My wife and I do not take birthdays lightly; therefore, we like to celebrate every birthday like it's our last (you're not guaranteed to see another one). Therefore, when my wife suggested that we celebrate her birthday in Sedona Arizona, I was equally excited. To add icing to the cake, snow was on the forecast, so I was excited to see snow fall for the first time. In addition, this trip was labeled as our "relaxation" trip (most of our trips are loaded with early morning excursions), so we were both looking forward to some R&R time. After a two and a half hour drive to Sedona from Phoenix, we pulled into the quaint establishment. When we entered the front lobby, we were greeted by an employee who already had the keys prepared for our check-in. Before sending us off, he provided us with a brief and thorough description of the establishment's amenities. We were impressed by not only the position of the room (perfect view of the red rocks), but also by the room's amenities (i.e., large jetted tub, two Smart televisions, full kitchen, fireplace, dual head shower, quality bathing products). Outside of the pink jeep tour (feel free to read my review if interested), in-room couple's massage (provided by Beatrice Boistel and Caroline Masset), and wine tasting tour that my wife coordinated with the hotel concierge, we intended to utilize every amenity offered in our room. Every morning during our six day-five night stay, we had the free breakfast in the dining area located next to the front lobby. The breakfast was a pre-selected meal that varied by day. For the most part, the breakfast was ok. However, two things stood out to us. One being the food sometimes lacked seasoning and was sometimes undercooked. Another being that the breakfast staff seemed terrified by the guest. I would never accuse an establishment of abusing it's employees, but the employee's fearful demeanors was definitely in-line with that of those who feared being aggressively reprimanded by their employer. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here at A Sunset Chateau. The rooms provide breathtaking views of Sedona's Rocky Mountains and are well-equipped for those days where you don't feel like leaving the room. In addition, staff does a great job of suggesting & orchestrating excursions (shout out to Beatrice and Caroline for their magical hands), the establishment is in close proximity to local restaurants and grocery stores, and the front desk employees (unfortunately I did not get the specific staff member's name) can make one hell of a margarita! I recommend A Sunset Chateau to anyone looking for a relaxing establishment (which I've heard to be the best in Sedona) to settle down at when visiting!

The absolute best bed and breakfast in Sedona, Arizona it hits on all levels. Staff is friendly and the view won't quit !

So disappointed we aren't staying longer. This place is magical, amazing hot breakfast, our room has a private balcony with an incredible view and fireplace and jacuzzi. My daughter even said when can we come back? The bed is incredibly comfortable too!

The views--incredible! The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Love the covered porch with our unit that allowed us to enjoy mountain views comfortably throughout the day. Breakfast was delicious. Staff was kind and accommodating. Highly recommend! If you are traveling with kids, it is also just around the corner from a public park with shaded playground.

Sunset Chateau is one of the loveliest low key casita style bed and breakfasts I've ever stayed at. I will always book here when I can! Everything about this place is magical and 5 star worthy. The rooms were impeccably clean & spacious, the grounds beautiful as are the views, staff are beyond friendly, and the location is prime. I felt like I had stumbled upon a hidden treasure but I know it's the right thing to do to share. The romantica casitas are exactly that, romantic! So luxurious having these large suits to yourself. The fireplace and couch in the living area are the perfect bonus to an already amazing space with a large jacuzzi tub and kitchenette. And like I said earlier, amazing views of the red rocks but also far enough back from the busy strip so it's very relaxing and beautiful. The staff here are so so nice. From check in, to walking the grounds, to breakfast in the dining room, to check out. I definitely felt valued as a customer here and the excellent service will keep me coming back. Nice little food and drink perks here as well. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was delicious. Daily rotating menu which was appreciated. Also you can get drinks delivered to your room - a nice touch. They make the best prickly pear Margaritas here. We overindulged some nights that's for sure. If you are looking to escape an overly packed hotel/resort then look no further because this place is intimate and Low key but with impeccable service and standards. My only upgrade would be I wish they were a dog friendly hotel as that would have made this spot A+++ but otherwise I can't stop recommending this place enough.

My wife and I stayed in the bella vistas for a couple nights. The room was very comfortable and clean. The views from the balcony were beautiful. The staff was very friendly. We have nothing but positive things to say about staying here. If we had one knock it would be the blueberry waffles that we had for breakfast. They were very bland. They could have been great if the glaze they used on top was sweet. Just a critique that maybe they can fix to make that breakfast better.

What an amazing stay in this gorgeous boutique style hotel! The suit was so comfortable and so beautifully decorated! New and updated bathroom with a bath tub! Totally breathtaking view of the red rock mountains! Perfect location in the middle of Sedona but off the main and noisy street, only 2-3 minutes drive. Delicious breakfast included, doesn't get better than this! Just a great stay in beautiful little town of Sedona with majestic views everywhere you look!

Very nice and Quiet place, very private. Staff is friendly, and their breakfast is delicious. Close to everything in town, lot of hiking trails nearby to easily start your day and make it back in time for breakfast. Lot of restaurants nearly and a Starbucks down the road along with some grocery stores. Would definitely come again.

What a wonderful place so cozy , well designed every nook has a surprise waiting for you. The most delightful outside areas all decorated differently. Most amazing were the breakfasts included every morning wow is all I can say. All the employees go out of their way to make our stay fabulous. If you need recommendations have questions Elizabeth at front desk the BEST. We had an amazing stay celebration. Teri Marascio

My husband and I stayed here for two nights as part of our 40th anniversary trip. We loved A Sunset Chateau. It's a tad weathered on the outside but pass through the gate and all is beautiful. Our room was beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. The view from our porch was absolutely gorgeous. Very peaceful. The people were very helpful with places to see in Sedona. Also it's in a great location- many grocery store restaurants etc within a half mile or less . Breakfast is delicious but does start late -8:30 . Would recommend with no reservations

It was our first time to the Southwest United States so we wanted a true experience and A Sunset Chateau provided just that. However, once we arrived at the property, the pictures online did not do it justice. It was an all around stunning property, complete with art, fountains, fire pits, and so much more, all while providing some of the best views of Sedona's red rocks. The entire inn had a gorgeous, Southwestern touch. It appeared as if each suite and room was carefully curated to provide an exceptional customer experience. The best part of our stay were the amenities. There were both a private and public balcony, which showcased panoramic views of Sedona's red rocks. They are both the perfect place to enjoy a drink while watching the sunrise and sunset. Not to mention both an indoor and outdoor jacuzzi. The indoor jacuzzi was both modern, well maintained, and perfect for two people. The outdoor pool and hot tub were located right near two fire pit's, surrounded by luxurious art work. The inn also had a drink menu, in which you could order a drink of your choice, usually in the evenings and the breakfast had a southwestern style influence. The whole experience of A Sunset Chateau was that of a romantic resort. We highly recommend A Sunset Chateau to anyone seeking a romantic, yet intimate experience in the heart of West Sedona, seeking a true Southwestern experience.

This really was a nice place. But when there's an ISSUE, it can impact my overall rating. The Vista Montana suite (we stayed in room 20) was lovely. The bed was really comfortable, the view was great, from the spacious, well-equipped deck with that incredible red rocks view. Lots of attention to detail here. The deck had a table and chairs in addition to two chaise lounges, and they really figured out privacy by providing a high enough wall to prevent you from seeing your adjacent neighbors. Location is great - mostly quiet residential area, but very close to restaurants and shops at the big 89A intersection. Adjacent city park can occasionally be noisy. The electric fireplace was a nice touch, it worked well and didn't add heat and provided a nice faux flame. Television was huge (we didn't use it) and seemed to offer plenty of channels, plus the streaming service options. Bathroom was also really nice with a jetted tub, nice shower, good pressure, double vanity sinks, and great smelling bath products. Check in was smooth, and the gentleman at the front desk was helpful and accommodating (we asked for cream for the coffee and he provided fresh, not just the little creamers normally in the room). I think that was Mr. Buillet. I liked him. And the room was really clean. In the morning, it was so nice and peaceful on the nice private deck with that view, the comfortable lounge chairs, so serene. And not humid, just so pleasant. Then around 10 AM, the landscaping starts. 11. Noon. Almost the entire time, you hear the sound of gas powered trimmers and such. We actually called to ask if they could stop, or find out when would they be done, and the woman we spoke with said she'd ask the guy to move to a location farther away. Which he did for a very short while. We had left to do sightseeing, came back, still the landscaper. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 PM, still going. We didn't say anything. BUT there was a knock at the door that evening, and it was the woman we'd talked to saying we had called to apologize for not providing housekeeping service. We didn't call, because we DID get housekeeping service, which was quite good, actually. So we explained we didn't call, and whomever did call had to get the room number wrong. We took the opportunity to bring up the landscaping saying wow, the landscapers are still going now. Well, the response from this woman was a lot less than ideal for us. There was an initial apology, followed by a series of explanations. She really kind of pushed the idea that we shouldn't be complaining about the gardener and the noise between 10 and 3 because well it could've been from 8 AM to 6 PM, when they normally work. A whole lot of other things that went wrong in that conversation and it really rubbed me the wrong way. She could've just left it at sorry but she didn't. She continued talking. "Well I had to send the one guy home, so the other guy was by himself." So basically what, we're lucky that it could've been worse? I mean we're paying $450 a night and we have no option for not hearing landscaping noise during the entire day every single day because they have a landscaper here daily, is that correct? Here's a summary of the message I heard: A) The landscapers are on premises 7 days a week, and for longer hours than even we experienced ("you're lucky it was only 10-5 today because it's normally roughly 8 AM to 6 PM..). What prompted that statement was our question why can't they do it during the week instead of the weekend when they likely have so many more guests. B) We inconvenienced the resort by saying something about it ("I had to send one of the workers home so you could enjoy your day without their noise, so that put extra work on the remaining landscaper"). C) The reason for the daily landscaping is that people complain if the grounds don't look good. I'll do some research to see if i buy that. There are under 25 rooms, the grounds are large but not huge and we've stayed at resorts with hundreds of rooms that we don't hear landscapers. But nobody complains that the sound of the equipment puts a damper on an otherwise serene experience? And I checked the reviews, the only mentions of landscaping relate to the nicely manicured grounds, not the nose. But people HAVE mentioned the other noise issues that come from the adjacent city park (children playing primarily) or the dump trucks in the morning. So you'd think SOMEONE would mention landscaping noise if they're there every day all day, particularly if people mention other types of noise. You sit there in a lovely resort in laid back Sedona but that noise is a little more than incongruous with that vibe. It's a little hard to ignore. We probably wouldn't return.

Top notch finish to our coast-to-coast road trip! Hotel vs Bed&Breakfast, or should I say Hotel with breakfast - this was an oasis of peace and quietness that made one immediately feel at home. Each room was a mini 1 BR apartment its own porch and view into the garden park, with kitchen, a wonderful bathroom and an overall so lovely designed interior. Everything is well organized with a whole folder of explanations, instructions, manuals. The owners, Philippe and Janet Buillet, have obviously not shied any effort to invest their hearts into the concept of the private spaces and public areas alike to include a park-like garden with sculptures, fireplace and outdoor dining places, saltwater swimming pool. The name is well deserved as the sunset view from the porch is as stunning as looking back along the access road towards the characteristic red rocks of Sedona. Breakfast is included, orchestrated by son and chef Jean B, and consists of a single menu item, nicely put together, supplemented by fruit, a small buffet, and coffee. A classic gesture and sign of an excellent business model: the owners spend every morning time to chat with guests - and the European/Swiss connection was immediate and an unexpected but wonderful opportunity to exchange matching perceptions of the world and share experiences. Sedona is beautiful. Knowing such a wonderful place as this hotel makes it easy to come back.

We were made to feel so welcome, more like family or personal friends than just "customers" We do plan on coming back and staying again. I can't think of anything that was lacking. Highly highly highly recommend.

The location is perfect with easy access, beautiful view of Bell Rock, and away from busy traffic. The rooms are indeed very cozy and have very thoughtful touches to them. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and some snackies to take with us on our hike. The property is very clean with chill decor and a wonderful backyard area where you walk out & hike right from there. They breakfast provided is ok, but I did miss how on my first visit a few years ago, it was homemade yogurt and pastries. Now they have more of quick bites for breakfast. But the host is there too and she was friendly. I love that it's adults only too! :D

I had read reviews prior to our trip and read a bad review of our specific cabin saying it had smelled like a skunk, so I was prepared just in case. I wanted this specific cabin due to location and the outdoor fireplace. yes, when you open the front door it has a skunk smell that was noticeable for the first few minutes then it was gone. the cabin was perfect. the beds were super comfy. the kitchen was very useful. the space was more than enough for 4 of us. the view was stunning. the grounds were amazing. the creek (and its sound ) was the best. breakfast daily was plenty. the staff were wonderful and so friendly.location was great. rosie and posey were fun to visit with. I loved that there was no tv or WiFi !! And. ow to my ONLY complaint... I wish it wasn't 750 miles from home. I will go again, I just don't know when. thank you Briar Patch for a most memorable visit.

Many of the cottages do not have internet service....I LIKE THAT....but for my friend who needed to do work at night we had to switch cabins. My cottage was the Sycamore and it was great: Spacious, with plenty of amenities. Lighting is dark but what the heck. This aint the ritz, four Seasons or whatever fancy pants place...but it is very charming. Ownership is really great...yes that have a pretty staunch point of view and that is the way it is...price for Shangri-La. Nice and simple breakfast. Great coffee and cookies at night. The lobby is a great place to chill and catch up on your web stuff if need be. Lush paradise in the dessert.

My biggest complaint is the bed in the honeymoon suit. As you see in the pictures, the mattress did not fit in the bed frame and I thought that was a very tacky and unsafe. It was about a 6 inch gap all around and I was afraid that I would forget and step wrong and hurt myself. Also, the chair in the master bedroom Had a screw poking out that was uncomfortable so we did not use that chair. Lastly the only meat options on the breakfast menu was a chicken sausage, and it was very sweet like maple and I personally did not enjoy it. Now that I have told you my dislikes, here are my likes. The scenery was beautiful! We did the honeymoon suite and each door in it (the bathroom, bedroom, and living room each had a door that opened up to the patio/outside.) listening to the creek was nice! They have a gazebo as well and seating on the porch with blankets. They have a microwave and mini fridge and they provided grapes when we arrived. Day 2 they provided cute little chocolate mousse desserts. For a refresh/turndown, you text the concierge. The tub was big and deep definitely fit 2 people. It's my understanding that the honeymoon suit is the only one with the separate living room/bathroom/bedroom set up. I liked the space and separate rooms, which is why we picked this particular room (Also, just an FYI, looking at the pictures online, it looks like the furniture in the honeymoon suite is outdated/Victorian style compared to the other rooms that they have, but expected this going in because I looked at the photos ahead of time). I would consider coming back here, but for the price, the mattress needs to fit the bed frame

I ordered a Reuben sandwich with pastrami and can definitively state that this is the best Reuben I have had in my 68 years on the planet! The pastrami was lean and juicy, just enough kraut and dressing PLUS the marbled rye bread wasn't greasy or soggy as some contenders for this title were in the past. The side order of homemade potato chips balanced things out nicely. I've gotta admit though, the iced tea almost stole the show. I am somewhat an iced tea addict and their combination of black teas and fresh mint just about blew my mind. I had four refills! My wife had their veggie quiche with chips and found it equally memorable. The price for lunch was about what I usually expect to pay for dinner but it was truly worth it. The pleasant surroundings complimented the food and the waitress for our table was an absolute delight despite my running her back and forth to fetch me more iced tea! You must stop here and experience it for yourself.

These sandwiches were like if I asked my little brother to make me one. It was ridiculous and way overpriced BLTA $18 two tiny pieces of avocado on the end. The only thing that was good and fresh was the bread everything else was basic nothing special. Also ordered the croissant, chicken salad sandwich. The croissant was good, but it was flat and looked like it was the end of the weeks bread. Again, $18 for the sandwich you would think that you would get a beautiful delicious croissant that was big and fresh but this looks like the size of a dinner roll and flatten down and they put grapes in their chicken salad which I am not a fan of. Absolutely nothing special about the sandwiches, way overpriced you would be better off going to Subway and that's pretty bad. The only good thing is the bread was good and the atmosphere is nice that's it otherwise you're paying $40 for two sandwiches with a slice of old orange buried way under a large pile of old stale chips not even good chips I mean come on so unfortunetly not coming back here and I am a local. Too bad so bad! No locals discount.
