HomeTrust Bank

HomeTrust Bank

Unfortunately, Chase Bank does not exist in North Carolina. They are building locations and I can't…read morewait for them to open! I needed to take care of something today. I needed a cash advance on a credit card. Something I don't like to do, but I needed to get cash for a purchase. I'm in Arden and I googled bank banks and home trust came up on my way home. When I came in, there were 2 tellers, one was helping someone through the drive-through and the other teller was at her counter. I asked if she could do a cash advance. She said yes, and then she called her manager and asked how to do it. After she charged my card and handed my receipt, she told me that she had to give me a check, not cash because I don't have an account there. I went from nice to being very upset. And yes, I became an angry customer. I asked why she processed the cash advance if she couldn't give me cash. Then she explained that she could write me a check that they would then cash and then I would get my cash to leave the bank. Her manager wasn't in the bank, but she showed up during this transaction period and tried to help her through it. During this time, another manager came over. So now I've got 3 people trying to create a check that they were then going to have me sign over to cash. Talk about ridiculous. If I wanted a local bank, I would definitely not get an account at this bank. It shouldn't take 3 people, one teller and 2 managers, to process this cash advance. Or they simply could've told me when I came in the door 'no we can't take care of this.'

I have banked with HomeTrust since 1997, I get good service and friendly people to deal with. Who…read morecould ask for any more? I usually deal with the bank down town, and they are super nice .

H&R Block

H&R Block

Do not recommend doing your taxes here unless you want to never hear back and wait 45+ minutes even…read morewith an appointment time.

I used the H&R Block free military version of their online tax prep. I have a very easy return,…read morebut the software is so bad, that I needed advice so I called the support number. They told me that they don't offer any advice if I have been retired for more than a year. I have. The software gives you a reference number called a BolckCare number so their advisor can better help you with where you are in the app. So I called the closest office in Asheville NC. The kid on the phone was about useless. He asked for my name 4 times, tried to send me an email that never came through and then asked me for my SSN 3 times before he got it right. I don't stutter. He put me on hold and consulted with someone and told me I would have to pay the full filing fee. I said fine, please make me ant appointment. He eventually sent me an email and text, that is supposed to prompt you to take pictures of your tax document to upload to them. There are absolutely no instructions beside the picture of a camera. Instead. I scanned a copy of my docs for myself and took them the originals. He made me an appointment for this evening at 5:30. I show up promptly at 5:30, and ask the girl at the desk if I should provide the BlockCare Number. She said that it is a totally different system and they will have to recreate everything. Then she goes to tell the advisor that I am there. It is Dilbertville in a strip mall. I hear them whispering and then they proceed to go to the back to talk further for a few minutes. He comes out to his cube and avoids eye contact. She comes out and says "he will be a couple minutes as he cleans off his desk". He knew he had an appointment. At that point, the warning bells were just screaming. I told her I was going somewhere else and left. I have now read several of these same horrific reviews about many of their offices. I would highly advise to avoid H&R Block software and their offices.
