This isn't really for me but I'm sure that there are a lot of people to whom this would appeal. I was a little taken aback by the sight of such stuff but my main aim was just to get a cami/chemise. So, with regards to THAT side of the shop (and that side only!)... It is very reasonably priced and I would recommend it definitely. The service was great and I was asked if I needed any help at all, which I find quite reassuring in a ...specialised shop like this one.

Passion Online is a large adult shop at the Newport Road end of City Road. Painted in bright cerise…read morepink, there's no missing it, but thankfully it is pretty discrete about what it does! I have no objection to these kinds of shops, and I am pleased to see that they are generally more accepted these days than they used to be. The fact that the sex shops of old, which were predominantly targeted at men, have morphed into emporiums that offer lots of products to enhance female as well as male satisfaction can only be a good thing. Instead of dirty vids, with their ludicrous and often deeply offensive content, as well as a plethora of other products that provide passive forms of 'pleasure', both vicariously and auto erotically, this new breed of shop caters more for a participatory expression of sexual activity, which one would hope would lead to a better understanding of the sexual drives and desires of both sexes, as well as a more democratic delivery of satisfaction all round. This is borne out by Passion's commitment to the idea "that couples who play together, stay together". Nevertheless, I do wonder about what inspires these shops to call themselves things like Passion! Surely the vast number of products available, (sex toys, fetish gear, maids and nurses costumes, amongst many others, books and vids, S and M paraphernalia etc...), are to excite some kind of response in people that need ever increasing stimulus to get them to a place of arousal...? Passion is innate, and doesn't need the merest hint of perversion to excite it. Some of the products that Passion carry are pretty kinky, which is fine in itself, but certainly doesn't conform to my idea of passion. Nurses outfits inspire lust as far as I'm concerned, and love inspires passion.

I have noticed however that there's actually been quite a bit of refurbishment done to the place. To be honest though it merely seems like they've merely moved things around rather than drastically improved the place. Women's clothing (which includes brands such as Topshop, Jane Norman, and Miss Selfridge) is now upstairs, and they have extended the shoe, beauty and bags sections. I must admit the fact that they now stock GHD straightness did impress me, but aside from that, I wasn't particularly fussed. I wouldn't let my less than positive opinion put you off; this Debenhams is fine, and far superior to the one in Swansea. I also think that if you're on more of a budget it's a very good alternative to Cardiff's two other department stores.

I think I'm right in saying they have just knocked through the upstairs which makes it longer and gives it an additional entrance in the new section. The shoe department is much better now and the whole new part seems much younger than the rest of the store. I personally like the beauty section in this store, and they even have a Clarin's Skin Spa is you fancy a bit of extra spoiling. Worth checking out are the designer at Debenhams like Betty Jackson and Julian MacDonald and I really like the Red Herring selection.
