TL;DR: Brandon stayed 90 minutes extra to take photos because I spent my wedding in the ER. If that doesn't convince you to hire him, I don't know what will. If not that, then you should know Brandon takes brilliant photojournalist-style photos. He captures the genuine moments and doesn't force the fake ones. I couldn't imagine my wedding happening without Brandon--and you shouldn't imagine yours without him too! read more

Brandon is a great photographer and we loved his work, but his business practices as a professional photographer are dishonest. We hired Brandon to do an engagement shoot with us, and wanted to hire him for our wedding also. After receiving back the images from our engagement session, we decided to not hire Brandon for our wedding after all because his delivered product turned out to be much different than what his website and contract will lead you believe. Included in all of his packages is a "a high resolution disc of the color-corrected photographs". However, there are 2 things that are misleading about this statement: 1) Brandon's defintion "high resolution" is much less than all of the other Seattle-area photographers that we talked to (there are about 15 other photographers that we called after we saw what Brandon's resolution). If you want to make any of your own prints larger than 5"x7" at a decent dpi, or print canvas prints (by the way, Brandon charges a huge markup on these), you will not be able to. The resolution is not high enough for what print shops require. 2) Brandon's definition of "color-corrected" photographs does *not* mean the photographs that you see on his website - with artistic effects and even black-and-white adjustments. You will not get the digital files for any of the photos that he custom-edits. Those cost $45 per image (for just the digital file). What you get are what look like raw photographs from his camera, with slight "color-correcting". Since we booked our wedding session before we got our engagement photos back, we had already given a deposit. Once we found out what Brandon's packages *actually* consisted of, we attempted to work it out with him and get our deposit back. He refused our request and told us the files he gave us should be sufficient for our printing needs, and that if we want prints larger than 5x7, we should order through him ($85 for a 16x20 print). As such, we chose not to have Brandon shoot our wedding and found a photographer that would give us the files (as I mentioned, every other photographer we called provided all the touched-up images at a *real* "high-resolution). He gave us a $100 "studio credit" to try to make up for the $300 deposit that we lost to him. When we placed the order for the prints we wanted, he forced us to submit 2 separate orders, one for the studio credit and one for the photos that were included in our engagement practices. This meant that we had to pay $15 in shipping costs. He claimed that it was because the studio would actually be shipping them separately. However, when they came, they were (as we suspected) all shipped in one shipment - as always, he was just nickle and diming us for everything he could. read more

I have to say that I love pictures and so do my family and friends. Because we all love pictures so much, our expectations of good photos are extremely high. Brandon Patoc Photography without a doubt hit photographic home runs throughout our destination wedding week in Cabo. I am grateful that he poured hours into making our pictures look amazing. Our wedding day went by so fast and when I got the proofs, I felt transported back to our special day. Brandon's attention to detail seemed to catch every emotion perfectly and each image had a story. I know people say a picture says a thousand words, but Brandon's photos captured a million. Let me start by saying planning a wedding was probably one of the most stressful experiences of my life! That said it was also one of the most amazing, magical and life changing experiences of my life and hiring Brandon was a no brainer. Looking at his work you can plainly see that he is extremely talented and has a wonderful eye for capturing honest and sincere moments. My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Brandon on two separate occasions (engagement session and wedding day) and each time he was professional and always a pleasure. My wife and I hired Brandon for our wedding photographer on the suggestion of a mutual friend, and I feel like I should be taking that friend out for dinner on a weekly basis to thank her for the suggestion. I know my fair share of wedding photographers back home (Kansas City) and wasn't really looking forward to the notion of flying someone out for our wedding, so I was glad to find someone local whose book looked solid and who was, more importantly, easy/quick to communicate with. We both immediately felt comfortable with Brandon; a lot of times, wedding-related folks (caterers, photographers, dj's, etc) never let you forget how busy they are, but Brandon made a point to make us feel like we were the center of his universe for our wedding day. On our wedding day, Brandon put in one of the most solid days of work I've ever seen anyone put in. He stayed patient as we corralled a pretty large wedding party full of edgy parents and crying kids, handled my wife's particular nature with incredible grace, and did so with a smile as he took our pre-wedding shots. During the ceremony, I didn't notice him once, but (after looking at the shots we got back) I'm amazed I didn't. He didn't miss an angle and documented the ceremony perfectly, catching the glow everyone had on their faces so beautifully. For the reception, Brandon was in the thick of everyone, and it seemed like I couldn't move 4 steps without seeing him taking pictures of my wife and I or our families and friends (this is a good thing). He was seemingly everywhere at once, and managed to capture the intimate, genuine hugs and conversations with grace while still managing to capture the frantic, jubilant energy of the goofballs on the dance floor. He also managed to document all of the intricate details (place settings, food, decorations) that so much time is spent thinking about and executing while often being overlooked for big picture details. Your wedding day is one of the days you absolutely want to feel like a rock star, and Brandon's photography definitely made my wife and I feel larger than life. I can't express how impressed I am with Brandon's professionalism, his vision, and his ability to capture different moments and different styles. I've got no plans on getting married again (knock on wood!), but I can happily and whole-heartedly recommend Brandon's services for anyone who is tying the knot or documenting an event. read more

We hired Brandon last-minute (in wedding planning time) for the ceremony and formal photos for our wedding. We only wanted to have him for the shots that we felt were absolutely required, like family/wedding party shots and the ceremony. He was reasonable and charges about $300 per hour. There was nothing ground-breaking about his photography. We chatted with him on the phone prior to the wedding so that he could get some idea of who we were, what our style was, etc. He did get some shots of my husband and me that were lovely. I could have used more artistic direction from him. If you decide to use him, he has excellent communication, laid-back style, and a quirky sense of humor. The laid-back style is also a down-side, if you aren't totally sure what you want out of the session. I was so flustered that day, I didn't even think to ask Brandon about the shots he got prior to his departure. Post-wedding, we received access to our photos online and a CD of the color-corrected, high-resolution photos. We were very pleased with the result. read more

Gosh, I'm two years behind on my review writing but better late than never? Brandon photographed our Summer wedding in Seattle back in 2014. He was always professional and caring from start to finish. In our pre-planning meeting he listened to what we had envisioned and captured the best moments possible on our day. We wanted a mix of backgrounds, styles, and locations for couple pictures. With that information he took us to the best possible places to really showcase what we wanted. The best photos from that night came from our reception: raw emotions on film. We danced and had a blast- every moment is on film. We had quiet moments in a crowded room- they're captured on film. Details that you would forget about are all captured. Brandon, you're a stand up guy with an incredible eye. My guests loved your photos and still comment on how wonderfully the day was shot. I don't even know where to start with my feelings on Brandon's work - I was SO afraid of getting wedding pictures taken. I'm not very photogenic and hated the idea of fake smiling for hours. Brandon put all my nerves to rest with his laid back personality. Don't get me wrong, he's all business but yet so casual, it's really refreshing especially when you have a million things going on when planning a wedding. All of our friends joked about how Brandon was a ninja at our wedding, he was everywhere all at once. Everywhere you turned, there he was capturing a picture of something. He's definitely not one to just stand by and wait for perfect moments, he creates them. We did the obligatory family pictures and he used his sense of humor to get everyone in my big family on the same page. I could go on for an hour, but I'll try to respect your time. Hiring Brandon Patoc as our wedding photographer, was one of the best decisions we made throughout the year of planning. We stumbled upon his name in a Bridal magazine listed as one of Seattle's top photographers, and immediately fell in love with his style. Not only were we stunned by the photos he captured--moments we didn't even know existed on our wedding day--but he was fantastic to work with. He answered emails, phone calls (even texts) within the hour, and consistently worked around our schedule, met with our wedding planner (and us!) and surprised us with a delivery of champagne on Valentines Day. He went so far beyond his required duties as our photographer. As for his photos: There isn't anything we treasure more. We look back on them at least once a week (I know, I know), and each time we're more and more pleased with his work, noticing new details and emotion. He was able to be everywhere at once it seemed. Running around in the least invasive way, capturing genuine moment after genuine moment. What sets Brandon apart from many other photographers we looked at, is the fact that he is a trained photo-journalist. He looks to tell a story--your story---through his photographs, which is precisely what we were hoping for, and exactly what we received. Finally, he cares about his clients, even after the event is said and done. Our wedding was in November, and he rushed prints to us (on CHRISTMAS EVE) to ensure we had the last-minute gifts (framed photos) we were hoping for. Deceptive. Ask him to see his real, full price list - the one he'll only cough up once you want prints, canvas, or an album besides the few included in your original package order (and once it's "too late" and he's the one person who has the photos of your wedding day that you already paid him to take in the first place.) At very least, pay exclusively with an AmEx, Visa, or other decent credit card so that you have them to help back you up if he decides to play any other games with you. read more

Having Brandon photograph our wedding was by far the best decision we made for that entire day. Brandon is smart, sharp and has a mellow demeanor which is refreshing on a day where energies tend to run high. He soon faded into the crowd and frankly, I completely forgot he was there once things really got going - which added even further to my surprise at all of the little moments that he managed to capture that day. Brandon's gift is the ability to beautifully photograph the nuances, the personal exchanges and emotions that now allow me to truly relive the day until the end of time - and his talent is rare. I have followed Brandon's work for quite a few years and was especially impressed by his documentary style from his international travels and shooting the Seattle Symphony. His photographs tell a story and that is what I was looking for. Brandon was so easy to work with, from meeting up, arranging payment and signing the contract, to the day of. We chose to have a second photographer as well and his choice of Andy Shepard was perfect. Andy spent the "getting ready" time with the guys which was perfect because my husband does not like getting his picture taken and Andy's personality was perfect to get him to smile and relax. Brandon went with the flow but also managed the day well. It was never a problem to ask him to get specific shots or anything like that. I got so many comments from my guests that our photographers were great, always around, and always willing to take those extra pictures of my guests. I really wanted drone pictures and Brandon was able to get some great shots with the drone so we could truly remember our surroundings that day. We were not having videography but with Brandon's pictures we didn't need it because we can get a feeling of the night through the pictures. What a privilege it is to work with Brandon. He takes his work extremely seriously and goes the extra mile to make you feel special and comfortable in front of the camera. Aside from his professionalism and calming nature, Brandon's journalistic perspective is unique to his own. Wedding photographers often feel compelled to shoot those cliche, "I saw this on Pinterest" moments -- not Brandon. His focus was to document the day as we hoped to remember it, full of candid laughs, raw emotion, dance moves...the real details.
