important for us to depend and trust the realtor we worked with to ensure our move was as smooth as possible. Working with Edward (Eddie) from Brickell Brokers was far from smooth or trustworthy. At the beginning, he seemed to be honest and his persistence made us decide to choose him as our realtor.
We were looking for a rental in Miami, and provided him the areas we preferred and our maximum budget. He started sending us listings outside our budget and every time we asked about an apartment in our budget he would reply it was not available, which I understand rentals may go fast in certain areas but found it a bit weird that all of them would. We finally found one that was in our budget, which supposedly was available, so we requested a video tour. Once Eddie sent us the video tour, I noticed that the apartment number didn't match the apartment number from the listing, when I asked he replied that the apartment we wanted wasn't available anymore and that he showed us a similar one in the area (in another building), something he didn't think it was pertinent to share prior or even after sharing the video tour with us. And of course, that apartment was more expensive and out of our budget. We had been looking at apartments for two months now and needed to find something soon, so reluctantly we decided to move forward with the more expensive apartment.
After signing the lease, and providing the initial deposit (mind you there were 4 deposit), we were contacted by building's HOA to start the application process, and this is when we found out there were an additional 2 deposits that the HOA required, which was NEVER disclosed to us at all. When we contact Eddie to ask about these charges, he acted indifferent and made-up excuses. Once we found out about his unprofessional behavior, and omission of information I called the Brickell Broker office, and spoke to a lady called Valerie (I think was her name) which was not helpful at all and basically didn't seem to care.
On a separate, and personal note, my husband had to be the one to coordinate everything with Eddie without me because Eddie treated me rudely and disrespectfully in every encounter, and had expressed to my husband on several occasions that he didn't like women questioning him.
It astonishes me how they are still in business. We are planning on buying in a year (once our lease is up), and we would definitely not use or recommend Brickell Brokers or Edward again. read more
