It's hard for an outdoor party to go wrong when the weather is perfect and Dan G. seems to have mastered the elements for the past couple of Yelp events this summer!
After the success of the first garden party, the Lord Clifden teamed up with Yelp again for an event celebrating all things Brasil in line with the Rio Olympics. Yelp regulars were generously given free food and drink tickets for their choice of grilled food and tropical inspired drinks. The chefs at the Clifden served up some interesting kebabs over rice. I chose the vegetarian option, composed of halloumi and grilled veggies with rice and beans. I also went with the beer du jour, the Devassa tropical lager. It's actually brewed in Rio, and the first exposure I had to it was at Viva Brazil earlier in the year. There were also house made concoctions available as well with a granita-esque dessert rounding things out. Overall the food and drink had a light, tropical vibe perfect for the weather.
The party atmosphere was most accentuated by the excellent beats coming out over the sound system. For the first two hours or so Dan made sure some tunes centred on the party theme were cranking out loud, which was later joined with live bands, including round two for BearMusic. Even with the first garden party at the Lord Clifden going so well, this one somehow managed to surpass it in so many ways with a well-executed theme, great food and drink, and lovely music. Let's hope this series continues! read more
