Freddy is just an amazing mechanic and a beautiful human. My brakes were making loud grinding sounds and initially I took it to one of those corporate chains and they told me that all 4 needed to be replaced and quoted me about $600. I decided to call around and look at reviews and came upon Freddy's Brake Master and I am so thankful I did. Freddy SHOWED me my brakes/brake pads on the front and back and so I was able to see the actual difference and what it looked like and he was like educating me on the process. He said that only the two front brakes needed replacing and the back brakes were still good. Unlike the corporate/chain place I went to initially, Freddy was super honest with me and told me what my car needed. Needless to say Freddy saved me from spending money that didn't need to spend. All inclusive with labor and parts, Freddy did what needed to be done with care and expertise and I did not have to spend $600 thank God. I needed my brakes fixed. They were making a grinding and groaning sound louder and louder, and they started feeling gummy. I've had my brakes fail before so I knew I had to get them fixed, but I was worried that, as a layperson who didn't have much knowledge of car mechanics, and as a female, I would get ripped off, yes, even in this day and age. I called Brake Masters based on the reviews. Apparently they were closed the day I called, and quotes I got from others ranged from over $300 to $495, of those mechanics who would give me a quote. They mostly said it sounded like the rotors needed replacing. The one place that offered a diagnostic said it would be $100 to be applied to any repair they do. This all made me apprehensive, and I was trying to decide what to do. Freddy called me back the next morning explaining that the shop was closed the previous day, and said to please come in anytime, and he would look at the brakes for free. I brought my car down for him to inspect. He did so right away, and told me I would only need the front brake pads replaced, and that I had not yet damaged the rotors. He offered to do the job including parts and labor for half of what the others had quoted, and said it would be guaranteed for one year. I was fine with that, but then he advised me to get the brake pads myself because I would be able to have a lifetime warranty that way. I hesitated because I didn't want to drive even the few blocks to the auto parts store, so he offered to drive me! He told me which brakes to ask for, which I did (they were the less expensive option offered by the store for my car), and after purchasing them, we went back to the shop and he finished the job within 20 minutes. Then he only charged me for labor. The whole thing, parts and labor, came in under $150. I was so happy with the treatment, honesty, and prices. I told Freddy I understood why he got such great reviews on Yelp, and he said he wasn't even aware of the compliments! He advised me that I would need rear brake pads soon, so I'll be going back to him for sure, and I will bring a printout of the reviews when I do, so he knows how appreciated he is. So my wife's Tahoe breaks were making noise. I had gone to Felix dealer prior for service and they had mentioned that I needed to replace my breaks. I was going to get them done there, but after my last experience there I decided to look elsewhere. I found this location on yelp and decided to give it a try. The pride for the breaks is way cheaper than elsewhere and you can bring your own brakes and Freedy will take care of you ($48). What I like is that he takes pride on his work. He did my grin and tear breaks and notice that the wheel bearing were bad. I went out bought them and brought it back for him to replace. One thing is, be ready to wait a bit if someone else is ahead of you as he works by himself. Have someone pick you up or have some fried chicken next door at Louisiana it's good actually. read more

Went to have my brakes checked. I could not find the facility. Finally, I parked and had to walk to it. It was packed. I waited for 20-30 minutes, tried to ask a question but was ignored. I thought, was Mr. Freddy rude or just really focused? I decided to return later. When I came back he had finished all those cars. He examined my brakes did not see a problem. We did a test drive and my grinding brake noise never manifested. He told me if the sound returned to come back so he could check it out. To answer my question, Mr. Freddy the owner was very focused. Early last week I felt and heard (noticed) my breaks were squealing and deeply rubbing as I braked. Im Always on a tight budget and want to save money and okay with my time so I decided to watch several you tube videos on how to change the brakes on a 2003 Dodge Caravan. Realizing some of the videos were not in the best condition of teachers showing students such as myself how to change the brakes properly. Then it came to realization i'm going to need all kinds of tools in certain liquids in order to change the brakes correctly. That right there was a red flag already because I didn't want to spend more money on buying additional material for one break change. So I started going online Google and Bing and Yahoo and started to search the Los Angeles area to call a couple places and was shocked how much you were trying to charge. So back on YouTube and again get discouraged because again the videos are no different from the ones I just watched very unclear very unclear. Then I decided to go on yelp which I'm a big person on in regards to business type in brakes repair in the first one I brought up was brake master. Let me tell you I was very discouraged because it was South LA and not sure how the work will get done and how much he would charge. That is why I'm taking the time to write this review after speaking to Freddy over the phone he won my business. I wasn't able to get to him that very same day but early the next day, this morning I am here and he is working on my van right now. Approaching him was friendly and professional and shook my hand. You don't get that much in business much. The place of business is absolutely clean I'm in shock! No seriously the place is absolutely clean and that's a good thing because you don't want a lot of trash around your business. Now here comes the part, paying and confirming the work? Extremely reasonable on Price for the make and model of my vehicle. I got here at 8:05AM and it's 8:31 and he is putting my tires back on!!!! Confirming first review. Just took my mom's car to see Freddie and get it checked out because my brother swears the breaks are running low. My mom thinks they're fine. We go to Freddie and he checks everything and even air pressure dusts before putting the tires back on. Took it for a test drive and gave us a straight and forward answer. The brakes are fine.
