I had a 4 night stay at the Briar Patch Inn...and for me it was a delightful place. Now here is something important to most of you. Many of the cottages do not have internet service....I LIKE THAT....but for my friend who needed to do work at night we had to switch cabins. My cottage was the Sycamore and it was great: Spacious, with plenty of amenities. Lighting is dark but what the heck. This aint the ritz, four Seasons or whatever fancy pants place...but it is very charming. Ownership is really great...yes that have a pretty staunch point of view and that is the way it is...price for Shangri-La. Nice and simple breakfast. Great coffee and cookies at night. The lobby is a great place to chill and catch up on your web stuff if need be. Lush paradise in the dessert.

Our extended family did a long weekend getaway here in late July. We spent 5 days and 4 nights on this lovely property. Taking 89A through the bustling (read: touristy) downtown of Sedona I was so impressed turning off into this little haven. Set on several acres each cabin feels totally isolated and serene. Surrounded by lush greenery, climbing ivy, oaks and pine trees this is the place to get away. There is no wifi or TVs in the cabins (save the large Ponderosa cabin) so you can really unplug. No screens and kids?! Not a problem, there is a little walk way to the Creek where you can wade in and enjoy the outdoors! This is a bed AND breakfast so take advantage of the delicious breakfasts! Served buffet style every day from 8:15-10a in the office. You can take your good eats to a seat overlooking Oak Creek. The highlight of breakfast is the daily changing quiche. My favorite of which was the chile relleno. This is the a great place for a large family gathering. We had 12 total in 2 cabins and had an amazing time, couldn't recommend it more.

We had a WONDERFUL time at The Briar Patch Inn! It was just a lovely place with amazing people, service and serenity. We stayed in the Oriole. It was a little bigger than we needed, but that's okay. We enjoyed the property very much and spent 3 nights here. The bed was very comfortable and nice. The kitchen was more than ample with everything you need, even salt and pepper! We loved making a fire at night with the wood provided. One night it got a little crazy with the smoke detectors going off, but we opened the windows and doors and it calmed down. We enjoyed watching the sheep Rosie and Posie in their pen across from our cabin. We hiked all around the property and spent a good deal of time down by Oak Creek just relaxing and meditating. I love that their is no WiFi, TV or other distractions here. We did have cell service on T-Mobile, which was nice when a family member had a need. Not everyone may have cell service. Breakfast delivered to the cabin daily was amazing! We enjoyed it very much. The last day we both found the quiche very salty, like they may have put the salt in 2-3 times. But overall, it was excellent breakfast each day. The only minor thing that bothered us was 3 lights out near our cabin (as Becky stated too). One night coming back from dinner my wife nearly took a spill because she couldn't see. The light on our path was out, as was the one for the folks next door. We reported that to the owner when we checked out and she said it would be taken care of that very day. We enjoyed our stay SO much. We plan on visiting Sedona and staying at The Briar Patch Inn again this fall.

After our first look, walking the path back towards the main lodge - absolutely stunning.

My wife and I stayed at Briar Patch the week before we were married up the street at the creek. We feel as though we couldn't have picked a better inn. The grounds are beautiful and serene. The amenities of each cabin were fantastic. We enjoyed sitting in the living room at night, listening to the fire crackle. We took sunrise walks by the creek in the fresh air and watched the deer run through the trees. Every morning they served an amazing breakfast that varied every day. The staff was absolutely fantastic. Our families booked at least 7 cabins leading up to the wedding. Everyone we spoke with was extremely accommodating, friendly, and helpful. We were able to use their beautiful setting as the backdrop of our pre-wedding photos, including our first look. We were initially nervous about not having wifi and limited cell reception, but being able to completely unplug, reset, and be with each other was a godsend. We just had such a wonderful time. I would recommend Briar Patch to anyone looking to have a peaceful place to relax, just outside of Sedona in a beautiful location. We will most definitely be back.

Took my sister here for her 40th birthday and we absolutely loved it!!! It was a refreshing and secluded haven away from all the touristy traffic, yet just a short drive away when we wanted to do all that as well. I love that there is no TV or internet access in your cabin. The whole property is absolutely beautiful, full of lush and greenery! The cabins had everything we needed, down a fridge, microwave, teapot, silverware, plates and a coffee pot. We loved seeing the sheep, Rosie and Posie and spent a lot of time relaxing in the hammocks and rocking in the bench swing. The food was absolutely delicious and plentious! They allow you to order however much you need! Such a variety to choose from, cereal, oatmeal toast, muffins, quiche, our favorite was the green chili corn cakes- those were phenomenaly delicious! I really want that recipe! And of course eating at the creek side, hearing the water was such a wonderful touch to breakfast! There are many great views of the creek around and the swimming hole is just a 5 minute walk out into a nice nature trail. The kids had so much fun splashing around down there. A little bit of constructive feedback: 1. I think it would be a really great touch if the inn left a little treat for someone if they are celebrating a birthday or anniversary. 2. It would be some added fun if there were some tether balls and horse shoes to play. 3. There's a free wine gift if you check in on yelp, but what about something for the non-alcoholic drinkers? Maybe sparkling cider or chocolate?! ;) 4. A few games in the cabin would be nice. 5. A garden where you can pick fresh fruits and vegetables. We will definitely be back and most likely for a 3 day stay next time and bringing more family. We look forward to seeing how Briar Patch makes themselves even better!!!

What an absolutely perfect way to celebrate my birthday with my hubby. Deckhouse cabin was amazing. Breakfast was delicious. There are 2 very fun swimming holes, but we chose to explore up and down the creek and had a blast! All of the staff we interacted with were extremely friendly! We will be back!!

I'd like to add two more stars but I can't. My wife and I were looking for a cozy place to have a quiet weekend. We found it at the Briar Patch Inn. From the very beginning we had a great time. We got into Sedona around 6 o'clock at night and went directly to the end. We met Robin who was kind and very relaxed She gave us our key to our room and a cookie. The room was perfect with firewood in the fireplace and a beautiful little note individualized written to us. Watch out the fireplace does get very warm but it was a great evening. Next morning we start with a home cooked breakfast at the Inn's office. We originally wanted to go hiking but decide to stay on the grounds and we found a beautiful seat right next to the creek where we watched the water rushed by. We took a little nap. In the middle of the day we visited the sheep and walked around. That evening we had reservations for a dinner and music at soundbites. Make sure you make reservations for dinner every night you are there. Overall this was a great experience we are definitely definitely definitely definitely coming back. I am afraid to make this recommendation because I want to keep it all to myself.

Breakfast in the common area by the office.

As we're cruising down the main street we passed The Inn Above Oak Creek and noticed they had a lit-up vacancy sign. We immediately went in and met with the inn keeper who offered to let us go see the room before we committed to booking. This is THE cutest little 13 room inn set right on Oak Creek. There is seating down by the creek, on the patio off the main room, and inside the main room itself that all have great views. Our room was very spacious with a 2-person sized bathtub and a fireplace! It had truly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in away from home. My husband was obsessed and wanting to know how we could copy it to have at home. Both of the inn managers were so kind and took such good care of us. You could feel how much they care for the inn and value their guests. There's always coffee and water set out. They have homemade cookies in the afternoon and homemade muffins in the morning. They have a bookshelf with various options for reading and a large selection of movies. On the coffee table, they have binders full of recommendations for trails and exploring the area. It was such a cute and intimate place to stay. I'd recommend it to anyone traveling to Sedona and I'd love to stay here again! We truly couldn't have found a better place to stay for Valentine's Day. BEWARE: Targeted Attempted Robbery…read more The Joy Sedona is an undeniably stunning property. It has spacious cabins, incredible layouts, and is set beautifully right by the creek. It is exactly the kind of serene luxury retreat you expect when visiting Sedona. However, the absolute beauty of this property masks a dark, predatory reality. Please read my experience below: Every night, my wife places her highly valuable jewelry--including her stunning engagement ring and expensive diamond gold earrings--on the nightstand next to the bed. On our first morning, we woke up, all the jewelry was still there, we made coffee and walked 25 steps down from our cabin to that gorgeous creek to enjoy the morning views. Because we were in a secluded, luxury style area and only intended to be gone for a few minutes, we just left the jewelry on the table (around 9:00am). We were gone for about eight minutes but that brief eight-minute window was all it took for the illusion of paradise to shatter. When we returned, the ring and both earrings were gone. After tearing the room apart for over an hour, my wife finally, out of sheer desperation, checked the small trash bin next to the toilet. Deep inside, perfectly placed on top of tissues, was her jewelry. (I am attaching a video of my wife showing exactly how she found the jewelry buried inside the bin--obviously she wasn't filming when she actively was looking, so this video was taken a few moments after she found her jewelry, showing how it was staged). It was immediately clear to us that this was not a case of misplaced items; it was an organized, targeted attempted theft. The staff had scoped us out from the moment we arrived, targeted her high-end jewelry, and watched our movements. The second we stepped down to the creek, they made their move. The strategy was simple: hide the jewelry in the trash so that we would assume we lost it. Then, during standard housekeeping service, they would empty the bin and walk away with the items. By staging it in the trash beforehand, the perpetrator ensured they wouldn't have the stolen goods on their person if we immediately called the police, and could claim they never entered our room because it was technically before housekeeping cleaned the room. Shockingly, there are zero security cameras on this expansive property--a convenience that clearly serves those working here. When I confronted Michael, the Director of Ops, he promised a "serious investigation." Yet, the very next day, the exact same staff members were walking around the property as if nothing happened. Michael then offered us two insulting options: stay and receive a 10% discount, or leave with a refund only for the remaining night. We never once asked for a discount, a refund, or money. We only wanted justice and accountability. When I made this clear, Michael abandoned logic and maliciously stated: "The other option is that you falsified the story." When I asked him why I would fabricate a robbery when I was refusing any financial compensation, nor had I asked for any compensation at any time, his response was: "Well, sometimes people do things that don't make sense." That is when it became a disturbing question--is management in on this operation? Michael's handling of the situation and refusal to terminate or suspend the suspected staff points directly to a potential top-down cover-up. It seemed he didn't want an investigation; he wanted to protect the scam. We spoke to the guest in the cabin next to us to warn him. He revealed he and his wife stay here frequently, and last year, he remembered that his wife "lost" her necklace and simply moved on thinking she had lost it. Do not let the beautiful, open creek-side views fool you. This is not a luxury business; it appears to be a coordinated theft ring masquerading as a high-end retreat. Management appears to be actively shielding--if not leading--the exploitation of their own guests. Avoid this place at all costs unless you want your privacy violated and your valuables potentially stolen by the very people running the property.
