The staff in the pro shop and bag boys were SO incredibly welcoming and nice. They seemed so excited for us to be there. Between a golf round for two, two sets of rentals, and two sweatshirts in the pro shop, it seemed reasonable. The views are worth it. We stopped after hole 9 for a hot dog and pimento cheese sandwich that were very good. I would recommend this course to anyone visiting.

We ended up playing the front nine of Mt Lorette and the back nine of Mt Kidd. The course conditions were spectacular and you couldn't tell they had any water damage on the two nines that were open. Most holes are tree-lined but this course was more forgiving off the fairway vs other courses in the region. The property is in an amazing valley between two mountain ranges...most of the time I was gawking at the enormous mountains just a mile or two away from me. There were a few downsides to the day- 1) The mosquitos were bad, especially on the holes 7-9 on the Mt Lorette course. Everyone in my group had a dozen bites as they mosquitos were swarming the tees and greens 2) The white silica sand was unlike the harder pebble sand I play in AZ...about half the time I hit the ball into a greenside bunker it left me with a fried egg and became a significant penalty. 3) Hole1 on the Mt Lorette is just a terrible hole...first hole of the day and it's a dogleg with a lake to the left, river to the right and short right of the green, and a river over the green where any ball long goes down into the river. No warmup here, the hardest hole on the course is hole1. 4) Their driving range forces you to hit off mats?!? They have 36 holes on an expansive property and you can't even warm up off the grass? Crazy. Overall, this was a great experience. The employees were all friendly and the weather and conditions were near perfect. Definitely a place to check out if you're in the area and a golf fanatic.

This is one of the most extreme mountain golf courses I've ever played...the elevation gains and…read moredrops were almost too dramatic. Foreshadowing of this was from the very first hole where from the middle of the fairway 100yds to the green...the green was so downhill you can't even see it. I would also consider this a 'target' golf course. While many holes are well-presented to you from tee to green, there's plenty of holes where you pick an aiming line and distance and hope for the best. They also have a physical bullseye target on the 18th hole. There's also some uphill and sidehill lies where you can barely stand. I've never had to grip down to the shaft of my club multiple times until playing here. I played here in early July right after a ton of rainfall in the area. The course was surprisingly still in great shape with no signs of water damage, and the fairways were a good mix of dry on top but lush below. The greens were good sized for the holes and had many options for pin placements. The best part of the course are all the spectacular views you get. There's hundreds of photo-worthy shots from this course. The workers and amenities were also great. We ate lunch after our round on their outdoor patio. The food was great and reasonably priced. It was also fun watching groups finish up on the dramatic 18th hole. Overall, it was a enjoyable experience and day at Silvertip and I would recommend the experience to any avid golfer.

We enjoyed our round immensely as it seemed like we were the only ones out on the course. At the turn, the snack shack was open even though there were only a few people on the course. I was most thankful for this as they offered some hot beverages! We got hot cocoa with Baileys which definitely helped to warm up my hands, tummy and spirits. We look forward to when we can play again under sunny skies. We also enjoyed dinner too in the clubhouse. Because they were setting up for a special event in the main dining room, Melody sat us in the Members Lounge which was very nice as it afforded views of the golf course and mountain. Melody was very welcoming and gracious. Maddy took very good care of us ... running back and forth asking our questions of the kitchen and getting us refills on our drinks. Both ladies were fantastic and made a wet, gray day brighter. We will definitely be back at some point in the future.

Forward tees were around 4700 yds which is a little short but fit well with my game. You could do red/gold combo for 5000 yds but I stuck with red only. It helped as I didn't have to hit over long grass or other hazards. The course was in great shape. Fairways were green, greens rolled true, some tee boxes were a little rough but over all in great shape. Not a ton of water but lots of sand and some narrow fairways. The course was busy and we were paired with a member which was as great as he had lots of insight as to how to play each hole. Staff was helpful. The round was slow, around 4.5 hours but there were a lot of people on the course. Carts had gps and nice seating. The views were outstanding. So many picture perfect backdrops throughout the course. It was pricey but we loved it.

The course has won many prestigious awards for being not only a top course in Canada but in the entire world. The course is set on the Bow River and you are surrounded by majestic mountains. The pictures will not do it justice as I spend more time gawking at my environment than focusing on my game. The course is almost 100 years old, so it's a fairly straight-forward design with larger round greens and straight & flatter fairways. The challenges here are the bunkers and keeping the ball between the trees. The highlight hole is hole#4, which is a Par3 called the Devil's Cauldron where you hit down to a green 100ft below you while looking straight into the prettiest mountainside in North America. Watching the ball fly and drift down again this backdrop is amazing. You are really paying for the scenery and location...if you airlifted the hole/course designs out of Banff and placed in the AZ desert it wouldn't garner much attention. The wildlife around the course is very prevalent. I saw a lot of elk and deer, and then on the 16th tee we saw a black bear cub. We are just glad we didn't run into mama bear! On the day we played, there was no running water, which meant no indoor toilet use and no hot food. This was disappointing, but I'm sure it's been resolved by the time you're reading this. The other eye-popper is the green fee can range up to over $500 CAD, luckily we had a deal and paid ~$140 US. For $140 US I would play again if I was back in the area. Overall, this was a very memorable experience and I highly recommend to at least play it once if you're a golf fanatic.

No cars to worry about. The staff at the Lake are amazing from the moment you arrive. You can hike trails, rent canoes or kayaks or take the boat ride. Dress warmly, as it gets cold in the winter months and the water is NEVER warm! Our wonderful guide made sure to explain that to us. There was a nice vibe between the crew and visitors. Another nice piece to this trip. This was simply relaxing and what else could you be looking for on a vacation than to do something that puts a smile on your face and allows you to sit back and relax. It was nice to stand outside the back of the boat and enjoy the view. Their only restriction was to keep the count no higher than eight. Even with a full boat it worked out just fine.
