We had a great experience at the Brevard Zoo. We saw animals you don't usually see. Animals from Africa, Australia and all parts of the world. We even saw a small female kangaroo with her baby in her pouch. It is great for kids and families. There are small confession stands for food and drinks, lot of volunteers around the zoo to explain things and guide you. There are even mist stations when it gets hot. The bathrooms were clean and plenty of room. There was even a photographer and a zoo shop. Not to mention plenty of parking. The fee is $30 per person. For seniors and veterans it's $5 off a ticket.
If you are a zoo person, then this zoo is a must visit. Great for adults and the kids will love it. We spent a little more than 4 hours and we seen and did just about everything. We took a little guided kayak tour, train ride, we fed the birds and fish, and my wife fed a camel. They also have a zip line. All the animals looked healthy and content in their environment. We did not eat any food, since we had breakfast before we went, but from what I could tell, the food looked pretty good. If in the area , plan on taking the family to the zoo.
This zoo is so great! Moving here from a much bigger city, I was expecting to be underwhelmed by this place but I am glad to say I was wrong. It's big, and well mapped out, with something for everyone. The staff and volunteers are kind and helpful. Lots of benches to help out when the kids get tired to take a quick rest. I visited while chaperoning a school field trip but I am looking forward to come back and explore on our own time so we can do everything but especially the train.
This zoo is amazing! One of the best mid size zoos we have ever been to. The zoo workers/volunteers were so helpful and friendly. We loved how all the animals were divided up into various regions of the world and each region exhibit area was done so nicely. Also we loved how much space the animals had in their habitats. There also were lots of different runs that lots of animals could go from one area of their exhibit to another. There were also several different add on adventures..kayaking, ziplining, and tree climbing. Many different option for food and beverage. All in all a favorite place that we have been to since we have lived in Florida. We will definitely go back!
Such a wonderful zoo! So many animals, well kept grounds with friendly volunteers throughout to help with directions or give extra info about the animals. We only did one add on: for $5 extra my husband and I both got to feed the lorakeets nectar and it was so exciting to have these little birds interact with you!
My visit to the Brevard Zoo exceeded my expectations. We went with the goal of doing the Nyami River Tour kayak adventure,$12.95 for adults in addition to zoo entry. The kayak trip was longer than I expected and we saw behind the scenes of the zoo and animals. The zoo was celebrating 30 years. The zoo was very clean and very well laid out by different habitats. In addition to the kayak tour, there are several other experiences you can buy for an additional fee. The volunteers enthusiastically shared their knowledge. There is a large onsite parking lot.
I love this zoo so much. All the staff and volunteers are always very engaged, helpful and look like they fully enjoy being there. It's an easy zoo to walk around, a perfect half day place to bring the kids. The splash pad is def an added bonus! I highly recommend getting annual passes if you live near here, they are so worth it and you get discounts on almost everything! And they have a lot of hands on animal encounters available
My family and I have just moved to Florida from Chicago a little over a month ago, and Chicago has two zoos which are pretty great. We've heard great things about this zoo and we've decided to check it out. We were kinda shocked at how much it cost, think we paid $80+ for the day. In Chicago one of the Zoos is free while the other is half the price of what we paid here, BUT it was worth it! Honestly this is a great family experience, they had a small water park for the kids which is great to cool everyone off, so don't forget to pack swimsuits, a nice playground to sap the kid's energy, and a petting zoo. Some of the animals had there own bridges, which they use, that was cool to see. They have zip lining, kayaking, and a Safari style train ride for all ages. They also have an aviary where the birds land on you (if you have food) and there really cool unique species. They also have a place you can walk into and see kangaroos and emus up close, no barrier. There's just so much they have there that I can't mention them all, it's an all day place if you ask me. They also had good service, very friendly and informational. I would definitely take the family back to this place, just looking for an event.
This is by far the best zoo we've visited in Florida. The animal exhibits are huge and thoughtfully designed so you feel incredibly close to the animals throughout the park. We even did the $6 train ride--at first it felt short, but by the end the animals were so close it was honestly an amazing experience. You really feel immersed the whole time. We will definitely be coming back! If we lived closer we'd get an annual pass.
Stopped in to check out their giraffes and giraffe kayak adventure as advertised online. It is $2 cheaper to book your tickets online rather than buying them at the zoo. Parking fills up quick so you may end up walking a bit to the entrance. Once you enter I have to say we did the entire zoo and kayak tour in 1:30 maybe less. The biggest complaint I have was people with small children just clogging up the walkways with strollers and making it not easy to pass and then giving major attitude. This zoo is definitely smaller than I was expecting for the ticket prices. I was most excited as I love giraffes they are my absolute favorite animals. I was able to feed them for $10 and then we also opted to do the kayak tour thru Africa for $12.95 per person. The kayak tour I can say save the money and don't do it. You can barely see any of the animals from the river nor do they come close enough for a decent photo. The zoo was packed at 10-11am when we went and if was absolute chaos. It definitely is more of a fun experience I'm sure to bring your kids. But I can say I was disappointed by the hype around the giraffe encounters they advertise to see they were lacking in person. I don't think I would return.
Loved visiting this zoo. The way they organized it by habitat and in a circle for each area of animals, they made it possible not to miss any section. My faves were the giraffes, lions, kangaroos, rhinos, giant sea otters, and flamingos. I was surprised that we were able to see the kangaroos up close. That was so cool. We spent about 3 hours here. They had a good amount of shade for those hot days but we came on a perfect weather day. They also have a mural display throughout the park through May. We only missed one section bc it was closed at the time we visited but we still didn't feel that we missed anything. That area is for the kids to play and splash around in as well as a petting zoo. This is a great zoo. So glad we visited! They also have kayaks and zip lines animal viewing which we did not do. They also have animal feedings and encounters as well. So great fun for the whole family.
What a great zoo! My friend and I took our kids here for the morning and had such a wonderful time!! Parking was plentiful and it was easy to navigate the front gate area as well. We walked through a lot of the different exhibits, got to feed the giraffes and even watch the monkeys take the bridges around their habitat! There was so much to do and see, and for only going for a few hours I felt like we did so much!! This zoo was very family friendly, and easy to navigate with a stroller. There was also a lot of shaded areas which was nice in the Florida heat. Overall we had a great time here and I can't wait to come back again in the future! read more
I had such a great experience at Brevard Zoo! It ended up being the perfect afternoon activity. The zoo is very well maintained, clean, and easy to walk through, which made the whole visit really enjoyable. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. You can tell they take pride in the zoo and care about the guests' experience. I also think the admission price is a good value for everything you get. It never felt overcrowded, and there was plenty to see and do without feeling rushed. Overall, I had a really fun and relaxing time and will definitely be coming back again! When we were looking for places to visit with my brother in Viera, the zoo - something we hadn't been to since our kids were little - was not top of mind. Yet when you are 10 minutes away from a nationally-recognized zoo...OK! We were impressed with this zoo: the care taken to create an environment that each animal could feel good in. All I could remember were the old-style zoos with the poor animals in a concrete prison, bored and lethargic. It was so refreshing to see the opposite here. We wandered through the various lands (the zoo is well laid out) and had a marvelous time. Rhinos, lions, monkeys, flamingos, giraffes and more. All close enough to get good pictures. We appreciated that each area had a thoughtful description of the animals to learn more. Seeing the giraffes so close as they ate greenery was amazing! Even on a weekday, the zoo was bustling with families. The zoo also was starting a new endeavor, a light show beginning that night, which looks like it will be fun. My brother was set to visit the following week; we alas would be back in California, and have to content ourselves with photos. read more

We went today for the Kayak experience and to my surprise this zoo has many free close encounters with the animals. We got to see the kangaroos up close. The kayaking experience was very cheap and we enjoyed our time with our tour guide Kayla. Definitely recommend. read more
Brevard Zoo is a nice size. There are 4 main areas and none require a significant amount of walking. We started in the African exhibit. It was so cool. I loved how close we could get to the lions, rhinos, and giraffes. We did the giraffe feeding and that was a great experience. You can get so close to these amazing animals. There are a few places where a quarter can give you a handful of food for fish, birds, and deer and it was fun to get up close and personal with these animals. We also did the Rainbow Lorikeet feeding with nectar cups. That was so cool. Birds land on your hand, head, and shoulders and eat out of the cup you are holding. It was such a fun, unique experience. Loved it. You exit the zoo through the gift shop and I was able to pick up a few postcards. Really enjoyed the experience. read more

We visited Brevard Zoo for the first time during our Disney cruise and Cocoa Beach trip this past fall. It was around 40 minutes from cocoa beach and well worth the visit. The entire zoo took about an hour or two to walk around the whole park. They have awesome animals there including kangaroos, giraffes, penguins and more. Plenty of feeding opportunities including kangaroo and giraffe feedings. Make sure you check on feeding schedules if interested prior yo your visit. We didn't eat there except ice cream desert which was all good. If you're in town, highly recommend visiting this zoo. Pro Tip: we bought discounted tickets at the local Space Force Base and got our entire family in at a discounted rate. If you have access, worth the trip to the base as it's also on the way from the beach. read more

I went here on Saturday and had a great experience. You can buy your entrance tickets online ahead of time to save time waiting in the line. You can also buy the tickets for the extra animal experiences online. I wish I would have done that since it was sold out. I loved the animal experiences here. We fed the kangaroos, birds and giraffe. Make sure to check the animal feeding times on the website for your visit. The kangaroo feeding was only from 10am-11am but was ended at 10:45am due to the kangaroos being full. The food choices here have improved since my last visit. There were vegetarian plant based options available this time. The vegetarians in our group had the black bean sandwich, French fries and a cheese pizza. My family had the chicken tenders and loaded fries. read more

We spent about 2 hours here with our 2 year old and had a nice time! We only made it to the reptile/rain forest exhibit so unfortunately missed out on the Africa and other sections. But when with a 2 year old, we do things based on their mood and behavior! The exhibits were up close and made for close encounter experiences with animals like river otters, birds, and monkeys. We saw a lot of wildlife and got some good pictures and overall enjoyed ourselves! We loved feeding the fish with the quarter food machine and got a kick out of that. Our admission tickets we felt were fairly priced. The main negative issues we had were minor, mainly the food options were not open yet when we were there except for ice cream, and the gift shop had no snacks beyond a handful of candy options. It was $10 for a bag of mini chocolate covered pretzels. Unfortunately the exit for the zoo is through the gift shop and we had already experienced a horrible toddler tantrum in there, but the staff was kind to let us exit through the entrance so our kid didn't have to see the toy section again and have another meltdown. It is a small and intimate zoo and a nice way to spend a couple hours in the morning! read more
Love this volunteer-based zoo that has a lot going on for it! From feeding lettuce to giraffes or seeds in the parakeets for a small price to kayaking along their river or taking a train safari-- there is something for everyone! I really enjoyed the layout and size of this zoo because it guides you through all the exhibits without being overwhelming. Definitely recommend getting here when it opens because the animals or more lively and you can also feed the kangaroos! If you're in the area, highly recommend! Brevard's Hidden Gem! The Brevard Zoo started with humble beginnings but over the years has invested into the right experiences. This is a class act from helpful and caring staff, clean facilities and great opportunities to see animals up close. Today we included one of the extra experience Adventure Canopy Course which was a tree top high extreme course navigating the Rainforest above the ground about 2 stories high. This was an amazing experience to see the animal exhibits but was also physically challenging with a lot of bending down and having to navigate rope bridges. We didn't eat here but they have a food area with standard fair of burgers, chicken fingers and sandwiches. Finally, we feed the cute giraffes which were happy to let you feed them and take a photo, some didn't like to be touched which the staff was helpful here pointing out which exact giraffes would allow you to do what......we truly loved this experience and want to come back just for it! Love this park, it's a definite go! read more

I loved this zoo! It's not too big and not too small! Please bring your bug spray! We got several bug bites (sand flies) while here. I felt that this zoo felt for intimate because of its size. It's very immersive as you're literally in the Florida "jungle" with all the trees and ponds. They have military/veteran's discount of $5 off each ticket. For me and my son I spent $50 to get in and another $20 to buy 10 pieces of lettuce to feed the giraffes. We truly enjoyed feeding the giraffes! We took photos in their Photo Booth as well! Saw lions, bears, moneys, birds and an alligator. We saw a lot! We will definitely return when the weather cools down! They do have misting stations where you can cool down from the heat. There is a gift shop as well! Overall, a wonderful experience! read more

What a great zoo and perfect place to enjoy your day! As an early Mother's Day present, I purchased tickets for the zoo. We visited on a Sunday right when they opened at 9:30am. There was plenty of parking, and the pre-purchased tickets were quickly scanned at the entrance. The zoo is laid out nicely with each area forming a loop, so you never miss an exhibit. There were many animal feeding areas that I partaked in, such as feeding the giraffes, kangaroos, and 2 bird feeding areas. Also, I rode the train while in the zoo. The train is $4 per adult. It is fairly short, though. We are lunch in the back of the zoo and thought the food was tasty, hot, and fairly priced. We loved how well cared for the animals were here. Each animal exhibit had plenty of food, mind stimulating games, and interactive parts of their enclosures. There are also boxes or homes for the animals should they wish to have privacy and not be at the forefront. I can't wait to visit again once the lion enclosure remodel is complete! read more

This zoo is a 5 star zoo! There are so many volunteers that make the experience worthwhile, from helping with animal encounters to giving information on exhibits, you can tell they enjoy being there. I was impressed at the amount of exhibits that allow you to be up close and personal with the animals. There was a kangaroo walk through, bird enclosure, and giraffe feeding experience to just name a few. You can kayak through this zoo and get even closer to nature! Having a huge zoo in my hometown, I was blown away that the animal enclosures were so authentic and allowed for them to move around in many ways and directions. There is foliage and landscaping everywhere it is truly an immersive experience. My only suggestion would be to have more bathrooms available. You basically have to leave your exhibit and go back to the front of the zoo to use the restroom. However, my main reason for writing this review is that there was a handicap changing table in the women's restroom. I have a special needs son who is too big for the baby changing tables and I almost cried when I saw that I had an accessible place to help change him. Way to go Brevard Zoo! read more

This is a quant zoo on the small/medium size (with larger areas, being added) the set up is fantastic with so many interactive areas such as feeding giraffes or kangaroos, or even birds. So many of the animal areas also allow them to intermingle like they would in the wild. Everyone was friendly and the volunteers in every section were great and knew so much abt the animal they volunteered with. I had a great time and really enjoyed my visit. read more
