I came across this birth center very unexpectedly, and I truly believe God wanted me to be in the care of Jordan and Stephanie. During my first pregnancy, we took a class at Pure Birth near the end of my pregnancy and loved everything we learned--especially the importance of avoiding an epidural for both the mother and the baby. However, at the time, I didn't feel ready to have an unmedicated birth, so we chose a hospital birth for our first daughter. When I found out I was pregnant with our second, I knew deep down that I wanted the least amount of intervention possible--for both myself and my baby. I called what I thought was Pure Birth, and to my surprise, it was SCV birth center. Trusting that God always knows best, I followed that path, and I can honestly say He did not disappoint like always The center itself is smaller, which immediately made me feel safe, confident, and truly at home. Stephanie and Jordan are incredibly kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. They take the time to truly listen, to reassure you whenever needed, and to explain everything with such clarity and care. Every appointment felt easy, personal, and completely stress-free. The birth itself was absolutely perfect--I could honestly write an entirely separate review just about that experience alone. I cannot thank these two women enough for everything they did for me and my family. I wholeheartedly recommend SCV birth center to anyone seeking an unmedicated, empowering, and deeply supported birth experience.

If you are looking for the best birthing experience of your life, stop you have found your place…read more My daughter is now 6 months and I credit Renee, Andrea & our bonus midwife... for making my experience seamless and beautiful. I have soooooo much to say! For starters, you have a concierge health experience. Every appointment was met with intention yet an openness to answer any thing your heart desires. When you find women in birth work that are aligned with their life purpose you find an amazing environment. Renee and Andrea take the time to educate you! They allow you to make informed decisions without judgement or coercion. They even helped me find a birthing class and helped us find a fitting pediatrician. I plan on having more kids and I can't imagine giving birth any where else. One of my favorite memories, after delivering my daughter you come back for an appointment close to your 1 week mark. Ours happened to be day 4. They taught me how to sideline breastfeed. What a game changer!!! As a first time mom, I was incredibly grateful for the guidance. They actually took me to one of the delivery rooms and allowed me to nurse and practice in real time so I could ask questions. I know so many women who quit breastfeeding because no one took the time to give them the basics, encourage them or just let them understand that there would be moments it hurts but to hang in there. If you are debating on where to start your prenatal care, you are already in the right place, make the call! Trust me, one of the best decisions of my life! -Latoya Lyn & Baby Violet

I transferred my care from an OBGYN to Pure Births a little after I was 20 weeks pregnant and they helped me make sure all the paperwork was completed quickly and smoothly. I felt cared for and supported by everybody at Pure Births through each prenatal and postnatal appointment. I literally cannot imagine how I would have gotten through my pregnancy without them. They listened to my every little worry, reassured me that everything was okay, and encouraged my preference of wholistic care. Pure Births also works with a lactation consultant and a childbirth educator that provide classes at their facility to help you be prepare for when your baby comes - these classes were so informative and they helped me feel lees nervous about becoming a new mom and breastfeeding my baby. After…read moresome research, I found that there weren't any classes locally offered to new moms, other than at Henry Mayo Hospital. And of course, their classes were only offered once a month. Unfortunately, they didn't work with my schedule. My main concern being a new mom was breastfeeding. I went online and tried finding a doula who would offer me a private class. Alas, I found Cali. What immediately impressed me was how quick she responded to my intro email. She was open to come over to my house, teach me the basics about breastfeeding and offer her advice postpartum. Cali was helpful, professional, and caring. Having my first baby with Cali's support made the experience that much better. So glad I found Cali!

It wasn't long until we felt very overwhelmed by all the decisions and challenges that faced us. One of our friends recommended that we hire a doula to help us with the process... and so the search began. We met with a few different doulas, however as soon as we met Cali, we knew she was the perfect fit for our growing family. We felt very comfortable with her, she was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, and her beliefs aligned with ours about the ideal birth. In addition, she offered us private parenting classes since our schedules were always conflicting with the hospital's classes we were interested in taking. In all of our meetings before the birth, Cali came prepared and ready to work. However, I always felt like I was meeting with a good friend. When my water broke 1 month early, Cali dropped everything to be at my side (even though it was her birthday!!) She even came to our house first to help pack for the hospital, keep me calm until my husband got home from work, and even installed our car seat (since we were so unprepared for such an early arrival!) I was a little unsure that I was going to be able to follow the birth plan we had put together, to keep things all natural, with no medical intervention, but with Cali's help, I was! She was calm and encouraging through my entire labor, and provided support for my husband as he coached me through a successful, all natural birth. We could not be more grateful. After the birth, Cali constantly checked in on us, and offered advice and help when we were having some difficulties with breast-feeding during her postpartum visit. We are so thankful that we can look back on our labor in a positive light, and we have Cali to thank for that. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a Doula.

The tools and techniques I learned in her class gave me the confidence and calm I needed--and I used them again when I gave birth to my second child in June 2023. Both births were completely unmedicated, peaceful, and empowering. I wasn't afraid--I actually enjoyed the experience. Alisha is incredibly warm, kind, and grounded. Her presence alone is calming, and she was always able to soothe any fears or anxieties I had. I even called her while in labor, and she guided me through breathing techniques that helped me stay centered. With my first, I arrived at the hospital already 9 centimeters dilated after laboring at home most of the day. It was a beautiful experience. My husband took the class with me, which was so helpful. He knew exactly how to support me and understood the birth experience I envisioned. Because I had such a positive experience, I even reached out to Alisha while my sister was in labor. Although my sister hadn't taken the course, Alisha generously offered to speak with her and provided much-needed reassurance during a stressful time. To this day, I still use the calming techniques I learned, and I'm teaching my children the importance of mindfulness and meditation. I was so excited to finally meet her in person and I signed the contract right away. I immediately sent over my deposit and I requested that she provide me with a receipt for the deposit . The fact that she was initially declining my request for a receipt because she wanted to wait until after the baby was born was probably the first sign that trouble was coming. I went back-and-forth with her and asked to get my receipt for the money that I had already paid so that I could use that receipt for a reimbursement with my flexible spending account. She still refused to give me the receipt so I reached out to my flexible spending company and asked them if I had to wait for the baby to be born in order to be reimbursed and they said no. Finally, Marisol agreed to give me a receipt for my deposit. I found this quite odd since people generally get a receipt when money exchanges hands. My husband and I meet with Marisol around 36 weeks to go over the birth plan. I tell her that my plan is to have her help me labor at home as much as possible since I wanted to reduce the likelihood of medical interventions. I also asked they she capture some photos for us. Marisol explained that we should not contact her right away if labor starts in the middle of the night, only call when ready. She kept stressing this point and even emailed me a document that says to only call when we are ready for her to come. A couple of weeks later I go into labor late one night. My labor progressed quickly and we called Marisol when we wanted her to come over, no answer. I then texted her. A short time later I told her we were headed to the hospital. Labor pains got so intense that I was not able to monitor my phone so my husband and Marisol were texting. Labor pains were so intense so I requested an epidural at the hospital. Once Marisol got this information , she assumed she had more time. I guess she didn't take into account that that epidural was not completed. Long story short, she didn't make her way to the hospital until after the kid was born. Per her contract, she had 90 minutes to get to me. My labor was quick but she had a 3 hour heads up. I was actually disappointed that she came to the hospital because now it feels like a random acquaintance just showed up for one of the biggest days of your life and now you have to entertain them. She stayed with us until we got transferred to our postpartum room. At this point, Marisol was not a part of my birth story at all and I was angry. A couple days later I immediately requested a partial refund. She denied my request saying she was "available." Instead she offered me one additional 3 hour postpartum visit. I didn't accept that and said we could discuss this matter when she did her postpartum visit. During the visit, Marisol said she could tell that I "felt some type of way" and she asked me to share my feelings. I told her I felt cheated, I'm out a lot of money and she didn't have to do anything. It was her choice to not come to me right away, I followed all of her instructions. Marisol then told me she was actually on her way to me but she needed time to shower, clean her doula supplies and pack her doula bag. Once she heard about the epidural, she returned home to pack snacks. This information infuriated me....she missed my birth for this?!?! This is an area where you don't get a do over. I would imagine that with the nature of this job you would always have your supplies clean and ready. She ended up offering me 12 postpartum hours. I told her that was not what I wanted since I didn't want to think of things for her to help me with. In plus, it's easy to get help during the day. I ended up requesting my money back and threatening legal action since she breached her own contract. In the end she agreed to return 1/2 of my money ($1400) and I was able to avoid legal action. (I didn't mind taking legal action, this was an open and shut case according to the guidance I received). I'd say she still came out ahead, $1400 for 2 short visits to my house and a short 45 minute visit to the hospital after my kid was born. I am beyond bummed about this experience. So yes, I still "feel some type of way!" I'm not sure how you could say you were available yet you missed the birth. And I still can't comprehend the rationale. I'm so confused.

We hired Chavah as our doula, and I l cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She was nothing short of incredible throughout our entire journey during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. From the very beginning, Chavah was so supportive, knowledgeable, and reassuring. No question ever felt too small or silly. She answered everything with such care, patience, and expertise, which gave me and my husband so much peace of mind. Her presence alone was calming and soothing. She advocated for us and even empowered us to advocate for ourselves. Chavah truly cares and is so knowledge and that is exactly who you want supporting you during your pregnancy and birth. My husband and I are beyond grateful for Chavah. Hire her and you will be in the best of hands!

Let me start by saying that Chavah is one of the kindest souls I've ever met! When we first found…read moreout we were pregnant, Chavah was referred to us by a dear friend who used her for her home birth, and was so thrilled with her birth experience. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, but even though we hadn't formally signed paperwork or "hired" Chavah she still so graciously walked us through the most difficult and painful experience of our life (and I might add that was without even meeting us or receiving a dime from us.) When we were blessed with our rainbow baby, we were not sure we wanted a home birth due to the previous miscarriage anxiety was obviously high. So we started care with a different provider, whom we did not end up being happy with. We switched care to Chavah and that was the absolute best decision we ever made! She honestly saved my pregnancy and allowed me to have the best outcome at my birth. Chavah caught many things the previous provider missed, like low iron and border line GD. She helped educate me to manage the GD with diet and finger pricking and she also helped me raise my iron levels. The educational component that Chavah provides is unlike any other we received and we took many many classes. She is patient, answers all your questions and believe me I have a lot of them, and she just has a way of teaching that makes it enjoyable and easy to remember. When it came time to the birth we were hoping for a home birth, but knew with some of my aliments that a hospital transfer was highly likely. We did decided to transfer to the hospital early in my labor by choice not out of necessity because that just made the most sense for my case. I was in labor at the hospital for almost two days and Chavah was right by my side almost the entire time. She just went home once to get some rest when my Doula came and she knew I had the care I needed. Chavah was soooooo pivotal in my birth, as she saved me from a C-section by petitioned the doctor to allow me more time to dilate. She really impressed me as she stated facts to the doctor showing the doctor that both baby and I were doing perfectly fine and another hour was exactly what my body needed. She also ensured that I got the delayed cord clamping I wanted, even when the doctor tried multiple times to cut it early. Chavah literally held the placenta so that my baby could receive all his blood. Her postpartum care has been just as amazing as all her other care. The amount of times I have called Chavah crying and she has helped me through my struggles as a new mom are countless. She is so encouraging and supportive which is exactly what you need in this fragile postpartum state! Her support through the challenging breastfeeding experience is what has kept me going. And this week alone, she came over and we had a fun baby wearing class! Chavah's heart is so pure and her desire to help not only mamas but families was made so evident to us through our experience with her. When it comes time for out next baby, she will absolutely have to be part of our birth team! I highly recommend her to anyone who is pregnant, she will transform your pregnancy experience and your journey to motherhood.
