Steve is a true professional who seamlessly wears all the hats for family photography!…read more Steve recently photographed our family of four in an outdoor setting (October 2024). Our sons are 2 and 1, so we knew it was an ambitious goal - but we really wanted to capture this moment in time we know will go by so fast. Leading up to the photo session, Steve provided tips for outfits and preparing for the photoshoot, which helped me feel confident leading up to it. When we arrived, Steve was already there to meet us glowing with positive energy, which immediately snapped all of us out of the stressful morning of getting ready. Steve was not only a master behind the camera but also a real professional, as he seamlessly wears all the hats! He is brilliant with kids, quick on the shots, and goes with the flow while incorporating our ideas into the shoot, resulting in gorgeous photography of candid moments and genuine smiles with exceptional lighting and quality. While I was doing my makeup in the morning before the photoshoot, all I could think about was how to maintain the kids' runny noses during the shoot (do toddler's noses ever stop running?). When we received our photos, you would never know. Steve was able to edit this out so we can look back on wonderful memories of this time of love and laughter without runny noses tainting the moments. I am looking forward to hanging several prints on our wall and sending out favorite photos in our annual Christmas cards to friends and family. Due to the circumstances of photographing our family with little ones, I was really hoping to get at least a few favorites. I feel so thankful and thrilled to say Steve did such a remarkable job that we love so many of the photos - we are having a difficult time narrowing down our favorites!

We had determined a shoot location and Steve arrived there early to check the conditions. He immediately contacted us stating that with the cloud cover, lighting, and fog off of the water that the conditions were less than ideal. Steve then gave us the option to proceed with that spot or choose anywhere else that we would like. Hes very flexible and accomodating. Steve was so personable, lively, energetic, and creative. He was great with our two kids. He also had a great way of moving the session along without 'hurrying.' We felt that he earnestly took into account our ideas and he made an effort to incorporate them into the shoot. We also appreciated his creativity, vision, and technical aptitude. He would explain his reasoning behind the different poses, locations, and arrangements--eg, the lighting, the background, etc. Steve would redo a shot if he didnt feel great about it and he regularly shared some of the images as the session progressed. Also, we took a ton of shots with a myriad of different poses--he went above and beyond. Above all--he just seemed like nice down-home kinda guy--youd have a beer with him. Yeah...we all felt very comfortable and at ease with him! Highly recommend Steve and Hawk Fish photography.

Emily has gone above and beyond to capture the special moments of my now husband and I. I remember the first moment when I spoke with her, and from that one phone conversation, I knew that she and I would not only share the same vision for photography (how I would like my pictures to be captured and how she captures photographs), but also become friends!! our first phone conversation was about four months prior to the wedding, and I had not done anything to plan for it! I am a busy resident physician, and I also wanted to plan my own wedding, but I didn't know where to start! So on that day, in between me seeing patients, Emily and I had a really brief phone conversation, where she said three simple words, "I got you!" Since that fateful day, she has not given us a dream engagement photo shoot (at the very beach in which my husband, and I fell in love with in Malibu, the El Matador state Beach!) but also our very special moments on our special wedding day! In the middle of me getting pulled in different directions even on that wedding day... the minute she walked in with her team, I felt sense of calm and comfort, knowing that she was there to make sure that even though I couldn't remember everything that was happening that day because it was so busy, I trusted that she would be able to make sure I could remember those details later on in photographs! Aside from her warm heart and truly genuine personality, her work is fantastic! My husband and I have a very particular vision and preference for the type of photographs that we would like, and she fits that and more! If you look through her portfolio on her website or on her Instagram, you can see the brightness that she exuberance in her own personality onto her art. The way she captures the light is so unique, and she truly is the most talented photographer that I've ever come across. Therefore, I follow my gut and knew that she is the best of the best! I cannot wait until she continues to capture more delicate moments of our lives as I hope to continue to get to know her as well personally because she truly is one of the most special people on this universe!

When my husband and I began our search for a wedding photographer back in 2019, Teresa was one of the first we discovered, and I was immediately in love with her light & airy, classic aesthetic. Her photos and overall style are so dreamy, natural and effortless. After speaking to her on the phone, I pretty much knew immediately that she was our girl. She is so kind, easy to talk to, caring, and most importantly, honest. We were one of the many couples faced with the interruption of covid-19, and had to postpone our wedding a full year. Teresa was more than understanding and reassuring, which eased so much of the stress we faced at that time. A comment I received from multiple people on my wedding day was how calm I seemed. And I have to say, I credit 100% of that to Teresa. Leading up to the wedding, she made me feel so prepared and at ease. When wedding day arrived, she carried that sense of calm with her from start to finish. Shooting with Teresa feels like shooting with a good friend you've known forever. She is so sweet, funny, organized, and professional. Wedding day can be SO stressful, but Teresa never let me or anyone give into that at any time. She keeps you laughing, and brings an energy that every bride needs on her big day. The timeline she created for our day was completely seamless, and the day just felt so easy with her direction and care. The amount of people that also recognized this about her and made a point to tell me throughout my wedding day only further confirmed that she is truly amazing at what she does. She is the real deal. My wedding (and engagement) photos are something out of a dream. In fact, they are even better than what I dreamed of for so long. She captured the most special moments of our life so beautifully and organically, and we will cherish them forever. They are classic and timeless, and I never fail to get emotional any time I look at them. From the beginning, Teresa never felt like a vendor we hired, she felt like family. Words can never express how thankful I am for her and the experience she gave us, or how grateful we feel that she will be in our lives for years and years to come, capturing more of our life's precious moments. Our wedding day was truly perfect, and we owe SO much of it to Teresa and her hard work. We not only have these photos that we love, cherish, and will show our children someday, but we gained a dear friend in the process. I would recommend her to everyone under the sun. Thank you Teresa, from the bottom of our hearts.

I am someone who is way more comfortable being behind the camera. Luckily, Sara knew exactly how to lighten the mood and create photos that felt like real life, which is exactly what I was looking for. Over the years, we have done two more shoots with Sara, and each one is better than the last. My only gripe is that I hadn't met her before we got married. I am jealous of the couples who have their weddings documented so lovingly by Sara Knobel photo!
