This is not a negative review for the dentists and assistants. This is for the front office…read morestaff/receptionist that I spoke to. I was referred to Barnhill by Dowell so that daughter could be put to sleep for 1 filling because she was terrified. I called to see about getting an appointment and the lady that I spoke to was so rude, apparently because I had a $32 bill that I knew nothing about. She cut me off several times while I was trying to speak. Rudely read all of the dates that a bill was mailed to me and said texts were sent. i had not received anything from them. Then in a smart alec tone said "I will send you a text right now". Like i would avoid a measly $32 bill when I paid them over $700 the last time I was there. Apparently there was an insurance discrepancy I knew nothing about. Needless to say, I will not be back. In addition, I was also told that my daughter will need another exam because they dont "use other doctors exams" in the rudest tone. I will drive her to Lexington before I am treated and talked to in such a tone over a $32 bill.

First time there. The employees are nice-ish but making an appointment time seems to be pointless…read more People with appointments wait hours past the time made. When asked about the wait, I was told you can't listen to the folks out there in the waiting room because they are probably walk ins (they were not and I certainly wasn't) and that they are busy. As a person who is borrowing transportation to take my children here, I feel as though they do not take the time of their patients seriously.

I have always been very nervous about going to the dentist. I comes from a less than favorable…read moreexperience when I was a child. Before I saw Dr. Don myself, both of my children saw him, and they both had wonderful experiences. Everyone at his office is very friendly, but still very professional. I had to have a few fillings done, and it was the first time that I have never felt the needle - not one little bit! This was also the first time that I can remember having an oral cancer screening and a gum disease check done at my first appointment. If you are looking for a dentist that does a really thorough exam, clearly explains your needs and treatment options, and is extremely gentle (even for cowards like myself), then I can definitely recommend this dental office.

At my 3 year old's first cleaning, we were told he would need multiple fillings and one crown. I asked why they bother with filling primary (baby) teeth and Dr. Moody informed me that it was to guard against the decay spreading. I scheduled my child's appointment for 2 fillings and a crown. My husband took my child in for the visit. Dr. Moody uses laughing gas during procedures, so I could not be in the room with him at 34 weeks pregnant. When the procedure began, my child started screaming. Dr. Moody attempted to rationalize with a scared, 3 year old instead of stopping the work. She also was incredibly rude and patronizing to my husband about my child's teeth. They continued with and finished the procedure. My child left the office screaming and drenched with sweat. He also has a huge, unsightly, silver crown (not white) on his tooth. The appearance of the crown was not described to me or my husband prior to the procedure and we would have declined or requested something else if Dr. Moody had communicated this as she should have. Thanks to Dr. Moody, my child will have issues with dental visits going forward which will have a greater, negative impact on his dental health than the fillings she finished today. We will not be returning as patients and encourage all parents to keep your children away unless they are blessed with perfect teeth. We are shocked that a pediatric dentist has so little understanding of the needs of young children. No amount of cartoons and treat boxes make up for that.
