I have used Brian Plus Amanda for EVERY single photo shoot since our maternity shoot. They did our newborn shots when our daughter was 7 days old, 6 month milestone, first Christmas, 1 year etc. Our daughter is now 2 1/2 years of age and can't wait until we can get photographs with them again since our two-year old shoot never happened due to the pandemic. If you decide to do a smash cake shoot, BRING A TOWEL AND MAYBE ONE OR TWO WATER BOTTLES so you can clean up. Understandable! No problem, we'll reschedule. We called Brian FROM the urgent care. No answer. Left a message explaining what was going on. No return call. Ever. I've emailed them twice, fully recapping. No return email. Ever. It has been months and they have literally vanished into thin air. For how prompt and thorough their explanations of EVERYTHING were the first time, I'm really shocked by this. I've kept copies of everything and I'm about to file against them in small claims court. Backstory: Interacted mostly with Brian. Used for 1/2 kids.....here's why it wasn't 2/2: We used them for our first born as we saw some of their work and were impressed even though we thought they were expensive. As the process got underway, we kind of cringed at certain moments where we sensed hints of ego and arrogance in everything from the tutorial they provided to conversations that included multiple references to themselves in the third person. We continued on with it as we were already locked in and to be honest, aside from their tone, we genuinely liked how our newborn's photo turned out. Afterwards, not only did we refer business to them but we went back when our second child was about to be born. Big Mistake. To make a long story short: THEY NO-SHOWED. My wife had a confirmed appointment for a photo session. She arranged for an expensive hair and makeup session beforehand. We kind of planned for it to be a family date night afterwards with our two year old. We drove the 30+ plus minutes to their location on the fringes of the city. Knocked on the door, and no one was home. We waited and waited and waited some more. Still nobody. We were perplexed as communication with them was clear, professional, and bump-free. I attempted to cheer up my wife who was pretty bummed about it by offering to take pics at the college campus down the street from them with my iPhone. We came away with crappy photos and mosquito bites. My wife tried to text and call them throughout that evening and the next morning and day but got radio silence. Later in the evening the next day she finally got a response. She asked for a refund and they asked for the last four digits of our number. Nothing else. The worst part: No explanation. No Apologies. No Remorse. Nothing. My wife explained to them how much she paid for her preparation and they offered nothing outside of refunding the package. That is basically the end of the story. I initially put in an inquiry through their website, and I received a call and text message in regards to booking. Due to being busy, I never texted back and I received an email probably a month later from them following up again. I am very satisfied customer. I booked a newborn session. First and foremost, booking with Brian plus Amanda will ensure that you capture amazing images of your newborn. That was most important to me and they delivered. Amanda created a hand knit cap to look exactly like our dog that we love dearly. When they arrived for the shoot they were pros... my living room turned into a full blown photo set. I have a background in fashion and I was impressed with their set-up (they even set up heaters so my little girl would stay comfortable). They did more sets/changes that I expected: 8 different looks plus several nursery images. I was expecting 4-5 but since my baby was content they kept on going. They are a great team and their experience shows as the know exactly how to pose your little one creatively and efficiently. In the end, I LOVED every single image! Here is where there may be some confusion as I have read through other reviews. If you hire Brian plus Amanda you must understand that you are hiring seasoned professionals. Not your photography-on-the-side semi-pro. Their images are pieces of art and you have to pay for the digital images. People that expect to pay $300 and get amazing digital images are very unrealistic. I ended up paying just over $900 for a complete digital package and a custom photo book and I am thrilled. They captured 15 beautiful images. It's also important to note that Brain is very talented in touching up photography. My newborn had shedding skin all over her body and numerous rashes/stork-bites. He eliminated those imperfections and brought out her natural beauty. You get what you pay for! I am beyond happy with the final product. **As a last note, I wanted to comment on the previous review. I find it to be completely unfair. You are booking with a small business owner. They must put restrictions on cancellations/minimums in order to protect themselves. We had the opportunity to book a holiday mini session with Brian and Amanda and it was a wonderful experience. They chose a beautiful location at Irvine Regional Park to photograph my family of three (my husband, seventh-month-old daughter, and myself). Wow! I am so in love with the pictures of our newborn taken by Brian Plus Amanda. I can't stop looking at them. Every single pose they did was so cute! Both Brian and Amanda were so patient during the shoot, which was great since newborns do what they want, when they want. They brought all the cute props I wanted with them to my house and even brought a little heater and sound machine to make sure my son was content during the whole process. AMAZING PHOTOS/AWESOME PHOTOGRAPHERS!! I honestly cannot say enough great things about this husband/wife team. We have done a newborn session and a mini session with Brian and Amanda and have had an incredible experience each time. They are both so understanding and patient with the little ones. My son is at the age where he is a little nervous around strangers, and they came up with all sorts of solutions to get a great picture. By the end of our session Amanda had him in fits of giggles. They provided suggestions for the shoot and gave me clear instructions on when and how to contact them based on our due date. I had to be induced 2 weeks early unexpectedly and informed them, they had no problem immediately providing me with an appointment date. It was really convenient because they came to our home which was great because I wouldn't like to take my newborns out being only a week old. We have done three sessions with Brian and Amanda. Our maternity, newborn and one year cake bashing. Each time has been a great experience. They work together well and know how to get the best shots. You don't realize exactly how good Brian and Amanda are until you see the photos that they took. Lighting, colors, outfits...all amazing! They also offer many different print option which is wonderful. We had to go with the metals and I recommend that everyone buys at least one.
