If you're looking to have a little fun in the sun without sitting in miles and miles of traffic Breezy Point Beach and Campground is your go-to! Located about an hour away from DC, it is a low key spot that is perfect for young families. There are picnic tables and grills, a playground, sand, and swimming area (netted off so you don't even have to worry about jellyfish). The water can be clear or not depending on the weather but I found it to be refreshing and enjoyable for what it's worth. This area is located near the Calvert Cliffs area so there is also lots of shark teeth to be found. If you go in with low expectations, you will be pleasantly surprised. The beach is (mostly) clean and pretty quiet except the sounds of families having some good old-fashioned fun. There is an area to use the bathroom, wash away sand and they even have a little concession stand for snacks like nachos and ice cream. It's first come, first served so come early in the morning and be home by nap time! It can't get any better than that. read more

This was my first time camping on the beach. Overall it wasn't bad. My kids enjoyed it! Each site has water and electricity which is awesome. The pier is long, its nice for a romantic walk at night. Crabbing and fish paid off for many. Remember its the bay. Pre-Covid19 I would have given them 5 stars. I would like to give them 3.5 stars. Here is why: The campsites are very close together. My neighbors were probably exactly 6ft away. Yes this is standard requirement for Covid but how often are you looking at a person thinking that cant be 6ft. This the design of the lot. I just would have liked more privacy. If your looking for seclusion this is not it. I could look into my neighbors camper. The set up of the fire ring was way to close to our tent so we had to physically move it...not fun. The bathroom was nice but I have 2 complaints. They did clean the restrooms, I wish it was more often. The shower set up is less then desirable. There are only 2 showers. No doors curtains. You go thru the first curtain and there is the 1st shower, with another curtain to the left. The curtain does give you privacy and your clothes are left on the opposite side where the next person walks thru to get to shower number 2. The showers need to be redone. The 2nd one has better water pressure. The office staff is very professional and helpful. I loved the key card access at night, I felt safe. * The firewood is cheaper at the local store. * This beach has Smack aka many jellyfish * If you don't dispose of your trash, large vulture will eat it. read more

Love this Campground! Beach is small but if you want to skip the hours of sitting in traffic to put your toes in the sand, Breezy Point is it. My girlfriends and I came for a girls trip. We stayed at a friends camper in the Campground. All of the lots have running water, which is a plus. Conveniently the bath house was straight across from our camper. The 6 of us felt very safe at night walking the grounds. All of the other campers were extremely friendly. Campers rent their lots on a 6 months per year. For campers on the beach, the cost is $3000 a season. Beachfront is a lot of fun! Walk out your door onto the sand. Summer fun! read more

So beautiful, peaceful, calm beach. Not too much people, with no waves, clean water, picnic areas, restrooms and public showers. We payed 36$ total for 3 adults. Stayed one night on the campgrounds. Overall, had a great time, but it's really what you make it. The beach isn't the best, nor is the water - but the way it's set up made for a nice night. Lots of RVs, and all the people were very nice. The bathrooms leave A LOT to be desired, and were pretty gross in general. However, i assume they are cleaned daily, as they were cleaning when we were leaving. So that's something. Brought a tent and originally set it up against the rail on our site, but on the beach side. Couldn't understand why no one else was set up on the beach - until later that evening when the winds started picking up (hence breezy point). The stakes didn't hold in the sand, and we were glad not to lose the tent. Lol. Moved on the inside of the rail, and tied it down the rail, and picnic table. That did the trick, and had no problems after that. We brought a propane portable grill, which was great - but didn't take advantage of the fire pits available. Next time we will. Need to bring or find your own wood. We happened to go on a day/night with perfect weather, so that certainly helped to make the experience nicer. read more

Yeah this really is a "Dang I want to go to the beach but I don't want to drive far" joint. I first came here with some acquaintances over summer and it was crowded, a bit dirty, and the water looked a little sus, but it really was the "beach experience". Only a little over an hour away from NOVA, this beach makes for a perfect little day trip. The bay offers all kinds of activities like paddling and boating. They also have picnic areas where people had tents and barbeques. If you want food, they have a great shack with cheap snacks and treats which is nice for a mid-day break. It's a really small bay so you'll want to get there at a decent time to lay out, but otherwise, it's perfect for what it is! read more

I watched every single adult and child enter the netted water area and every single one was stung. Water also had that lovely petroleum layer on top. If you have zero desire to swim, nice area. This is a great day trip if you live in northern Virginia. My family has been coming here for years, and always enjoy finding lots of fossil shark teeth, wood, and ray dental plates, as well as the convenience of flush-toilets instead of porta-potties. I feel like it used to be much cheaper to get in--somewhere around $6 per car instead of per person--and I do feel like they should replace the swimming nets if they are going to charge that much. However, the jellyfish are not large, and even if you happen to run into one it isn't a huge deal, just keep an eye out and bring some baking soda. The beach is clean, aside from the occasional dead fish. Nice shady picnic area with some grills as well. One time we saw a herd of rays swimming offshore, which was super cool. If you're looking to get away to the beach without the hassle of traffic to VA Beach or OC, this isn't a bad place at all! read more

We have been visiting Breezy Point and we love it. George and all the staff are great. You can do a beach day or camp. (Get reservations early in the year, they go fast!). However there are some things worth mentioning. 1. The beach to the right of the pier is for people paying the camp fee ONLY. If you do not have a camp pass and key you are trespassing. If you want to stay in the right side beach PAY the $50.00 and do not bother the people who is actually paying to stay (and more than likely made reservations MONTHS in advance). If I personally see anyone who is not camping I let the management know. Management can get a little better by enforcing this. 2. Alcohol is tolerated. That said if you act a fool and harass other campers/beach goers just FYI a sheriff is on site to prevent people disturbing the peace. 3. If you are camping quiet times are after 11pm. People want their rest. If you do not obey the ordinance, the Sheriff will give you a ticket. This is a beautiful family beach not a all night long club. Be respectful. 4. Get there early. If you want a good spot on the paying beach (not camp) you need to get there around 6-7 am (a spot with a table and a grill). Cash only- 10 dollars a person.\ We love Breezy Point and will be back to see George and the crew, they are the best! The Beach is beautiful and clean and they have a net for jellyfish. read more

We were in for maybe 30 minutes trying to find a place in the shade because we were there with 4 kids, the youngest 2 years old. We couldn't find any spot, so we decided to leave. I asked for a refund, and I was told that there's no refund. I said that that's not fair( their brochure is mentioning that only the reservation fee is not refundable), and I don't understand why is not possible to refund me,since they take only cash. I was insisting to give me my receipt, and the police officer pushed me to leave to my car, and he also said that he can bend me.I was outside their property when he did that. The gatekeeper brought me somebody's receipt with 6:45 am imprinted on it and I left. So, this was my experience at Breezy Point. I am living in this country for about 20 years, I am a citizen but nobody told me to leave because Americans don't like us in here. Shame on you, gatekeeper, shame on you police officer Bacovski!!!! So we went here hoping for a beach day... Now, I should mention were from San Diego, home to some of the worlds best and most beautiful beaches so we were disappointed. The beach was a good size, but the water was murky and didn't seem very clean. Also, I didn't like how they charge 6 per person. If they charge, they should at least keep the beach better maintained. Nice small beach. You MUST arrive early!!! They open at 6 on the weekends and when I say it fills up fast I mean it! It's $10 a person to enter. You can get a little grill to use and there are trash cans all over. This beach doesn't do like ocean city and have a beach cleaner so it's not the most nostalgic beautiful ones but it's taken care of. I saw a review of someone saying they are Racist and THATS A LIE! If you arrive late and expect to get a nice spot on the beach that's not gonna happen and once you enter you don't get a refund because you don't see any spots you like. They close the beach when there are too many ppl so if you get in there's a spot somewhere. Also for our party we arrived at 11 and the beach was FULL of Hispanic ppl. I'm from Spain and my husband is black and ALL OF THE STAFF AND POLICE were nice and respectful to everyone. I came the year before and had no issues either. We rolled in here to check out the pier and fossil collecting. The pier isn't too big, but the fishermen who were on it said the rocks were biting. We found lots of small teeth and several larger bones. The bathrooms were clean. It is expensive to come here (more than Flag or Brownies). I don't think we'll be back as the fishing is better at Flag and the collecting is awesome at Brownies. read more

Small beach with a great entrance price ($6). The sand is clean and there is a net that keeps the fisherman and boats out of the swimming area. There are clean bathrooms and a nice picnic area. Honestly, I'm pretty surprised by the negative yelp reviews. We visited the beach for the first time last weekend (on a Sunday) and were impressed that it hadn't filled up yet when we got there around 11 or 1130 (we like to go to Flag Ponds but it was full). There were a bunch of people hanging out in the shade who clearly got their early and planned to stay all day- hammocks hanging from the trees, grills firing, tables set- but there was plenty of room to set up in the sand. The jellyfish are mysteriously absent this year, but we still opted to swim in the netted area with our toddler, and she had a blast. There is a bathhouse and a concession stand (didn't go in the bath house but got some ice cream from the stand), which is nice. Honestly, we really had not complaints. For a bay beach and a family with little kids, it's pretty nice! read more

Great beach! Wasn't crowded at all when we arrived on a Friday at 4PM. The water wasn't amazing, but it works! It is extremely great for kids! They have a jellyfish net to keep them away, however my family and I saw a baby jellyfish. Not an issue as long as there is no encounter. All in all, nice quick getaway spot. Don't waste your time or money unless you enjoy a cliff and smelly porta potties. Smell is so bad that my 8 year-old daughter refused to use it and pleaded to leave the beach immediately. We were there for 25 mins only to convince my daughter to stay although she was right to leave the premise. I admit, I made a mistake not asking for a refund. I didn't know that I could've until the receptionist at the office informed me that I should have asked right then since I stayed less than 30 minutes. I called management. I drove 1.5 hours just to go to this beach. When I arrived I was told it was cash only to park and swim. Unfortunately I only had three dollars and was told that the ATM machine in the general store up the street was out of cash. I tried to buy something at both a bait and tackle shop and the general store and get some cash but was told curtly 'no'. I even approached a family on a boat at the marina next door explaining my situation and asked them if they could find it in their hearts to give me seven dollars. Their response was an firm and unfriendly 'absolutely not'. I was extremely saddened by and frustrated with the lack of hospitality I received. If this is supposed to be a tourist destination whomever is in charge is not doing a very good job. It's 103 degrees. Real feel much higher. I drove an hour and a half there. Found a cop blocking the entrance. Despite visible open spots in the lot, we were turned away. Then scolded as we tried to street park. So I went to another street nearby and parked. Toted hot, excited to hit the beach three-year-olds with me. Get to the gate and am told by a 10 year old employee that they do not permit "walk ins." I asked, as my kids wilted (literally) next to me if she was serious. Do. Not. Bother. Went up to North Beach. Still busy but even with a festival happening we found parking and easily entered the beach. Breezy Point sucks. read more

We camped here in the fall. This was a great quick camping trip from the Washington DC area. The sites are small and the privacy factor is zero--different from camping in wooded campgrounds. But every campsite faces the beach. We were able to watch the sun rise from our tent. The view is fabulous. There is a fishing pier adjacent to the campground, and many campers took advantage of that as well. We found some sharks teeth/fossils on the beach as well. Every site has electric. There are half-barrels to use as firepits. Most of the campground is taken up by folks with seasonal sites--it was interesting to walk down that way and see what people had set up. There is a small store in the marina next to the campground that sells ice and necessities, but we had to go drive to buy some firewood. Overall, it's not the greatest campground, but to be able to camp right on the beach and be so close to home is a combination that cannot be beat. read more
