We went in looking for a bike for my son the other night. Jose spent a ton of time helping us find the right size, and testing out bikes. We had reservations about the price, so Jose offered to look over and adjust a bike if we went somewhere else. In the end we bought him a different bike, but I came back that same night and I bought myself a new bike here. Jose was true to his word, asked if we bought one, and when I said yes, asked if I wanted him to look it over. He proceeded to make adjustments, tighten brakes, and gears. read more

I went to Bikeworks for a minor repair to my brake lever. Nikki was very attentive as I explained my issue. They ended up giving me a full inspection and Jose texted me a thorough report as to all of the things that my bike needed to run smoothly. My bicycle is very old and I decided not put any more money into it. When I came by to pick up my bike, Nikki was very gracious and showed me some other bikes that I might be interested in purchasing. When I got back on my bike, the brake lever was fixed and they didn't charge me a penny. All in all, I found the staff to be efficient, courteous, and very knowledgeable. I've been in search for a Trek for awhile now. Unfortunately, Trek is sold out of most of the bike I wanted due to the pandemic. I called up Brandon Bikeworks to see if they had the bike I wanted. They guy on the phone was super nice and said they had one being delivered. They took my word and held it for me. No pay over the phone kind of shop. The staff was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. They showed me how to take the front wheel off so I could get it in my car. We recently purchased a bike from Brandon Bikeworks and it was a great experience. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable and were able to help us find the right bike for my wife. They got out multiple bikes and let her try them out, and explained the differences between models, including some minor nuances we wouldn't have been aware of. The bike we decided on wasn't available yet, it was still in the box and needed to be assembled. I like that they were able to reserve it for us. While we weren't in a rush, we were told they would try to have it ready by a certain day and nobody called to tell us if it was or wasn't ready. We had to call a couple of times and were worried about coming across as pushy -- we just wanted to know so we could make plans if needed. More proactive communication would have been helpful, but it was still a great experience! I also like that they register the bike with both Trek and their internal system, and your first bronze maintenance is free! read more

I had a very pleasant experience with the owner on my first visit to this shop. I intended to come back for any future bike repair or maintenance. I found another TREK shop in Lakeland and since I was close, I tried them. It didn't go well. They broke a part of my folding bike locking mechanism. It led me to return to this shop. Here's my experience: Thursday Sept 7 I needed to take a problematic part of a folding bike to the manufacturer for repair. I watched the video link they sent and seem very self explanatory. I can do the job except I noticed that there's an aluminum nut unscrewed during disassembly. This prompted me to watch the reassembly video and like my hunch, it requires a torque wrench to a specific torque applied to it. I don't have this tool and not want to buy it for one time use so I decided to have a bike shop disassemble it so it can help them reassemble the bike after the problematic part is repaired. If I disassembled it and hand it over to a bike shop for reassembly, they'll likely turn down the task. Hand-over the bike to disassemble and I will ship the part to bike manufacturer for repair. Instructed not to repair it because it will void the entire warranty of the bike from the manufacturer. I will also ship the part for the manufacturer to access my warranty (based on email address, shipping address and account number). Friday Sept 8 They requested the disassembly/reassembly video. I sent it the day before but realized a typo on my part. Resent the video link and was confirmed to received it. They also request for the bike seat for when they need to temporary mount during maintenance. The mechanic asked my contact from the bike manufacturer so he can ask question as to how to fix the problem. I specific told them that the arrangement was only to disassemble the bike to send the problematic part to the manufacturer. He disregard my request and contacted somebody from the manufacturer anyway. He was fully informed to only disassemble and sent the part. I told them that I WILL SHIP THE PART. Saturday Sept 9 Stopped by to hand-over the bike seat. No update on the bike status. Sunday Sept 10 Shop is closed Monday Sept 11 I called to inquire a timeline when they expect to have it disassembled so I can ship the problematic part. A mechanic told me that they will call me back for the assessment and timeline. NO RETURN CALL. Tuesday Sept 12 I called for an update since I receive no call the day before. A mechanic told me that he hasn't even looked at the videos and he spent most of his time contacting the manufacturer about repairing it. He will also boxed the part and ship it to them. At this point, I realized that all the pertinent information and the agreed arrangement was never passed on to him. I explained everything to him but at this point, he seem already irritated. Knowing that all the agreed arrangements are completely disregarded, I requested to take my bike back and I will do it myself. The only way I will consider coming back to this place is if I deal with the owner and he does the work, otherwise, I rather have my bikes go elsewhere. read more

Brandon Bike works is a full service bike shop located right in the community of Winthrop. The shop itself is small but fully stocked with bike gear from clothes to full bikes and a bit of everything in between. I took my new bike over there for a tune up (bronze package) and walked out with it a week later and for a great price. My bikes riding like a champ. Definitely happy to have found "my shop" Out in the Riverview area. The wait time was around a week which isn't bad but I suppose that would be my only negative but the quality of work and the staff was super friendly and helpful so was worth it to me. read more

We were searching for a new bike and stumbled upon Bikeworks. The first day we went in with questions and to get a feel for what kind of bike we wanted. The staff answered each question thoroughly and patiently pulled down bike after bike for me to try. When we went back to order a bike there was no pressure to upgrade or select another style. Once the bike came in it was assembled quickly. We picked up some optional items that we had decided upon and then some more we found while browsing. Extremely disheartened over the lack of customer service and care. The biking community is known for their wholesome character and Brandon Bikeworks failed in their attention to detail to the bike, the service performed, and the customer. Spent over $200 for an inspection and tuneup. The front brakes were also not performing optimally and I mentioned that at drop off. Sure, I know my bike, but I'm no mechanic, so I need guidance. EVERYTHING that was done to the bike by Brandon Bikeworks had to be corrected by a different mechanic at AJs. I picked up my bike, took it home and stored it, and went out on the trail for the first time today. 1) I was told the brakes were fixed. I had no front brake at all, even after pumping plenty of times. So I took it easy on the trails and didn't do obstacles. Of course as soon as I brought it back in they started magically working. Jose, the owner, irately blamed me for storing my bike on a hook in my garage. When I took it to AJs, they said it's a closed system and hanging won't affect the brakes, which explains why my wife's bike didn't have any braking issues, even though hers was also hung. AJs said the line was contaminated and fixed that for me. 2) Based on the inspection I was advised that the chain needed replaced, but the cassette still had some life in it. So, based on their diagnosis I only had them replace the chain. Again, I'm not a bike mechanic. When I took it out on the trail my chain was skipping every 5 seconds, yes, 5 seconds because my wife and I were counting. For 72 minutes I rode easy with no front brake and a skipping chain. When I took it in I was told the issue was that the hanger was bent and was accused of taking a spill or damaging it during storage since I picked it up from the inspection and tuneup. If I took a spill since picking it up I would have said that because I have integrity. I took it to AJs and without inspecting it, they first asked specific questions. AJs took time to show me why YOU SHOULD ALWAYS CHANGE THE CHAIN AND CASSETTE TOGETHER BECAUSE THEY WEAR TOGETHER. The hanger was fine and not causing the skipping!! Jose also blamed the skipping on a dirty chain... I literally came straight from the trails. Culprit? The chain was loose and needed a new cassette!!! So, AJs had to remove links for proper tension of the chain. JOSE, the owner of Bikeworks, WAS SEARCHING FOR ANY EXCUSE TO PASS THE BLAME ON TO THE CUSTOMER. DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR FOR SOMEONE IN THE BIKING COMMUNITY. BE A BETTER HUMAN. 3) Also, Bikeworks reinstalled the connector upside down, so AJs fixed that too. It ended up costing me more money and time to take it to AJs to pay for them to fix everything that Bikeworks was already paid to do AND I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT NEAR BRANDON BIKEWORKS AGAIN. This is an example of how NOT to treat customers. This could have been easily solved by treating the customer with some dignity to diagnose the issues. But it's apparent they probably wouldn't have even come up with the correct diagnosis anyway. SAVE YOUR TIME. SAVE YOUR MONEY. SUPPORT A DIFFERENT LOCAL BUSINESS. Thank you AJs! read more

Shopped around several local bike shops looking for new wheels for me and the wife and came up short on good customer service and inventory. Called Brandon Bikeworks and was greeted by the owner Jose. From the minute we spoke he was super accommodating, informative, and willing to go above and beyond to outfit us with 100% of our best interest in mind. A few days later we had bikes ready for us to fit and decide on with no obligations. Of course we bought the bikes (2 awesome Electra Townie's) and we somehow managed to sever the shimano light generation wires (powers the lights using wheels' rotation) during transport. Called the shop to see if they could do the repair and Jose responded shortly informing me that he was on his way over to our home to do the repair as the shop closed. Can you believe he did the repair himself right in my driveway to ensure my wife and I would be able to enjoy our new bikes that same day?! Has a problem with fitting a new bicycle seat. I walked in and the technician solved it in 2 minutes. They did it for free even though I offered to pay. Only downside is even though the place is in WInthrop, I had to drive around quite a bit to find it. Not their fault, as the center won't allow direction signs. Highly recommended. read more

I have always had all of my racing bikes worked on at Brandon Bikeworks because I can trust them. If I need something, they tell me rather than trying to upsell me on a lot of stuff that I really do not need. I bought a bike computer and the owner personally took the time to set my computer on my bike, he also set it to my Garmin watch and then I asked if he could set it up with Strava and he did. He did not have to do that but he did it and he did it with a smile on his face. I just did a Duathlon yesterday in Naples and I took my bike in the day before the race and they squeezed me in to have 2 new tires and tubes put on, along with a new chain and rear gears. They go the extra mile because they care and if you need something done, tell them and tell them why and they will get it done that day as long as you can give them a little time. Go get lunch or go shopping at the nearby Target. TRUST is hard when it comes to a bike business & my bike was perfect for that Duathlon the next day and I took 2nd place in my age category thanks to having a great bike that performed beautifully. Great little shop! I bought a Trek Marlin 6 yesterday after they ran me through a couple different bikes to make sure the sizing was correct (I totally would have bought the wrong size). What I liked most about the experience was I never felt pressured at any point. There were much more expensive bikes there, but after explaining what I was looking for they recommended bikes that were exactly what I was looking for (even though I didn't know what exactly I was looking for). She gave me 3 options at different prices and told me to come back when I was able to decide which one would be right for me, if they didn't have it they could order it and it would be there in 3-4 days...again I felt ZERO pressure. This bike shop was nearby to us so we decided to take my bike in for a repair that took about 20 minutes. It just needed a new tube on the rear tire. It cost us about $12 for the tube and $10-15 for the labor which is a little more expensive than other places that charge $5 for the tube and $6 for the labor but the crew was cool and they were pretty fast with it. after bringing in my old bike several times for repairs it was time to say goodbye. 10 years, 25,000+ miles and living on the water with a steel frame bike made it to expensive to fix. Because of the way I had been treated I said when I bought a new bike it would be here. I bought Trek Fx-2 with disc brakes. Actually more comfortable than old bike and much faster. I took some sentimental pictures of the old bike and am now riding the new one. Brandon Bikeworks is like a family and you can see it by the way they treat their customers and techs. They are bikers who like to help bikers of any level. At other dealerships the employees do not treat customers of all levels the same.
