Moved in 8/2015 & the 1st weekend we had a FLOOD; a flood that was not coming from any of our washer, sinks or bathroom! From the laundry room water was just coming out of the walls & seeping out to the carpet in to the hall and dining room. This "Mystery flood" wasn't resolved until the 3rd time it happened. Yes 3rd time! Each time it was "resolved" a maintenance member would say "oh its this oh its that" but really it took until the 3rd flood going into next door's "very expensive furnished" apt did they really look into it; & tearing up a wall to figure out piping piece had broke so upstairs filthy laundry or tub water was backing up & over flowing into my apt as bell as the apt next to mines. Even the 1st flood seeped into the apt next to us but it was vacant at the time & it must've molded bc the two elderly that moved in said when they moved in there was a musty smell which wasn't right for a newly renovated apt. My strife with these flood issues has more to do with management/jen, my husband & I felt like she didn't think this was a big deal. Each time it was an inconvenience; I was late to work, we couldn't do laundry; they had carpet people put these huge fans 24/7 to "dry" the water. They were Loud we couldn't sleep we had to move all the furniture around like hoarders and walk over and climb things just to get in and out. My electric bill each flood time was higher,& for the first flood being during a sweltering Aug. weekend they said it might be the condenser from the AC unit so we had to turn the AC off! They brought in a unit ac that they set up in the bedroom for us but that leaked too! When I pulled up the carpet and looked at the wood it was soaked with the filthy water & the areas of carpet touching the walls stayed wet. The maintenance kid even called the manager & said I think her carpet is going to need replacing; she said to him I'm not replacing that carpet. Our laundry room door couldn't shut bc the wood swelled and warped, under the lament floor water never dried completely & you can't do anything but blow a fan over it.
Our toilet ring always leaked, after maintenance tightened it, a week later leak again. The shower was so old for this newly renovated "modernista" apt that the tub's lever for turning it to shower or faucet was totally stuck. I called the front desk to put in an order for our shower tiles cracking and looking like they would cave in, they said no problem. A week later after no one came, I called back & the manager said there was no one coming to fix it bc there was no order put in. The next morning the tiles caved in & fell on my husband's feet while he was showering. Then the next day a guy came to look and said oh yeah we have to re do the whole shower, I'll come back tomorrow. I called back saying we need to find a way for us to use a vacant apts shower bc well we have to shower daily like other hygienic people!!! Luckily I work nights bc the manager didn't seem to have found an answer to where we were going to bathe for the next few days and it was already past 1pm. I had to text and call multiple times before she gave me a definitive answer.
Our sink had always leaked underneath & when we first moved in a maintenance member didn't replace the molding warping board he sprayed it! Even after wiping and cleaning &putting paper towels to absorb this leaking it just got worse and worse. I was afraid to open the cabinet doors bc of mold spores &my asthma. After some time it was SO bad looking &smelling I called again & the manager said she would send someone out to look at it. He came he looked and he called her back in front of me &clearly said its bad, its mold. She later texted me saying she would have a contractor out in the AM to fix it. He didn't come in the am he came at 3pm as I had to go to work so I let him in & told the front office I had to leave so if they could send someone to lock up for me when he leaves. I drive off & realized I forgot my drivers lic. When I get back I see a soaking wet contractor get in his truck & leave & the new maintenance guy have a frozen look of fear on his face. He said "mam I have bad news" & I said "did our dog get out?" he said "no, Worse", me "what could be worse!?" Oh he knew our story ... he said "another flood". (How does a new maintenance guy know all about these floods we had?). He took a look at it &said he thinks the contractor snapped the pipe purposely. He even called the manager & told her this and it was like a shrug response to him.
