Beautiful lights. Here's the deal....the lights are beautiful. My issue is their exchange policy. When you're in the store, everything is lit up is so you can't see how much light a fixture emits or how it lights up, because it's so bright in there. We ordered three lights back in May (I think) and they were just installed. They were installed with no issue and the two gentlemen did a great job. I have no complaints or issues to write about. Once it finally got dark and we turned on the kitchen light, we realized we didn't like it. I called and asked if we could exchange it for a different one and was told "because wires had been cut and it's already mounted on the ceiling, it can't be returned." That is a stark contrast to what the sales associate told me. She said we could return it. I'm really annoyed at the whole situation. So I'll leave you with this, find out the return/exchange policy BEFORE installation. If the policy is awful like theirs and you still want to purchase from them, while in the showroom, ask them to turn off all the lights in the area so you can see what the light looks like. I'm pretty bummed because I enjoyed looking at the lights and have made many purchases over the years here. I think I'll take my money elsewhere. I'm sure it's no skin off their backs, but now I have a light I don't want to even turn on. Also, price check before purchasing. I found two lights cheaper elsewhere shortly after purchasing. This store is heaven! Wendy was a great help in assisting us to pick out lighting for our dining room, entrance hall and hallway. She understood our taste and just what we wanted. We will be returning for bathroom fixtures and a ceiling fan. The installers who hung the entry light on our 18 foot ceiling were the best. For the past 5 years (since we've lived in louisville), my husband always points and yells "we need to stop in there!" everytime we pass Brechers. Everytime. He's more of a window shopper as I like to go into places where if I like it, I can purchase it. Long story short, we bought a house and actually have a need to check this place out. And as we almost pass the place again, he points towards the lights and I nod my head in agreement. Here we go. Upon entering, I noticed how uncomfortable it would be for anyone taller than 6 feet to navigate through this gorgeous store. I even had to duck a few times. There were a few people there checking out the fixtures. They had chandeliers, fans, mirrors, etc of all styles and prices. and here's a tip: each light can be turned on by pulling the cord next to it! just make sure to turn it back off because I'm sure their light bill is high enough as it is. Someone offered to help us but we explained how we were just scoping the place out and she let us browse as long as we wanted. That's when she mentioned the tip about the light switches. Anyway, I'm glad we stopped in to check out all the pretty lights. There's soooo much to choose from! read more

Customer service is terrible from sales (Donna) after something is ordered and paid for she is very rude.

This business has a wonderful showroom with fixtures gallore. For weeks on end we stopped in here trying to make decisions for every room in our house. My son and daughter were guided that they each needed to pick out an overhead light fixture for their bedroom and an over the mirror light fixture for their bathroom. Each of them picked out one that was of their personal taste. As for my husband and I we debated on an entry way chandellier, a more conservative chandellier for over the formal dining table, sconces for the hall way, ceiling fans and lights for the familyroom, guest bedroom, and masterbedroom. Then came the hours of debating on outdoor lighting. Lighting for the front of the house, appropriate lighting for the arched entry, a pole lamp to greet visitors, driveway lighting, backdeck lighting. You name it, Brecher Lighting Co had it. The showroom was set up nicely with individual scenes that featured a setting with lights. We spent way too many hours visiting this showroom but we're happy with the fixtures that we chose. read more

I visited this store to get a new light for my dining room. I was able to browse without being pounced on, which I love. I found a style I loved in a much bigger size than I need. Turns out, pretty much all of their fixtures come in multiple sizes! I had two smaller sizes to choose from, in a variety of finishes. The price for the item I chose was reasonable, and the associate who helped me also suggested lightbulbs to go with it. They were an inexpensive add-on, so I picked up the bulbs as well. The fixture I wanted was in stock, so it was brought out from the back for me to take home today. The whole process was painless, and the associate I worked with was incredibly nice and helpful. Not sure when I'll need another light fixture, but when I do I'll definitely be back! read more

My wife and I went in to look at lights for our newly constructed house. Emily walked us through all of our options and was able to use her design background to guid us in the right direction. I was amazed at the selection (I can't imagine having more options than what is in there showroom). Had a wonderful experience at Brechers. They were having their annual sidewalk sale and even though their was a large crowd, I received wonderful customer service. The store owner gave me advice on what kind of lighting would work best for me and was clearly very knowledgeable about the products. I will definitely be back again! If your goal is to be pretentious, bordering on rude...well, mission accomplished. My wife and I walked in today (Saturday afternoon) to look at options to replace old track lighting. We had questions and did not know where to start. The blond employee was aloof and her body language and actual responses made sure I felt stupid. None the less, I we asked our questions so we could be sure and do our homework on this project. Her smarmy arrogant nature did not improve. As you can imagine, we left. And I won't step inside that business again. Next was Alcott & Bentley on Bardstown Road. Completely opposite experience there with Samantha. Very friendly! Very helpful! Very informative! Second time we have been in here and no one has bothered to help us. The blonde woman actually rolled eyes when I looked at her and let out a huge sigh. Very snotty looks from all workers and just rudely walked by like we were in the way. Ummm you are a lighting company sales associate that sells lights why are you snotty? You cant be making that much money to walk around so aloof and rude. Overall just a really uncomfortable place to walk into. Will take my business to the lighting store others mentioned. I've been there on 4 separate occasions and not once has anyone greeted me, asked if I need help or at least say someone will be right with me. Today 2 sales people passed me and not one word, Wow. I did have my jeans and a nice shirt on. but I guess you need to look like you have a lot of money or they are not going to waste their time with you. I have tried to purchase from this company four times in the the past two years. Trying to get someone to help or purchase a light is impossible. The employees either rudely ignore me or state they will be with me shortly, then never return. They ignore you at the desk as well. I love their quality products and inventory, but the staff are useless. Finally took my business to Bentley and Abbott in the Highlands. They are so customer friendly and carry the same products. They put the wrong bulbs inside a light fixture even after we repeatedly told them something was wrong... This bulb left singe marks on the fixture and wall, and then they didn't stand behind their installation. They also stood on my newly glued granite countertop (I witnessed it myself) and when confronted denied the claim. read more
