We contracted Brookvale Flooring to sand, stain, and refinish our entire first floor and stairs…read more Our supposed "high end remodeling" contractor recommended them and as Brookvale Flooring had good reviews online, they were ultimately hired to do the floors/stair work for our house. They sent us a 2 men crew, which we realized later must have been their "B" or "C" team. They were inexperienced and/or just careless with their work. They appeared to be younger (age-wise) and one of them had long curly hair. I only mention this because that curly hair is now encased in polyurethane coating throughout the refinished wood areas around our home. There were multiple areas where the hardwood floors was missing stain and poly. Don't recommend.

He referred me to an artist who does trompe l'oeil work instead of coming to estimate the cost to replace the damaged area of floor and then to integrate that into the rest of the living floor. The artist's work took approximately a day and a half and as a result, this small area now looks like its part of the original floor. AGW Hardwood Floors was the first company I called to ask about this type of repair. What a find...Armand's my flooring guy forever! I look forward to working with him on any new projects I'll have in the future.

The Hardwood Guys installed floors in 80% of our house and refinished the rest. Aside from 3 dents…read morefrom oil cans in our brand new floor, we were very happy with the end result. Even now, we think they did an outstanding job laying new hardwood and sanding. However, 1 year later the floors were showing a lot of wear after supposedly using 3 coats of Duraseal oil based polyurethane. 4 years later we now have to refinish our floors. In multiple areas the color has completely worn away and in some other areas it's peeling. I even reached out to Duraseal to find out if this lack of durability is expected. They told me that it's possible if they didn't apply enough layers, didn't give it enough time to dry between layers, or applied it too thin or thick. Since we were not living at the house when the work was done we couldn't monitor this. Since they were sloppy enough to dent our new floor with cans, they could've been sloppy applying Duraseal. The companies coming in to quote us to refinish our floors are flabbergasted at the amount of wear in such a short period of time. Every vendor said it looks like they didn't apply enough coats. I'm not sure what the actual reasoning is. Hardwood Guys had competitive pricing. However, it cost us more in the long run. Now, we have to pay a second time, deal with dust, VOCs, and smell, in addition to being displaced with a young child to redo the work that should've been done properly in the first place.

We had wanted to do some upgrading of our own and contacted FHF to do our entire first floor: parlor, dining room, half bath, and large open kitchen family room area. We are talking about a 1000 square feet over all. The only area that had hardwood flooring originally was the foyer which we had them refinish. The floors look great. The crews were all completely professional and the project manager, Juliano, wants to make sure you are satisfied with the job. They ask for half of the cost up front with the remainder due when the job is complete and you are satisfied. You do have to live with a lot of inconvenience during the process. Primarily dust, a lot of dust, noise, and odor from the sealing. You need to move your smaller items out but their crew will remove your larger furniture pieces. Good time to have at least a two car garage. And they do put you large pieces back when finished. Overall this was well worth the money, time, and inconvenience.
