My son had a great experience and amazing cut from Brenton! Such a cool place with a great vibe... Thank you! read more

20/5 Brenton is the nicest, most courteous, professional barber. He gives you exactly what you want and takes time and care to get it perfect. He gave my husband his best haircut ever right before our wedding ceremony. It was easy to make the reservation online, and in the comment section my husband put that it was for our wedding, and sure enough Brenton gave him congrats when he walked in. It feels nice to know that he takes the time to get to know and care for his customers. You can consider us a regular client now! This is the best barber in town. Brenton's shop is easy to find and very clean. He has 15 years of experience cutting hair and is passionate about what he does. Go to Brenton's! read more

Excellent haircut from Tanner. Always does a great job. Call him!! I cannot think of anything else to say!

My son gets his cuts by Tanner. He does a fantastic job every time. The shop is always immaculately clean. I love that he has early morning hours (8am), including on the weekend. read more

Best haircut I've ever had. Brenton is very skilled and takes his time. The vibe in the shop is chill and relaxing. I went in with some very loose interpretations of wanting my "old haircut back" and he nailed it 10/10. I have difficult, thick, coarse, short hair....and he exceeded my expectations. He's a chill, easy, super polite guy too. This is definitely my new spot. And, I love being able to book online! Thanks Brenton! I'll be back! read more

Got a great cut from Tanner. Hair was a mess before, dude did me right. Good shop. Definitely going back

Cool little shop! I just moved here, so I don't have experience with the shop in years past. Currently, it's a one-man shop. Scheduled my appointment online same day and was seen within minutes of showing up. Brenton was cool and personal. Didn't talk too little or too much. I got a side part with tapered sides and back. He finished up the neckline with a straight razor. I loved the vibe of the little place and the stocked bookshelf. Will be coming back for sure. read more

Disappointed here. Dropped in to get a boys haircut for my son. $33 bucks. Also one TV and barber doesn't care if your watching it-he'll merrily switch Chanel's to his own fav team even if your game is on OT. Too pricey A quick follow up; yes we did not do the $33 haircut as pricing and first impressions just discouraged it. This fellow I'm sure is a fine barber but our first impressions made sure and we'll never know. Apparently customers for this shop are snapping him up. If your trying to do a youth haircut try Oakview. 17$ and a great barber. read more

Booked 3 weeks in advance, get there, ask for a trim about 1.5 inches. Get this haircut that is nothing like i asked, just because i couldnt see myself in the mirror the whole time. Paid 60$ with tip. whole haircut lasts 20 minutes 1:00 appointment get out at 1:20. get home and give myself a buzzcut. Really sucks that I wasted 60$ on a haircut(at a 1$ per 20 second rate!!) that I buzzed off immediately after, especially because I usually get 20$ haircuts read more

I don't belong in a place like this, but my husband was really scruffy and there's a wedding this weekend where he'll be seeing all his old high school friends. I had to make sure he looked sharp, so I went in to help tell how his hair should look. The way the barber took care of him- he looks like a really sexy villain in an action movie. I've never been more in love with this man's face! Also while I was waiting a high school boy came in. I teach high school so I know how goddamned picky those kids are with their hair. Says something good about the barber when everyone from old men to teens goes in! read more

Brenton is a very friendly and talented barber. Always happy with his cut. The shop is a cool throwback to the barbershops of the 50s and 60s. Note: Brenton should have five stars. All of the negatives are from before he took over. read more

A pleasant fellow and a competent hair cut. But he has priced me out of the business. $41 with a "senior discount " just left me behind

Hello Brenton, I appreciate your offer, but I am not going to take advantage of YOU or YOUR services because the owner, Duane lacks business savvy and common courtesy. No offense to you, but Duane set the tone for your shop and now he is just going to have to deal with the consequences of his actions. read more

Just got my first cut here & i highly recommend it! Brenton listened to what I wanted & paid attention to detail in the cut. Very satisfied!

Brenton's is fantastic! I have been getting my hair cut here for a while now. Not only are the cuts good, prices fair, but the atmosphere and vibe are excellent. Stop in and give him a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I've had my hair cut and styled everywhere, from New York to London and Brenton is a jewel. Articulate, caring, skilled and creative. So glad to have found this hair sanctuary in Ojai. Thank you, Brenton, very much, from Richard La Plante read more

Brenton takes the time to listen to what you are looking for and takes his time to make sure it's done right. Great atmosphere.

Great spot!! I've had a few bad experiences in Ventura so I drove out to Ojai to check it out. I didn't know I needed an appointment but Brenton was able to fit me me in even though he said he was booked for the day....pretty cool if you ask me! He was quick, professional, and good. I will be going back and would highly recommend this barber shop to anyone out there looking for a new one to try... read more

Brenton is by far the best barber in Ventura County! Seriously I have had my hair cut by the rest and they don't even come close to Brenton. Brenton uses techniques only known to Master Barbers similar to Schorem / Reuzul in Europe. My haircuts look good for months if I go that long he's that good! It's usually just him in the shop 2 really cool chairs. The other barber who works there I have never met so I can't rate his work, Brenton is an 11 on a 1 to 10 and gives 110% every time! Don't hesitate to go online and book! The contact phone number on google page doesn't work because it was hacked so the phone number changes randomly on a Google Search! Go onto his website https://www.brentonsojai.com fill out the form with your credit card to save the appointment and it's easy to reschedule if you need to! Don't worry your credit card doesn't get charged, I was concerned about that too never a problem! I have given very few reviews on Yelp if that tells you anything. I care a lot about my hair and so does Brenton! Brenton Thank You for always giving me an awesome haircut, you're the best! I'll post a before and after on Monday when I go back, I have been there 6 times now Brenton needs no direction you'll be in the best hands! read more

I've had a couple great haircuts at Montgomery's in the past few months since I moved to Ojai, so it's about time I left a review. The shop is small and warm, the barber Brenton is the cool friend you always wish you had, and most important of all the haircuts were top-notch; Brenton knew just what I wanted and for a week after I got my cuts I felt like I was an inch taller. Great small touches like football streaming on a laptop, and that warm shave at the end. Highly recommended. read more

Great haircut, easy walk in service, a real and authentic barbara shop experience! I have been twice now and will continue to return.

Went for a quick haircut. Butler did a good job. No wait. Quiet, small shop. Will be back

Duane Montgomery has been giving me great haircuts for more years than I can remember. Also his father used to cut my hair. His little shop is relaxed and he sells all kinds of stuff like old school razors. I highly recommend him. Make your appointment today. read more

Brenton's Barber shop is the kind of place you would just hang out in even if you weren't getting a haircut. Good music, or maybe a movie, great art on the walls! He always works hard to fit me in, always gives me the exact cut I want. And he seems to be able to read my mood. If I want to kick back, relax and have a shave he lets me enjoy my time. If I feel like a social outing he is happy to talk. I love this place read more

I didn't get a haircut here so I can't judge the stylist's skill. I was staying nearby and badly needed a haircut so I spent $10 and took a cab here. I walked in waiting to expect my turn but was informed that this was appointment only. Where I come from, a barber shop implies a show up and wait informality. I spent another $10 getting home, so $20 total and no haircut. All you yelpers (and Mr Brenton), please don't call this an old school barbershop. read more

The new barber, Brenton, is great. You can get an "old school" haircut from a new school barber.

Did great job with my 2 teenage boys. Gave them cuts they loved and took us last min on a Sunday. We'll definitely be back.

It is a pleasure to review Montgomery's barber shop. In fact, I joined Yelp just so that I could do so. Duane Montgomery is THE barber in town - he has been here for decades and has such a loyal and committed clientele that he is a fixture here in Ojai. He is kind, self-effacing, professional, and extraordinarily talented. His recent addition of Brenton was a fantastic idea - Brenton is young, hip, and also a brilliant barber. Brenton is available for appointments AND walk-ins, and I can text him to see how busy he is. My boys love going to Montgomery's and receive excellent cuts every time. If I could give six stars to them both, I would. read more

It's not often that i find myself in Ojai and yet there i was on businesses and in dire need of a legitimate haircut. I'm pretty picky when it comes to my hair so I walked into the shop with a bit of hesitation... I walked out not only better looking but a better man. The experience at Brenton's is what all these "old school" barbershops are trying to fake.... except that this isn't fake, it's the real deal. An honest to goodness barbershop, a solid haircut and a great conversation. I'm not a beer drinker, but when they offered me an ice cold glass bottle coca cola I knew I'd stumbled on to something special. read more

Brenton is an awesome barber!! Husband has been going to him for a couple years now, and absolutely REFUSES to go elsewhere! Perfect cuts and even went "old school" last time and used a straight edge to clean up his neck! Definitely recommend Brentons!! read more

I had the pleasure of visiting Montgomery's barbershop with a guy friend of mine. Although I myself didn't get a haircut I was so impressed with how my friend's hair turned out that I had to write a review for him. He looked strikingly more attractive after his haircut because you could actually see his handsome face through his facial hair. Montgomery's is such a rarity in itself. It has the old time feeling of what is was probably like to get your hair cut 50 years ago where you feel like your barber is your best friend, confidant and therapist, haha. The football game was playing, kids toys were out for kids who came in with their dad. It felt like I was welcomed into someone's home like an old friend. Butler gave the haircut and he is really invested in the business and the satisfaction of his clients. He thinks of all the little things that make people feel comfortable. If you're in town or visiting from out of town this should be your number one choice for a hair cut. Definitely give Montgomery's a try, you won't be disappointed! read more
