Anyone who knows me, knows I am not a fitness buff. I can't even touch my toes. I'm tall, I'm kinda gangly and I'm a bit... unco.
So I went to a reformer Pilates class. Because of course. That'll be good, right? Well, actually it was.
So it seems reformer Pilates is something I'm not too bad at. The beginners class we went to was good. Apparently it was busy (I think it was full) but it was calm. We walked in and paid ($25 for a one off class), dropped our stuff in the changing room and chose our machines.
The class was great. I was able to push myself as hard as I could, but it definitely wasn't too hard. We did a good mix of legs and arms and I felt completely relaxed.
I got the leg shakes about halfway through, but it's been a while since I've done any proper exercise. The teacher was calming and really great. I thought I'd feel a bit silly, but I was comfortable and felt really supported.
The next day I wasn't nearly as sore as I thought I'd be, but I went for a swim first thing to ease my muscles.
If I was in Melbourne full time, I'd love to go here regularly. read more
