Lincoln Heights

A TRUE MASTER OF RESTORATION I cannot say enough wonderful…read morethings about Dante Restoration in Lincoln Heights and, especially, its owner and master restorer, Marco. I have a beautiful 3-foot Italian pot that was accidentally broken into nearly 50 pieces by my then-15-year-old daughter. In an attempt to repair it herself, she did her best -- but the pot was haphazardly put back together with mismatched glue. Needless to say, I thought my beautiful Italian piece was probably beyond saving. Then I met Marco. He completely disassembled the pot, carefully removed all of the old glue, meticulously cleaned every piece, matched the original paint to a tee, and painstakingly pieced the entire pot back together. The result was absolutely incredible. You would never know it had ever been broken. Every detail, every color, every seam was beautifully restored. But what makes Marco so special goes beyond his extraordinary talent as a restoration artist. He is a genuinely kind and caring person who takes the time to get to know you. As he shared his own history and story with me, I immediately knew that he was the perfect person to entrust with something so meaningful to me. I believe he carries that same care, patience and spirit into every piece he restores. I'm sorry it took me so long to write this review, but perhaps waiting a year makes it even more meaningful: after a full year, my Italian pot still looks as beautiful as the day I picked it up from Dante Restoration. Thank you, Marco! You are a true master of your craft and a kind soul. I am so grateful you brought my beautiful Italian pot back to life. I couldn't recommend Dante Restoration more highly!

Centurion Fine Art Restoration - Repaired frame that looks even better than it did before it was dropped on floor.

Centurion Fine Art Restoration

Absolutely incredible …read more.. The work that Centurion Fine Art Restoration does is nothing less than spectacular and of museum quality. We recently delivered a painting by Edward Dargou (1870) recently purchased in Carmel, requesting a restoration to both the original oil on wood piece and frame. The cleaning treatment procedures and processes applied, as well as the reconstruction and complete replacement of the metal leafing of the frame are simply mind boggling. Aixa was a joy to deal with, extremely knowledgeable, upfront and honest about the detail and price of the work required, as well as the time deliverable. We've already shared we will be returning in the weeks ahead with other pieces we've bought throughout the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you ...

Aixa is not only a miracle worker but also one of the nicest people I've ever met. When renovating…read moremy mother's home on the Westside after she moved to a nursing home in 2019, a construction worker inexplicably moved and dropped this painting even though I had set it aside with only a few items that I wanted to keep in a room that he wasn't even supposed to go in. Not only was this unique frame from about 1904 badly damaged, but about half of the molding was missing. To say I was upset was an understatement, and I assumed the frame was a lost cause. After finding Aixa on Yelp, I reached out to her in 2019 to see if she could repair the frame, but then life and the pandemic got in the way and nothing got done. I reached out again to Aixa in late 2024, and five years later she still remembered my email and this painting! I brought it to her studio, and she spent close to an hour explaining to me exactly how she would restore the frame step by step. I could immediately tell that she takes immense pride in her craft. I still don't know how she did it, but not only did she figure out where and how the broken pieces of molding fit back together, she also "magically" carved new molding where the sections were missing. Upon careful examination of the frame when I picked it up, not only were there no cracks but I couldn't tell where the broken pieces and her carvings all fit together. Perfectly seamless! I had hoped to only repair the molding, but ultimately Aixa took the frame apart and put it back together because the damage to the joints was worse than it looked. Despite the additional labor, she stood by her original estimate. Lastly, I didn't know this beforehand, but the frame isn't simply painted gold. Instead, to achieve the historical look of the frame, small pieces of gold leaf (you can use real gold leaf, but fake gold leaf looks just as good and is much less expensive) are carefully and methodically applied to the frame. Once again, Aixa's attention to detail and meticulous work is obvious when looking at the before and after photos! Her studio is no longer on the Westside, but totally worth the drive if you have something that you cherish and want to restore.
