I went on a Discover Scuba Diving course today and the experience was amazing. Even though this…read morewasn't a certification course I still got a taste of what scuba diving was like, and if I want to pursue a certification in the future the experience does count for some credits. We arrived at the My Dive Center to get an overview of what scuba diving is like and we went through some terminologies and safety precautions before we got fitted for our gears. The Diving Masters there are all PADI certified. Our instructor/Diving Master Theo was really knowledgeable and was super friendly, and I totally appreciate his effort in accommodating our big group of 10 to get us fitted for our equipment. After the lecture we went to the swimming pool at a local high school. The diving equipment that we received today included the diving mask, buoyancy controlled diving vest, oxygen tank, and the fins to wear on the feet. At the pool we were split into small groups 4 to 5 to get a more personal lesson with another instructor. My instructor Matt went through with us how to put on the equipment and guided us through the basic diving skills before letting us get a taste of the scuba diving experience. Even though I somewhat struggled at the fog-clearing exercise, Matt was really helpful and patient with me at guiding me through the process. In total we spent around 3 hours in the water and I totally enjoyed every second of it. I highly recommend everyone to give Discover Scuba Diving a try, especially if you're thinking of getting certified.

What an amazing experience and an absolutely amazing team!…read more My husband and I wanted to get our Scuba Diving certification, as we were leaving for vacation to Mexico and wanted to go diving there. We decided to do the Referral Program, which is basically the theory + confined water dives with 1 Scuba Outfit, and the final open water dives can be completed anywhere in the world, where there is a PADI shop. After much research, and talking to few shops around Toronto, we decided to go with Yoon Chin at My Dive Center. And we are SO GLAD that we did. Initially we were a bit cautious, and their rates were a bit cheaper than some of the other shops we had spoken to, for the same course, and we didn't want the quality of the training compromised due to lesser price being offered, but after speaking to Yoon, I felt super comfortable. Yoon is such am amazing person, and a wonderful instructor. He went out of way to accommodate us (we were working on a very tight schedule), and he made sure that we got all the theoretical training we needed before going into the pool. In the pool, we were trained by instructors Marty and Pat. The pool they rent is not at the shop of the dive center, it's a separate community center and they just rent the facility. And it's a great space for the pool classes. Marty and Pat were both absolutely amazing (and lots of fun be around!!). They made everyone feel comfortable and at ease with the whole process. It was a bit scary initially (especially for me, I had just learned to swim as an adult a year or two ago) but it was honestly so much fun! I honestly couldn't recommend them more. So much so that we even considered doing the full course with these guys (the open water dives, in lake Ontario) but we just didn't have the time otherwise we would have done so. Yoon and his team are extremely passionate about diving, very serious about safety and a lot of fun!!

DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES! DO NOT BUY THE GROUPON!…read more I cannot even tell you the amount of issues we have experienced. Everything from not being able to confirm our appointments, to not honouring the terms of the Groupon, to charging us for equipment etc even though the Groupon said everything was included. Oh and also being told on the phone we could go to their King East location but finding out later that we had to drive all the way for Mississauga. Not worth it. Don't buy.

I got this as a Groupon and it was the biggest ripoff. Started out thinking I would be saving a…read morecouple bucks over doing this in the Caribbean and ended up spending WAY more. There is an additional cost for absolutely everything. After paying extra for the textbooks, and getting their open water dive 'deal', the snorkel and fin rentals for the dive were extra (although the other equipment was included- guess they didn't think snorkel was necessary equipment) and a few people had issues with the equipment in the water. We were told that the $250 we paid for the open water dives included ALL equipment, and were hit with the extra charge when we went to get fitted. I won't even go into how many issues we had booking a dive, them losing our reservation and telling us we were SOL because there was no room left that weekend, and that they were 'not able to find our paperwork'. The guys doing the open water dives were nice- every other interaction I had with them was a customer service nightmare. Not helpful, arrogant, dismissive, disorganized- just terrible. We specifically asked during the open water dive whether or not there were any more fees in order to get our PADI card- we were told there was a $25 fee if we wanted to get it the fast way, but otherwise no. I couldn't believe that we were finally getting something from them that was actually included in the price we paid. Too good to be true- we were told to just come in when we dropped off our equipment, get the application, attach a picture and mail it in. Easy peasy. Instead we were charged $75 EACH and basically told that we had to pay it or they weren't signing off and we would have wasted hundreds of dollars. DO NOT recommend. Save yourself the trouble and get certified anywhere else.

Similar to most dive shops the owner (Darryl, thankfully to sell shop and retiring soon),…read moremistakenly works under the premise he is in the scuba diving business. He is NOT. He is in the customer service business which happens to be a dive shop. ZERO concept of customer service. ZERO follow through on any promises made. I have visited the shop three times since moving here in July 2025. Each time Darryl makes promises about setting up courses, scheduling this and that, "calling me within two weeks." NEVER happened. Not a single time. During one visit he told me he would call within two weeks, but "if I forget, call and remind me." WHAT? Me call to remind a business owner that he neglected to call as promised -- so I can give him my time and money? No. It does NOT work that way. Be true to your word. Have common respect and courtesy for CUSTOMERS who pay the bills -- or go ahead and retire and get out of the business. I form productive working relationships with business that actually do what they say they will do. The last thing I need is another flaky, unreliable dive shop (or dive partner)! l'll search for, and affiliate with, another dive operator and avoid wasting more of my time at Discover Diving.

She gave me a time to visit the store to discuss and educate me with options. This little store is buzzing with activity, but Marion made sure she gave me plenty of options to choose from. She was NOT pushy, which to me makes a good salesperson. As we discussed pros and cons, I made my decision to go with dry snorkel. Next, I asked if there was a place to learn how to use the equipment. She told me to meet her at a local pool to go thru instruction. She was patient as we went step by step on many different methods and I was water logged and a prune by the time we finished. Thanks to Marion for a great pre cruise experience that will allow me to explore the beauty that lives below the ocean surface. I'm even more excited now.

Play It Again Sports in Brampton is one franchise of 100+ throughout North America. Nevertheless,…read morethe store has a very local feel to it, with very personalized and friendly service. As the name suggests, it's a sports consignment store, though they do sell some new products as well. For me, it makes a great deal of sense to purchase some sports equipment used since that new item you bought for more than twice the price will look the same after a couple uses. I've been here a few times in the past couple years and have always found what I'm looking for. We purchased my son's first real bike here. It was in terrific shape with virtually no signs of use and came at a great deal. I've popped in other times too, such as buying used softballs - which for me makes perfect sense to save money on rather than buying new ones. Outdoor skating season is now starting up again, which brought me in yesterday for skates. We plan on going several times this season, so it didn't make sense to keep renting each time we go. We can in yesterday to look at their skates, and they have a MASSIVE inventory of both new and used. The price of the men's skates ranged from $40-70, with even the $40 ones being your typical Bauer skate. I got ones for $60, which had very little use and were made of composite material, making it a bit lighter. I also found skates for both my kids, which each pair coming in around $30. They offer skate sharpening for $5, but did ours for free since we purchased three pairs. They had plenty of sales staff present, so anyone could get the help they needed, whenever they needed it. The manager is also supper friendly and very funny. Next time you're looking for some sports equipment, I'd recommend looking here first. You might be surprised at the amount of selection and the money you'll save.
