Just good folks, and a lovely shop in an old house in Homewood. From the area but moved away, so I try to stop in when I visit. Always the best service. Went in last week to grab a book advertised on their website, and walked out with that plus a new pipe and stand. Next time (post COVID I hope!) I'd like to stick around and smoke a pipe or a cigar. Such a welcoming place.

Writing a review of the Briary seems like an odd thing to do; for me it's kind of like writing a review of my local grocery store. It's where I go every time I need something they have (in this case pipe stuff), and it never disappoints. This is a pipe shop, a real pipe shop, and that's a rare thing to find these days. Skip and John, the guys who run the shop most days, are both great and will treat you like a friend. Skip will also sell you a pipe while you aren't even looking; he's that good. Skip's wife Kay is wonderfully kind, and Ed, who works on Saturdays, is always fun to chat with. Mark, whom I don't know very well personally, is also clearly a very nice (and helpful) guy. In short, great bunch of folks here. If you want pipes and pipe tobacco, this is where you want to be. Pipes from wall to wall, from floor to ceiling, and a huge wall of tobacco tins that will make a newbie's head spin - but in a good way! Lighters, tampers, meerschaum, briar, corn cob, clay: they're all here, and they're all beautifully on display. And really, if you can't find a tin (or a bag) of tobacco to suit your tastes here, then you probably don't like tobacco. And despite the fact that I think of the Briary as a pipe shop, it also has an excellent, well stocked humidor, full of all the classic brands that you will quickly recognize. They will help you find something if you don't know what you need, but be prepared to buy more than you expected to: the selection is gigantic and the prices are very fair. So a good score in this category as well. Please, go to the Briary. You probably don't need me to tell you that, but if I sway one person to visit with this review, then I've succeeded. If you like tobacco (and especially pipes!), then you like the Briary. No two ways about it.

These guys are great. Well established shop in a converted old house with a well stocked humidor, cases of pipes, a huge wall of tobaccos, a very comfortable smoking room and a social atmosphere with interesting and affable locals. Not many places like this around.

Pipe rack purchased from The Briary! Love it!!!

I was driving through this area and passed this business the other day, and upon seeing it I…read moreimmediately made a uturn and went in because there was no way I wasn't going to see what was inside the place. So to start they can make custom shirts, hats, etc. This means that the next time you're sitting around and think of something hilarious that you'd like to see on a shirt, (assuming you do that...I mean doesn't everyone?), you can just go here and get that all hooked up. They also sell a variety of novelty items which might make amazing gifts. Grills, massive belt buckles, big chains and a variety of charms, humongous watches, knives and all kinds of bedazzled sunglasses and other things of that nature. If your bling game is struggling this could be a 1 stop shop to getting yourself back to shinin. They also have a massive variety of rolling papers, bongs, and assorted drug dealing equipment like scales, cocaine bullets, non stick concentrate containers and bulk packages of tiny plastic bags. Oh yeah, great cigarette prices too. So if you're in this part of town and looking to marvel at the sheer variety of things that you might not normally see then definitely stop in here. They've got it all.
