Free entry to the museum that is next to Manuela. The open space is really wide and highlights many modern and contemporary artists. Latinx month was showcasing a lot of women's artistry. Photography is allowed in certain area. Security is around so you feel safe. Will be back to view the gift store.

I was really impressed with the space they have here. Each little department were all separate but still felt very cohesive. The galleries were beautiful and I absolutely loved the exhibition they currently had up. Will definitely be back!

Hauser & Wirth in the Arts District is one of those places that makes you feel instantly cooler just for showing up. The building has that industrial-chic vibe, with tall ceilings, exposed brick, and the kind of minimalist layout that makes you whisper for no real reason. I wandered through the galleries pretending I had deep thoughts about contemporary art, while secretly just enjoying how peaceful and well-curated everything was. One piece looked like it could have been a tangle of wires or a high-concept coat rack. Either way, I was into it. The best part is that it's free, which somehow makes the whole experience feel like a very cultured steal. The courtyard is a nice place to linger, and the overall atmosphere is calm and thoughtful without being uptight. Whether you're genuinely into art or just want to feel like the kind of person who spends their weekend at a gallery, this spot totally works.

Located in the arts district, this is a fairly large and free gallery open to the public. There is a restaurant located inside as well. We happened to come on a day where the galleries were closed due to new installations being placed, so we could not see the gallery itself. However the building is very cool. There is a large patio area with a cool urban garden and chicken coop that is used for the restaurant located inside the building. There are numerous parking lots nearby, all within the $5-10 per hour range. We will return once the galleries reopen.

Manuela, the restaurant in HAUSER & WIRTH, was especially busy with a long waiting line, on a Saturday afternoon. Good thing we weren't here for Manuela. HAUSER & WIRTH has new exhibits in their main hall and in the smaller rooms. Beautiful! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable as always. It's free to view the exhibit.

This is a very nice art museum on 3rd St. in the Art's District of DTLA. Probably one of the best things about Hauser & Wirth is that it is free. Yes, free. With this, you can enter the museum and view their changing exhibits whenever you are in the area. I'm guessing, but I believe that probably a lot of the people who view the art at this museum do so before or after going to Manuela, the very popular restaurant attached to Hauser & Wirth. But, no matter the motivation, it is a great reason to view the art shown at this museum. As is the case with many museum, Hauser & Wirth is a large open space allowing the people who are viewing the art to do so with a freedom of movement. Though this museum is not that large in terms of overall space, it always offers a great section of art from various artist. When you're in the Art's Distract this is a must stop-in location.

Beautiful open spaces. Super modern art. Interesting and at times disturbing. Recommended if you are nearby, Manuela has nice drinks.

Really interesting gallery with some amazing works of art. There was this one fellow who showed the backstory and detail of different art pieces. It was free entry and there was a bookstore and cafe. However you did have to find parking around the area but we found a cheap place. Highly recommend!!

I've been to this museum a couple of times now, and I recommend it to others. A lot of open space with exhibits that change regularly. Small compared to most other museums, but the art is well-curated. Free entry. Street parking is available but fills up quickly during peak hours. There is paid parking for $20. They also close at 6, so hard to get there on a weekday if you work a typical schedule. Museum is attached Manuela, an amazing tapas restaurant with a very nice bar. Great food, stellar drinks, and very good service. Definitely stop by before or after viewing the art.

After a wonderful lunch at Manuela, my friend and I enjoyed walking through the exhibits at Hauser & Wirth. I'd been to H&W several years ago to see the Amy Sherrald exhibit, so I was optimistic that we would see some great stuff. First we went to the back two rooms. The garage set up didn't inspire me, but my friend liked it, so it just showed that art is subjective. We both liked the two rubber tubes that extended over water and shot out air, causing them to make waves, ripples and shadows. But the real star of the day was in the front room, the Firelei Baez exhibit. OMG. Incredible. We stopped in front of each painting, appreciating her technique and trying to understand the symbolism and why certain elements were repeated in multiple paintings. When we asked an attendant a question, we were referred to a young man named Cameron who was moving boxes. It turns out that he's a passionate art expert who had an incredible depth of knowledge about Baez's paintings. Wow. He took the time to explain why she chose her subject matter and some of the techniques she used. He was better than any guide I've ever encountered in a museum. I hope he's there the next time we go. We asked him what the next exhibit is, and he said it's fabulous but he couldn't tell us. Can't wait!

Hauser & Wirth is a Swiss contemporary and modern art gallery and this is one (opened in March 2016) of many gallery locations in the world. [Admission & Free tour]: Free admission. Currently the gallery offers public tours for "Thomas J Price. Beyond Measure" every Wednesday at 3 PM in South Gallery. [Parking]: Difficult street parking during busy weekend and all parking lots suggested on the website aren't exactly cheap ($15+). I actually just parked at Aiso Street Garage (101 N Judge John Aiso St, Los Angeles, CA 90012) and walked 15 minutes to this place. [What to see]: The gallery has a restaurant, a garden, a bookstore, a gallery shop, and exhibit halls. Visitors can scan a QR code for a virtual guidebook. Great place to stop by for fans of abstract art, but this gallery is pretty small and it was just alright for me.

Considering it's permanently on the wall, think safe assumption, the woman behind desk would know the history of the painting. She said she didn't. And not in an I just work here kind of way but in a snobby tone. We got the impression she judged a book by its cover...like I said we were in gym clothes. And my recent trip to the Downtown LA Art Walk was exactly that a collection of techniques, practices, talents, mediums, and modes of communication that came together and landed to create an amorphous experience that was shaped, like clay, to create visual and sensory craftwork. There were different galleries offering different works. I will begin this review by naming some of my favorite. There was this gallery showing photography that was enhanced, played, or showcased light and that is where I found the dinosaurs of Cabezon come to life by the angles of a camera. I clipped the picture of the drawing (art inception) and it shows a long neck dinosaur that I want to call a jirrafasuaraus but I know that is wrong, walking toward a twilight colored horizon-- where the low of the sky was orange, layered above by a lemon-yellow strip of sky, then followed a soften almost transparent orange, with the rest of the sky being a early evening blue. I could not tell that the picture was fake. I do not want to say that I thought that Jurrasic Park was real, but, the picture did make me feel that the dessert has seen dinosaurs walking toward lovely sunsets. Another favorite was a negative of a picture of what looked like a swan floating in water that was completely black, like a swan swimming on black construction paper. But the only visible parts of the swan was is feathered body, its long neck, and regal tail. I could not see its eyes, I could not see its beak, I could not see its crest up high. The swan was averting the lens of the camera and yet the beauty of the swan was evident because its pure white ruffles were silent against a black backdrop. I could continue naming the pieces I like and why, but then the artwalk would becoming an art viewing. So I will conclude that I also saw a woman wearing a ruffled vest that dragged to the floor. It was inconvenient and kind of bulky, and maybe drag dirt along the train, but this was also art. I point that out because the show attracted people with style, and style on a body, is art, as everyone knows. There was also an apartment building that opens its doors. It offered a fondue fountain, chocolate, pool table, blackjack, and a giant arcade machine where one could play spade invader or pac-man. So the engagement level of Art Walk expanded to art one could make on the spot. And if you wonder how one makes art at a pool table--- then I suggest seeing a video of a player using a stick to make a ball jump to avoid one ball and hit the other. The movement is a type of ballet jump (a piroutte) that is prompted by a stick propulsion. If that is not artistic expression, then, a person living in a glass box suspended in air above the ground isn't either. As I walked the streets of LA, I also saw a truck that had four spotlights. I have always seen events that are signaled out by spotlights but now I know that these spotlights are ambulatory, and kind of, yes, art in their own way. They rose lights to the buildings side and to the night sky. The movement was a type of dance light, and I defy anyone to prove me wrong because at its core, art can never be truly define by words because, on its own, its a visual language.

Each state of transformation tells its own story. It forces you to look at them not as background fixtures, but as objects with weight, history, and consequence. The contrast between the historical monuments and the contemporary responses is powerful. It's not an easy exhibition, and that's the point. It invites reflection, discomfort, and dialogue.
