My daughter attended two different dance studios in the past but this is the only facility that my daughter has enjoyed. Her teacher ms. Alexis is awesome and my daughter loves her classes. They just had their recital and it was amazing!!! Last year I was a back stage mom but this year I decided to sit in the audience and watch, my daughter had two numbers. after the first one I was able to go and sit with her and wait for the second number. Ms. Geena is so nice and helpful and great with the kids. I can't say enough about this school the classes are by far more professional than any other school we have been to. Mrs. Lisa is also amazing always very attentive and very warm, the numbers that she choreographed were amazing. I have recommended this school to others at my daughter's school and we will definitely be going back this fall and my daughter can't wait to start her new classes with ms. An exciting display of opera and baroque accompanied by a bit of U2, Cream, The Who and Emminen. We were treated to a musical fusion with classics from Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Delibes, von Flotow, Bizet, Purcell, and Leoncavallo. Wearing rock n roll t's and embossed shirts, the french and italian songs were belted out with much ado and bravado. There were also duets that went along with the keyboard, guitars, bass, drums, violins and cello. Reminiscent of the fabulous Freddie Mercury and Queen, I kept wishing that they would cut loose, and really go crazy. Mostly, they didn't and keep within defined boundaries. Two male vocalists, the main Tyley Ross had an amazing range, funny that he was wearing skin tight black leather pants. The other male vocalist / arranger, Peter Kiesewalter did some rapping. Also a female vocalist, she was called in when the original lost her voice. I couldn't stop thinking about Freddie Mercury, atlas they did not perform one of his songs. From their web site, the music "embraces the pomposity of rock and the pomposity of opera." Five stars for the dramatic melding of european opera with some familiar, nazzy violin and guitar riffs. My favorite song for the night was Verdi's famous, La donna mobile. Thank you, Shauna!

I've been taking lessons with Stephen Hund who teaches rock, jazz ect. drumming for the past eight…read moremonths or so. I had no prior experience with drums but decided it was just something I wanted to do. Stephen is a great teacher. Very patient and passionate about the learning experience. I was surprised to find how many other people had also chosen to take up drumming later in life. Lots of adult students and of course he teaches kids as well. The best part...you get to play with a band. Every spring and fall he puts on a show at Arlene's Grocery downtown. It's basically a recital and you get to play one or two songs with a full band in front of a real audience. Some students have there own bands but the rest play with the band Stephen pulls together. I played my first show last fall and it was soooo much fun. I'll be performing again in June. You can check out past shows on youtube by typing in Stephen Hund. Anyway...I love the drums and always come away from a lesson feeling a little bit lighter.

Stephen and Danny clearly possess extensive knowledge and experience to make me the little drummer boy I long to be, but more importantly they are inspiring, patient and highly effective as instructors. I did extensive research prior to starting and you would be hard pressed to find a better experience than Manhattan Drum Studios.

Today we attended a performance of "Superhero" (the last performance will be tomorrow) and it was performed at The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture. The play (an autobiographical story) was really outstanding and very compelling. The playwright, the actors & the theater company's artistic director gave a talk afterwards and that was a very special opportunity.
