I never know whether to trust rave reviews on Yelp, but in the case of Brian Ludlow, owner of…read moreLudlow's Handyman Services, the five star ratings are spot on accurate. I needed a mailbox installed and had tried for 3 months to schedule various handyman recommended by neighbors. I finally took things into my own hands and searched for a reputable and highly rated handyman on Yelp. There were several options to choose from, but I was immediately drawn to Brian's business because it is locally owned and operated by him. Plus, I really liked his bio. I could tell he was someone who enjoyed his work and was focused on high quality outcomes for customer projects. Brian did not disappoint. Every step of the process was a good one. My first point of contact was through Yelp messaging. That's when I first knew I was on the right track because Brian promptly replied. Moreover, his communication skills were excellent from the get-go. He was able to fit me into his schedule a few days after my request. He arrived on time prepared with what he needed to do the job. Everything went smoothly, especially because Brian and I had reviewed the installation instructions through photos I attached to our Yelp messages. He was able to acquire the remaining needed materials that I did not have on hand. Brian clearly knew what he was doing and got the mailbox installed without any problems. He charged a reasonable amount and was a pleasure to work with. I had a great customer experience. I already have other projects lined up for him. Living in a 200-year-old home is going to provide plenty of opportunities to call on Brian's experience and excellent problem-solving skills.

Despite faithfully following the directions and lots of time on YouTube, I just couldn't get the pieces to fit together perfectly. Found Magic Hands here on Yelp. Spoke to Ricky, explained my situation. The fact that I'm in Lansdowne (not really his core area) and only needed an hour or two of help to get me on track, probably made this a bit less than his most enticing job of the week. Nevertheless, he worked with me to find a time that worked for both of us. He sent his guy Chris, who was terrific - polite, professional, very competent, and - best of all - very patient with me as he showed me how to do the job, what I'd been doing wrong, etc. I still pan to be a DIYer whenever possible, but I've saved Magic Hands' number in my phone, just in case!

Scheduling an estimate for Mazzacraft was fine. Matt showed up on time, very nice, and looked over…read morethe job and gave me some suggestions on how to approach. Price was not an issue as the replacement of wood around our garage bays and painting is as basic as you can get. Matt agreed to an estimate and said it was not a big deal. Then came the broken promises of an estimate and then a second broken promise of an estimate. Finally a text (not a call) that they would not take the job because wood replacement did not go so well in the past?!? That's poor customer service and a lack of integrity. Mazzacraft, in my opinion, is another poorly run "contracting" service that talks-the-talk but does not deliver. Which is too bad because we had a ton of work in a commercial building we own. They are just another in a list of contractors that breaks promises and you cannot count on. Avoid if you can - in my opinion of course.

He helped me make sure I ordered the right doors. He picked up everything at Lowe's, and sent pictures before he left to make sure that I was satisfied with how everything looked. The job was started and finished on time. He provided updates and pictures. He also noticed that the overhang by the back door was askew. He pointed this out and was willing to fix that also. The weatherstripping on the back door had always been a little discombobulated. I did not mention this, but when I got home Phil had gone ahead and fixed it. The entire job was done above and beyond my expectations. Everything was also completed for a little less than the quote! That was a pleasant surprise. I definitely plan to hire Phil again! All this being said, I give Phil my highest recommendation and suggest that you hire him too!
