But, I'm not writing a review of a DMV, I'm writing a review of my lunch at Smash. Those DMV ladies wanted to know where we ate and they agreed, these are the best burgers for a 1000 miles around. I had the mushroom swiss, my son had the regular smash. Deceptively HUGE sandwiches on buttered buns, cooked just right, and seasoned! Fries were tasty. We got there a bit earlier than lunch and didn't question it being empty on a Wednesday, but then we watched the place fill up. People were talking until food arrived and then it was just quiet. That tells you a lot. Can't talk while you're eating. Then I had them pack up all three dessert choices in the display because we could not decide. Chocolate cake, Nutella cheesecake and lemon cheesecake. We drove the two hours home and then sampled...I got one bite of the Nutella and then my son stole it! The husband snarfed the chocolate cake and I hid the lemon from both of them. Waitstaff friendly, workin' hard. Happy to tip.

Understandable as Ely is remote and I know it can be hard to get supplies. Good place to stop by and also check out the casino!
