My 4 year old daughter kept having unpredictable fevers, stomach pain, joint pain, and being lethargic for several weeks. Initially I assumed it was also the same viral infection we had all had at home, so just cared for her at home. Because her symptoms were not going away, and she had a stiff neck and was excessively lethargic and moody, we saw her regular pediatrician in Seattle, who said she had an ear infection, and put her on antibiotics. Symptoms not going away and us traveling to San Diego for the Holidays, I took her again to the weekend after hour clinic, where they said ear infection was clear, and "some kids just take longer fighting the virus and the fever hangs around longer".
I live in Seattle, WA, but most of my family lives in San Diego, so after arriving, daughter's fever gets worse, joints get swollen and she gets a rash. My sister in law recommends her pediatrician, Dr. Breslow, so we go see him. No problems with the insurance (coming from different state), friendly staff, quick appointment. Dr Breslow comes in, attentively listens to all of the symptoms, is super gentle and caring both with patient and her parents, answers our questions, and promptly and accurately gives us a diagnosis of Henoch Schonlein Purpura. He quickly orders all the labs to be run ASAP, gives me information in the remote case it is not that, so we could follow up with a pediatric reumathologist right away. Not only that, but after the diagnosis gets confirmed by the lab tests, he calls multiple times to follow up with us about my daughter's symptoms and progress, even very close to Christmas.
I can't say enough about how satisfied we are with the whole experience. Dr. Breslow is very caring and knowledgeable, and a very down to earth doctor, friendly and what is most important, precise on his evaluation/diagnoses. We are now to follow up with our pediatrician and possibly with a specialist in Seattle, but we will be eternally grateful with Dr. Breslow. If I lived in San Diego, 100% sure he would be my children's doctor :) read more
