It all seemed to go downhill once Kelly, the head ECE teacher, went on maternity leave. My son started to have some behavioural issues that seemed to be drastically increasing within a two week period, only while at daycare. I started getting artwork sent home with writing on it trying to "detect" a deeper issue to his behaviour. I was being told repeatedly that my son needed "help" and that they no longer knew how to help or care for him. He was talked about negatively while he was standing right next to the ECE teacher who was speaking about him. About 50% of the time neither me nor my son were even acknowledged when we arrived in the morning. I started getting phone calls at work every other day stating that my son had been "biting, hitting and throwing things". Little did I know, until later that day when I came to pick him up, that she was physically restraining him when he attempted to bite her as well as recording a video of him on her personal cell phone while having a minor tantrum. He had thrown a small stuffed animal at her while she was not attending to his needs but instead, taking videos. A few days after this happened I went to pick my son up at the regular time I usually do, to find a teacher who I've never met before watching the children. I was a bit surprised and not very happy. I had asked this woman how my son's day was at daycare that day. She refused to tell me, and stated that I needed to ask the other teacher who was not/nor had been there that day. Once in the car, I had asked my son who she was and what her name was and he said that he didn't know her, or her name. Later on in the week I had gotten yet again another phone call. This phone call was them asking me to speak to my son because he did not want to have a nap. She had told me that they did not have enough teachers for him to not be in the nap room. My son, now being upset after talking to me, was crying in the background while I was on the phone with the teacher. While my son was standing beside her crying, she once again said that because my 4 year old son did not want to have a nap, that I needed to seek immediate help for him and his behaviour. After this conversation, I had just about enough that I could take. I tried to contact Kim, the manager of Country Bears, two times by phone and emailed her to call me as soon as she was able to. I did not receive any response back from her. Once I got off work I picked up my son and said that he will NOT be returning to the daycare and the teacher said" Good, this isn't working". She had no compassion and did not even look at my son once, nor say goodbye to him. I think the best thing I did was get him out of there. It is not somewhere I would ever want my child to be again.
