If you are a seller of a home chances are your buyer will ask you for a credit for a home inspection. Unless you are looking for exaggerated reports in clear favor of the buyer I would urge you to not allow the buyer to use these guys. I did a remodel on my kitchen and master bath about a year ago. According to their own definition "A new or relatively new item usually shows no signs of wear. An item reported as showing moderate wear appears to be in the mid-range of its anticipated lifespan. The term poor condition indicates a system or component that is at, or near, the end of its useful life span. Between these three basic levels we add two intermediate conditions: minor wear, which is not quite new; and generally worn, indicating a component nearing the end of its useful life." Guess what they rated my kitchen and bath that's 1 year old? "The fixtures and surfaces in this bathroom show moderate wear." "The kitchen fixtures and surfaces show moderate wear." Really? I would like to see what these people would consider as new or relatively new and minor wear in relative to what I had. Kitchen and master bath are the largest selling points of a remodeled home and it's extremely important to get an accurate representation of the actual condition. To sum it up, these guys are great if you are looking to gouge the seller for a large credit and horrible if you are a seller. read more

Dishonest, wants to make as much money as the seller. The inspector claimed we had detected flue gas leakage. he didn't report his finding to the local gas company. If combustable gases are present it would be a hazard for the entire neighborhood. If you are a buyer, you should be aware of what you are buying. If you see a floor heater you can expect that it is old. Yes they don't make these anymore however it doesn't mean it is unsafe. PG&E performed every test on all my gas appliances and leakage. Nothing When purchasing an old home remember it doesn't have to be code of today unless new items are added, only the new items have to be todays code. Don't look at old housed if you don't want old stuff. If you are a seller and a buyer wants to use this inspector, just stop the sale and move on. The tatctics used will scare you off from your own home. I am going to fix the over inflated over priced issues myself so I can keep the 45k in my pocket. The wording he uses makes everything sound bad because he wants to make the house new. Its an old house, Ive lived there for 20 and not once has the co2 detector detected any gas. We have never been sick from gases in the house. read more

Brian did the home inspection for the 1906 fixer-upper that I inconveniently fell in love with, and he did an *excellent* job. He was thorough, clear, and explained the wide variety of repair issues comprehensibly, without dumbing it down, and gave me a sense of how to properly weight each one. Especially after having seen another inspector's report for an earlier bidder, I feel really lucky to have gotten someone as thorough and competent as he was.
